It was a lonely road. Not many people had a reason to be on it, unless they were leaving. Most of his friends had already left. They had families to feed and dreams to fulfill, but he stayed on. 大一英语下第一单元作文英文回答:As a first-year university student, I am embarking on a transformative educational journey. While the transition to higher education has its challenges, I am excited to embrace the opportunities it presents. One aspect that has particularly captivated my attention is the exploration of different languages. In this first unit of English, we have delved into the fascinating world of language and its diverse forms. Through engaging readings, thought-provoking discussions, and interactive exercises, I have gained a deeper understanding of the intricate relationship between language, culture, and human experience. The unit has introduced me to various linguistic concepts, including the structure of language, the evolution of words, and the role of grammar in conveyingmeaning. I have also had the opportunity to explore the nuances of figurative language, which allows us to express ourselves creatively and effectively. Moreover, this unit has emphasized the importance of communication in a globalized world. By learning about the different ways in which languages connect people, I have realized the significance of developing intercultural competence and breaking down language barriers. However, the learning process has not been without its obstacles. As an English-as-a-second-language (ESL) student, I sometimes encounter challenges in understanding complex texts or expressing my ideas fluently. However, I am committed to persevering, and I believe that these challenges will ultimately contribute to my growth as a learner.中文回答:作为一名大一学生,我正踏上改变人生的学习之旅。

Less than a tenth of the people are engaged in agriculture and forestry, and most of the rest live in or around towns, small and large. Here the traditional picture is changing: every small town may still be very like other small towns, and the typical small town may represent a widely accepted view of the country, but most Americans do not live in small towns any more. Half the population now lives in some thirty metropolitan areas (1arge cities with th<div class="reader-page batch-50-1" id="pageNo-2">eir suburbs of more than a million people each —a larger proportion than in Germany or England, let alone France). The statistics of urban and rural population should be treated with caution because so many people who live in areas classified as rural travel by car to work in a nearby town each day. As the rush to live out of town continues, rural areas within reach of towns are gradually filled with houses, so that it is hard to say at what moment a piece of country becomes a suburb. But more and more the typical American lives in a metropolitan rather than a small town environment.(1).6.If now America has 250 million people, how many of them are engaged in agriculture and forestry?A.About 25 million.B.More than 25 million.C.Less than 25 million.D.Less than 225 million.正确答案:C(2).Which of the following four countries has the smallest proportion of people living in metropolitan areas?A.United States.B.Germany.C.France.D.England.正确答案:C(3).What's the meaning of the word "metropolitan" in the middle of the passage?A.Of a large city with its suburbs.B.Of small and large towns.C.Of urban areas.D.Of rural areas.正确答案:A(4).According to the passage, what can we learn about small towns in the United States?A.Most small towns become gradually crowded.B.Small towns are still similar to each other.C.As the traditional picture is changing, towns are different.D.Small towns are turning into large cities.正确答案:B(5).Why is it hard to say when a piece of country becomes a suburb?A.Because they are the same.B.Because the rush takes place too quickly.C.Because the process is gradual.D.Because more and more Americans live in metropolitan.正确答案:C25.阅读理解第2篇:判断正误题:请根据短文回答(1)-(5)小题People born in the summer are more likely to be healthy than those who arrive during other times of the year, new research suggests. The phenomenon could be caused by mothers getting more sun in pregnancy —and passing on higher quantities of vitamin D to their unborn infant. A study of almost half a million British adults found babies born in June, July, and August were heavier at birth and taller as adults. For the first time the research also revealed girls born in the summer started puberty later — an indication of better health in adult life. Early puberty in girls has been linked with a higher risk of diabetes, heart disease or breast cancer. Previous research has shown children born between June and October are likely to be slightly taller and have bigger bones than winter-born children — believed to be related to vitamin D exposure during pregnancy. Babies born in autumn and winter are more likely to develop food allergies — with sunlight exposure during pregnancy and vitamin D levels also thought to play a role in this. 大一下学期英语第一单元作文题目全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Big English Adventure!Hi there! My name is Lily and I'm 8 years old. I just started learning English this year in school and I'm super excited about it! English is such a cool language. I can't wait to learn more words and phrases so I can talk to people from all around the world. How awesome is that?My English teacher, Mr. Roberts, is really nice. He makes the lessons fun with songs, games and even little skits we act out. Last week, we learned how to introduce ourselves in English. "Hello, my name is Lily. I am 8 years old. Nice to meet you!" I practiced saying that over and over at home until I could say it perfectly. Mom and Dad were so proud! One of my favorite games we play is "Simon Says" but we do it in English. Mr. Roberts will say things like "Simon says touch your nose" or "Simon says clap your hands." If he doesn't say "Simon says" first though, you're not supposed to do it. It's a tricky game but so much fun! We also sing lots of silly songs withactions like "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" and "The Hokey Pokey." The songs really help me remember new words. In today's lesson, we started learning colors in English. I already knew some basics like red, blue, and yellow. But did you know there are different names for shades of colors too? Like burgundy is a kind of deep reddish color. And there's a greenish-blue called teal. My mind was blown! Who knew there were so many color names to learn? English is amazing. After our color lesson, we did a fun art project. Mr. Roberts gave us each a big piece of paper and told us to draw our favorite animal. Then we had to color it in using as many different English color names as we could. I chose to draw a tiger because they are my favorite animal. I colored his stripes using burnt orange and his belly cream. For his fur, I used goldenrod and sunshine yellow. His eyes were emerald green and his tongue was scarlet. When I was all done, I had used like 12 different color names! Pretty impressive for my first color lesson, right?Mr. Roberts had us go around the class showing our pictures and saying what colors we used. It was a little nerve-wracking to talk in front of everyone, but also really exciting to show off my new skills. Samantha drew a bright blue dolphin, Jack made apurple snake, and Tommy colored an entire rainbow for his picture! We all did such a great job learning and using new vocabulary. At the end of class, Mr. Roberts told us that next week we'll start learning numbers in English. I can already count to 20 in Spanish because my grandma taught me. But I've never tried counting in English before. I'll have to ask her to help me practice at home so I can impress Mr. Roberts with how fast I pick it up. Numbers, colors, counting...there's just so much fun stuff to learn!English class is definitely my favorite part of the school day. The other kids think it's hard and get frustrated sometimes. But not me! I adore learning this crazy new language. Every day I go home with new words swimming around in my head. I can't wait to keep learning more and more. Who knows, maybe I'll be a fluent English speaker before I'm even a teenager!Well, that's all for my very first English essay. Did you have fun learning a bit about me and my English adventures at school? Getting to write all in English was awesome practice. I probably made some mistakes here and there, but that's okay. I'm just starting out after all. The more I write and use the language, thebetter I'll get. YIt's an adventure for sure, but I'm enjoying every second of it!Thanks for reading my story. I'm off to go practice counting to 100 now. Wish me luck!篇2My Big Adventures in English ClassHi there! My name is Lily and I'm in the 5th grade. I just started my second semester of English class and I'm really excited about it! English is one of my favorite subjects because I love learning about new words, reading stories, and talking with my classmates. This semester is going to be filled with so many fun adventures in English class! Our first unit is all about storytelling and creative writing. I can't wait because I love making up stories and tales! My best friend Emma and I are always coming up with crazy stories during recess about explorers finding lost cities or kids going on magical journeys. Mrs. Taylor, my English teacher, said we're going to learn how to take our imaginative tales and write them down properly with good grammar, descriptions, and dialogue.I haven't been the best at writing complete stories before. I tend to have a really exciting beginning, but then I get stuck and don't know how to continue from there. Or sometimes my endings are a bit abrupt because I run out of ideas. Mrs. Taylor is going to teach us techniques like using story maps, interviewing characters, and incorporating descriptive language to make our stories more vivid and engaging. I'm definitely going to work hard on fleshing out the middles and endings of my stories this semester.Another thing I struggle with in my writing is varying my word choices. I tend to use the same basic words over and over like "said, went, looked" etc. Mrs. Taylor is going to have us keep vocabulary journals where we collect new interesting words to use in our stories. She gave us an example of how instead of saying "he went to the park", we could say "he strolled to the grassy park" or "he ambled towards the park." Using stronger verbs and adjectives can make our writing so much more captivating! We're also going to spend time studying the different elements of good storytelling like setting, characters, plot, conflict, and resolution. I'm really excited to analyze some of my favorite books and movies to see how the authors crafted greatstories. We might even get to act out scenes from books, which will be fun! Getting to discuss and creatively express the stories we're studying will make the unit super engaging.Another major part of the unit will be learning how to give elaborate descriptions when writing stories. I tend to just say basic things like "there was a house" or "he had brown hair." But Mrs. Taylor will teach us techniques to use precise details and imagery so readers can clearly visualize what we're trying to describe. Using the five senses of sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste can also make our descriptions richer and more vibrant. I'm going to work hard on "showing not telling" and painting clear pictures with my words. We'll even get to try our hand at writing different genres of stories beyond just fictional tales. We might write personal narratives, fables, mysteries, or sci-fi adventures. I really want to try writing a fantasy story because I love the magical worlds of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. Maybe I'll write about a group of kids who get special powers and have to go on an epic quest! Having the chance to be creative with different story genres will make writing even more fun.Towards the end of the unit, we'll get to share and "publish" our polished stories. We might read them aloud, createillustrations, or even make audio recordings to go with our tales. I'm excited to see my classmates' imaginative stories come to life! We can give each other positive feedback to make our writing skills sharper. I'm a little nervous to share my stories since writing can feel quite personal. But I know my friends will be supportive and give me helpful advice.I know this storytelling unit is going to be challenging in many ways. Crafting an engaging plot, creating vivid descriptions, using elevated words, andwriting with proper structure will take a lot of hard work and practice. But I'm determined to give it my full effort so I can become a stronger writer. My dream is to write books for kids one day, so developing my storytelling abilities now will definitely pay off.Mrs. Taylor makes learning exciting by having us do creative projects, work collaboratively, and explore our personal interests through our writing. With her guidance and my perseverance, I just know I'm going to have a blast during this storytelling unit! Who knows, maybe I'll create the next big fantasy book series or nail-biting mystery novel. An author can dream, right? I'm just so grateful to have such an amazing opportunity to foster my love of English and storytelling at school. Here's to the start of an incredible new semester!篇3My Awesome Summer Vacation!Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 10 years old. I just started 5th grade and my teacher asked us to write about what we did over summer vacation. I had the best summer ever so I'm really excited to tell you all about it!The last day of school was May 25th and I couldn't wait for summer to start. My parents had promised we could go on a big family trip this year since my little brother Billy was finally old enough to travel. On June 1st, we all piled into our mini-van and headed out for our epic road trip adventure! Our first stop was Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. I had never seen anything like it before - there were bubbling mud pots, shooting geysers, and pools of bright blue and orange water. The whole place smelled like rotten eggs from all the sulphur, but it was still awesome! We went hiking every day and saw bison, elk, and even a black bear from a safe distance. One night we stayed in a cozy cabin in the woods and bundled up to watch the stars - I've never seen so many in the night sky before. After five days of exploring Yellowstone, we drove west to Seattle to visit my aunt, uncle, and cousins. They live right nearthe ocean and we spent two days walking along the beach, building sandcastles, and searching for seashells. My aunt took us on a crazy ferry ride across the Puget Sound one day - I got a little seasick but it was still fun. We also went up in the famous Space Needle which had the most incredible views of the whole city! From Seattle, we headed down the Pacific coast into California. We stopped for a few days in the Redwood Forests and I've never felt so tiny before as I looked up at those massive trees towering hundreds of feet above me. We had a picnic in the perfect circle of one fallen, hollow redwood log that was wider than our mini-van! After the Redwoods, we spent a whole week in Los Angeles visiting my other aunt. We did all the cool touristy stuff like going to the Santa Monica Pier, hiking in the Hollywood Hills, seeing the Walk of Fame, and even visiting a movie studio! The highlight of the whole trip though was when we made it down to San Diego for the last few days. We spent two full days at the world-famous San Diego Zoo seeing all the amazing animals up close. My favorite was definitely the giant pandas - they were so cute as they munched on bamboo all day. We even got to watch the zookeepers give one of the baby pandas a bath, which was hilarious. On our very last day, we visited SeaWorldwhere I got to touch a velvety stingray and see the spectacular Shamu whale show. After nearly a month on the road, we finally made the long drive back home to Ohio. I had the best time on our trip but I have to admit, I was ready to sleep in my own bed again! We took over 2,000 pictures and I've been working on my travel scrapbook to remember all the incredible places we went. My summer break was definitely the most fun and adventurous one yet!Well, that's the story of my awesome summer vacation. We traveled over 6,000 miles and I got to see so many cool places that I had only read about in books before. My feet might be tired from all that walking and hiking, but my heart is full of amazing memories that will last a lifetime. I already can't wait for summer to come again next year - who knows where we'll go next?!篇4My First Semester of English in CollegeHi there! My name is Timmy and I'm in the 5th grade. My big sister Sarah just started college this year and she told me allabout her first semester of English class. It was really interesting to hear about!Sarah said the first day of English was pretty nerve-wracking. The class had like 200 students and it met in this huge lecture hall. The professor walked in looking very serious and introduced himself as Dr. Patterson. Sarah said he seemed kind of intimidating at first. The first few weeks were mostly about going over the syllabus and course expectations. They had to buy a giant textbook that was super heavy. Sarah said just carrying that book around in her backpack made her back hurt! They also had to get a bunch of literature books for the class like books of poems, short stories, and plays. One of the first big assignments was to write a personal narrative essay. Sarah's was about the time our family went camping and a bear got into our cooler at night! She said it was tough trying to stretch that story out to the 5 page minimum length. Who knew writing about a bear eating your snacks could be so hard? Then they started getting into analyzing poetry, which Sarah said was pretty confusing at first. They had to look for things like symbolism, metaphors, and deeper meanings. Sarah showed meone poem they went over about a road diverging in the woods. She said the professor spent like an entire lecture talking about how it was really about making tough choices in life. To me, it just seemed like a poem about a walking trail! After poetry, they did short stories for a few weeks. The stories all seemed to have really weird plots and open-endings where you had to figure out what happened. One was about a lady who went crazy taking care of her sick mom. Another was about a family who left their baby home alone and it SPOILER ALERT turned out okay in the end, but they didn't tell you that until the very last line! Sarah said having to analyze all those sneaky twist endings gave her a headache.Next up was drama and reading plays. They had to go see a couple of plays performed live which was kind of cool. But then they had to write all these essays analyzing the symbolism of certain props or why characters made certain choices. Sarah said it was hard because in real life, people don't always have some deep symbolic meaning behind everything they do.In between all those literature units, they also had to write a few research papers which was probably the most work. Sarah had to spend hours and hours in the library looking through books and online databases to find sources. Then she had tomake sure she cited everything properly and created references pages and all that jazz. She told me I'll hate doing research papers when I'm older! One of the last big projects of the semester was giving a presentation on an author they studied. Sarah got assigned Toni Morrison and had to dress up as her and give a 10 minute speech pretending to be Toni Morrison talking about her life and books. She bought this pretty cool grey wig and glasses to look the part!Overall, Sarah said English class was one of the tougher courses her first semester. But she also said she learned a ton about writing, literature, analyzing texts, and doing research. She's kind of dreading having to take another English course next year though. I don't blame her - that class seemed like a lot of work!Anyway, that's the scoop on Sarah's English class from a 5th grader's perspective. Even though some of it went over my head, it was still fascinating to hear her talk about it all. I can't wait until I'm old enough to take crazy classes like that in college too. But maybe I'll just stick to math and science to make things easier on myself! Thanks for reading, catch you later!篇5My Big Summer AdventureHi there! My name is Timmy and I just started 4th grade a few weeks ago. My teacher, Mrs. Johnson, told us to write about what we did over summer vacation, so I'm going to tell you all about my big summer adventure! It was sooo much fun and I can't wait to share the whole story with you.It all started at the very end of last school year. My parents told me and my little sister Sarah that we were going to go on a huge road trip for almost the entire summer! I was super excited but also a little nervous because I had never been on such a long trip before. Where were we going to go? What were we going to do? I had a million questions!A couple weeks later, after school finally ended, we got everything packed up in our car and hit the road bright and early one morning. The first place we went was to visit my aunt, uncle, and cousins who live way out in California - that's like on the total opposite side of the country from where we live in Maryland! The drive took forever and ever, but it was still pretty cool getting to see so many different states and cities out the window as we cruised along the highways. When we finally made it to California after what felt like years of driving, it was awesome! My aunt and uncle live rightnear the beach, so we went swimming and built sandcastles pretty much every day. My cousins taught me how to bodyboard and boogie board too. At first the waves kind of scared me because they were so big, but after a little while I got the hang of it and it was a blast! The ocean water was freezing cold compared to what I'm used to back home, but I didn't even care.I just loved being in the warm California sunshine and playing in the salty sea. After a fun-filled week in California, we hit the road again for the next stop on our big adventure - the Grand Canyon! Can you believe I had never actually been there before? It's just an absolutely massive hole in the ground, and I mean that in the best way possible. The Grand Canyon is so unbelievably huge and beautiful that it's hard to even fully take in. We went on a couple of different hikes along the canyon rim and got to see the most breathtaking views imaginable. The rocks, valleys, and layers of the canyon seemed to stretch on forever into the distance. We even got to watch the most stunning sunset I've ever seen - the entire canyon was bathed in vibrant shades of red, orange, and pink as the sun dipped below the horizon. It looked almost fake, like something out of a painting or movie! Definitely an unforgettable experience. From the Grand Canyon we drove up to Wyoming to go stay at a dude ranch for a few days. I had honestly no idea what a dude ranch even was before we went there. Basically it's this big farm-kind-of-place out in the middle of nowhere where you can go horseback riding, go hiking and camping, see animals, and experience life on an old-fashioned ranch. This part was my dad's favorite because he just loves anything to do with the outdoors and nature.I'll admit, at first I wasn't too thrilled about having to wake up at the crack of dawn every morning to go riding horses and doing chores on the ranch. But you know what? It ended up being a ton of fun! The wranglers who worked there taught me and Sarah how to properly saddle up and ride the horses. We went on trail rides every day up into the mountains and saw tons of cool wildlife like elk, bighorn sheep, and even a black bear from a safe distance! In the evenings we'd roast marshmallows over a campfire and listen to the ranch hands tell stories and strum their guitars. As much as I complained about it at first, I ultimately had a blast. After our time on the dude ranch, we got back in the car and headed up to our final destination of the trip - Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming and Montana. I couldn't wait becauseI had learned all about Yellowstone in school and it just seemed like the coolest place on Earth! Man, was it ever. We saw laksldfjghre篇6My New School YearYay, it's a new school year! I'm so excited to start second grade. I can't wait to see my friends again and meet my new teacher. I hope she's nice and fun. Last year, my first-grade teacher, Mrs. Johnson, was the best. She would always tell us funny stories and let us play games during class. I really miss her.During the summer, I went on a road trip with my family. We drove all the way to Grandma's house, which is like a million miles away! Okay, maybe not a million, but it sure felt like it. The car ride was super long, and my little brother kept asking, "Are we there yet?" every five minutes. It drove my parents crazy! When we finally arrived, Grandma had baked us her famous chocolate chip cookies. They're the most delicious cookies in the whole wide world! She also made a big, fancy dinner with all my favorite foods – mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, and her special meatloaf. I stuffed myself so much that I could barely move afterwards.Grandma has a huge backyard with a swing set, a treehouse, and even a little pond with fish swimming in it. My brother and I spent hours playing outside every day. We would take turns pushing each other on the swings, trying to see who could go the highest. Then, we'd climb up into the treehouse and pretend we were brave explorers on a jungle adventure. Sometimes, we would sit by the pond and feed the fish breadcrumbs from Grandma's kitchen. One day, we even caught a tiny frog! We carefully put it in a bucket and showed it to Grandma. She said we could keep it as a pet if we promised to take good care of it. We named him Mr. Ribbits and made him a cozy home in an old aquarium. Feeding him crickets was kind of gross, but also really cool. I've never had a pet frog before!Too soon, our vacation was over, and we had to say goodbye to Grandma and Mr. Ribbits. I was sad to leave, but I was also excited to get back home and get ready for the new school year. Mom took me shopping for new clothes, notebooks, pencils, and a really cool lunchbox with superheroes on it.Finally, the first day of school arrived. I woke up super early because I was too excited to sleep. I put on my brand new outfit – a red t-shirt with a dinosaur on it and my favorite jeans with therips in the knees. After gulping down a quick breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes (my favorite!), Mom walked me to the bus stop. When the bus pulled up, I gave Mom a big hug and ran up the stairs, searching for a good seat. I found one near the back, next to my best friend, Tommy. We hadn't seen each other all summer, so we had a lot of catching up to do. I told him all about my adventures at Grandma's house, and he told me about the awesome camping trip his family went on.At school, we lined up outside our new classroom, and I felt a little nervous flutter in my belly. What if the teacher wasn't nice? What if the other kids were mean? Tommy must have sensed how I was feeling because he gave me a reassuring smile and a thumbs up. With my best friend by my side, I knew everything would be okay. The classroom door opened, and a smiling woman greeted us. "Hello, boys and girls! I'm Mrs. Parker, and I'll be your teacher this year. Welcome to second grade!" She seemed really friendly, so I instantly felt better. One by one, we entered the classroom and found our desks, which had our names written on little placards. The room was bright and cheerful, with colorful posters and artwork covering the walls. There was a cozy reading nook in one corner, filled with beanbag chairs and bookshelves stuffed with books. I loved reading, so I knew I'd be spending a lot of time there. In the other corner, there was a big aquarium with a bunch of fish swimming around. I couldn't wait to learn more about them and maybe even get to feed them someday.Mrs. Parker started the day by introducing herself and telling us a little bit about her life. She grew up on a farm with lots of animals, which is why she decided to get a classroom pet for us –a cute little hamster named Nibbles! We all got a chance to gently pet Nibbles and watch him stuff his cheeks with food. He was so funny and adorable. After that, we went around the room and each student got to share something special about themselves. I was a little shy at first, but then I remembered how much I loved telling stories. So, I stood up tall and told the class all about catching Mr. Ribbits the frog and keeping him as a pet over the summer. Some of the other kids shared about their vacations too, while others talked about their favorite toys or sports they liked to play.By the end of the day, I had already made a few new friends, and I couldn't wait to come back to school the next day. Secondgrade was going to be amazing – I could just feel it! I hopped back on the bus, chatting excitedly with Tommy about all the fun things we would get to do and learn this year. When I got home, Mom asked me how my first day went. With a huge smile on my face, I told her, "It was the best day ever!I already love second grade." And I really meant it. This was going to be an awesome year, filled with new adventures, new friends, and lots and lots of learning and fun. Bring it on, second grade – I'm ready for you!。
