UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL FACULTY POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS 2011/12
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
For the attention of the candidate: Please read the below points very carefully and ensure that you completely understand the terms and conditions before you proceed to complete the application.
The University of Liverpool Faculty Postgraduate Scholarships 2011/12 are available only to international students who have been accepted on a taught postgraduate (Masters) study at the University of Liverpool. These are merit-based scholarships designed to reward academic excellence.
Number: Up to 50 Scholarships
Value: £2000 reduction in tuition fees per scholarship
1.Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the PG Faculty Scholarships you must:
∙be a national of a country outside the European Union and the UK
∙liable to pay full tuition fees at the “overseas” rate
∙have been made an offer of a place on a taught Masters programme at the University of Liverpool. Taught Masters programmes include all MSc, MBA, MA, MRes and MSc (Eng.) programs taught at the University ∙Appropriate competence in English is preferred.
∙Have a record of academic excellence
The general quality of your application and personal statement will be important factors in the selection process. Your personal statement must detail the reasons why you wish to come to Liverpool to study your chosen course.
Please note: While you may defer your admission to the following year, an offer of scholarship may not be deferred. You will, however be eligible to re-apply for the scholarship, in the year that you do enter the program. Exceptions
You are not eligible for this scholarship if you are fully funded by a third party such as a government body (e.g KASP) or awarding body (e.g. Fulbright).
2.Deadlines
There are 2 rounds to this scholarship competition. Please apply by either the first deadline of 15th April 2011 for Round 1or the deadline of 01st July 2011 for Round 2. The eligibility criteria will be the same for both rounds.
Please note: You only need to send in one application. In the event, you are not successful in Round 1, you are not eligible to apply for Round 2.
3.Notification of outcome / result
All applicants will receive an email within 5 days to confirm the initial decision, i.e., whether they have been rejected or if they have been shortlisted for consideration of the scholarship.
We will inform you by email if you have been successful in your application. Candidates applying by the first deadline will receive email notifications of whether they have been successful or not, by April 26th 2011 and those applying by the second deadline will receive email notifications by July 08th 2011.
If you have been awarded a scholarship, these e-mails will explain in detail, what you need to do as the next step and how to confirm acceptance of your scholarship. As such, please make it a point to check your mail regularly and follow instructions carefully on all such e-mails.
If you have received an acknowledgement from us, stating that we would contact you by a certain date, please wait patiently to hear from us, as we will definitely contact you by the mentioned date to inform you of the decision, regardless of the outcome.
All communication between the University and scholarship applicants is through e-mail. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the most up-to-date and accurate e-mail address is provided on the application form and to check his/her e-mail regularly and as such, it is hoped the applicant will do so diligently, so as to receive all relevant communication from the University in a timely manner.
Please note: No letters will be provided to successful candidates to confirm the award. Only e-mails will be sent to confirm the awarding of the scholarship.
4.Reserve list of candidates
It may so happen, during the scholarship process, that certain applications are shortlisted during a particular round, but may not have been awarded the scholarship in that round. These applications may be moved to a reserve list and will be considered at the end of the process.
As such, if you happen to be one of the candidates whose application has been moved to the Reserve list, you will receive
a separate mail confirming the same.
5.Scholarship letters
Please note, as part of the new student visa regulations, the University of Liverpool will not be sending out separate scholarship letters to the student.
You will be sent an e-mail to confirm the award of a scholarship and all information of any fee reductions will be recorded on your CAS statement, which is the preferred method of notification for the UK Border Agency.
