Creativity
Creativity refers to the ability to bring forth new ideas, work out novel methods and lead
into pleasant changes by using imagination and practice. This capability often stems from working diligently, thinking deeply and studying intensively. It is therefore one of the standard often used to judge a person or a piece of work. Being creative or not may mean success or failure in the new era.
Many people show lack of creativity in their daily work and life. They parrot the words of others and ape someone at every step. When writing an essay, many students apply a set rule
to everything and follow the models mechanically without showing any personal merits. When designing something, few people can break away from the stereotype. Since these people cannot help falling into the conventional patterns, they are likely to be less impressive, less noticeable and less successful.
A great majority of successful people attribute their achievements to their originality. In
the field of sports, super athletes excel others by tapping their initiatives. Excellent scholars, novelists and artists etc. are often approved because of their creativeness. Even applicants can fulfill their wishes when they express themselves in special, unusual and commendable ways.
We are not stupid; we hate to be outdone. Why not think aloud, work hard and stand out by employing our originality?

Unity Is Strength
The sonic saying that unity is strength is frequently referred to by many people. Although much work needs to be done by individuals separately at present, more often than not we have to cooperate with and unite others to make the desirable results. In doing scientific study, in conducting sports activities, in agricultural and industrial manufacturing, in wining certain campaigns, we can often strengthen us and make great progress only by uniting others.
Great achievements in various aspects domestically and abroad are made because of the spirit of unity. The establishment of the new China is due to the joint efforts of Chinese people when they united as one. To win any team games, unity is of an essential factor. Once a participant fails to coordinate and cooperate with others, the chance of their team winning the game is rather slim. A famous writer once said, I could make such achievements because I was standing on the shoulders of the giants. In other words, he succeeded because he united his own strength with those of others.
Some people lack the spirit of unity. Actually, some people may fail miserably as they rely on themselves only and resist any help from others exclusively. Sometimes it works to be alone but more often it is more rewarding to unite others in work and life. A wise way for us is to unite others whenever necessary.

Never Take Things for Granted
Nowadays we can easily find that there are many people, especially the young, take things for granted negligently in whatever they do and whatever they say. What’s worse, they do not take their inappropriate behaviors seriously even when some people make negative comments on them in public. All of us should refrain from this action as it shows lack of culture and nurture.
Such uncivilized behavior can be attributed to several reasons. Firstly, with the one-child policy of each couple, many young people and children are the emperors of their families. Parents and grand parents are under the dictate of them unreasonably. It is no wonder that they tend to take things for granted. Secondly, young people are likely to be influenced by some unhealthy phenomena directly. They may blindly copy those who behave and swagger overbearingly like a conquering hero. Consciously or unconsciously they fall into the habit of taking things for granted with increasing intensity.
Taking things for granted always does little or no good for one’s sturdily growing up. As children are usually unconscious or inattentive of their deeds, family education as well as school education should play a part in nurturing polite, considerate and respectful children.

When it comes to the controversial issue of attitudes to life, people may respond more or less alike. Generally speaking, people may fall into three main categories according to their personalities and temperaments. Some people are active, positive and enthusiastic; some may be passive, negative and pessimistic; and there are still some who are in the middle of these two kinds. People of different attitudes enjoy themselves quite differently.
Active and optimistic people are always happy and confident. They usually get along with others well and are often popular among their acquaintances. They can face any challenges and difficulties in life and work bravely. They can also approach their lucks and success candidly. As they smile at life constantly, life smiles at them eternally.
Undoubtedly, there are some people who detest the world and its ways. They are not willing to take vigorous lead in advancing ahead. Use Our Mother Tongue Well
For the past decades, foreign language learning has become increasingly hot in our country. Students in almost every school and many people in the society are learning English out of subjective or objective reasons. Meanwhile, the ability to use our mother tongue, a very beautiful and significant language with a long history used by one quarter of the world population, even among many Chinese is unjustly declining. Wrongly written characters and incoherent sentences are easily found everywhere. We cannot afford to ignore this undesirable
phenomenon.
These years greatly influenced by some social tides such as going abroad, working in foreign enterprises, many learners especially school students exert more efforts in English study than in Chinese. Moreover, our educational systems have set strict requirements for all levels of students. Students have to underline their English at the expense of underestimating Chinese.
To keep up with the tide, families, for fear of their children lagging behind, bring all into play to help them study English.
The deterioration in using Chinese is nothing to be taken lightly. Government should make profitable and feasible reforms accordingly. Schools as well as families ought to strike a balance between English and Chinese to keep our mother tongue as influential, glorious and admirable as it was.

From the table we can see there is a steady increase in the number of high school students who wear glasses during the past 15 years in two major high schools, from 1990 to 2005. In
the city school, in 1990, only 21% of students wore glasses, but with the passage of time the percentages rose proportionally until to 82% in 2005. Students with glasses in the country school also increased six times in the same period from 8% to 43%. This sharp increase is nothing to be ignored.
Why there is such a dramatic growth? In my opinion, three main reasons are relevant. Firstly, many students lose their eyesight because of their bad reading habit. They may fix
their eyes upon books and screens intensively and continually for several hours without resting. Secondly, the quality of the reading materials is below standard. The script and the distance between lines are too small to please the eye. Thirdly, many students read in a poor light and therefore suffer from poor eyesight.
In sum, many factors lead to our poor eyesight. We have to analyze the reasons and try to avoid our undue behaviors. High-quality books, well-lighted rooms, together with good reading habits can prevent us from losing eyesight, thus avoiding wearing burdensome glasses.

Combat Waste and Extravagance
The phenomenon of waste and extravagance exists almost everywhere. In the dining halls and restaurants for example, foods and drinks are extravagantly wasted day after day. In dustbins and at rubbish heaps: new and half-new articles are discarded lamentably. Wasting of less invisible things such as time, energy and money is also horrifying.
People waste a lot out of the following reasons according to my understanding. First of all, they fail to realize the value of the things, so they throw away them carelessly. Secondly, they throw aside many things because of their unhealthy state of mind. They always want to be better than others in every aspect. The things that make them seem inferior to others may be abandoned relentlessly. Finally, financial support from their families fosters this bad practice unconsciously. Today’s parents try every means to satisfy their children’s reasonable or unreasonable requirements. This can indirectly and imperceptibly encourage waste.
Chinese people as a whole are not well off and in many aspects far behind others. Yet our rate of waste ranks high internationally. Chairman Mao once warned waste is a big crime. I think this slogan still holds water. Let’s stop making unnecessary waste and extravagance and bring all potentialities of our possessions into full play.

On Information
Information plays an important role in all walks of life in our society. Our era is often referred to as information age. As is well known, students need information to obtain certain academic information at school and to pursue good jobs upon graduation. Peasants need agricultural information to improve their production and thus their living standard. Businessmen need market information to better their management and maximize their profits. Military information may be vitally important in warfare.
We can get information through various means. The most important one is via the mass media. We often gain information by watching TV, listening to the radio, reading the newspaper and surfing on the Net etc. Another important source of information is the human beings around us. Read Extensively
People attach great importance to reading because it plays a very important part in human life. We acquire our intellectual knowledge by reading mostly. We get to know the things happened in the past, are happening at present and will happen in the future by reading mainly. We learn to know the foreign nations and their people by reading dominantly. Reading especially extensive reading is one of the most convenient and economical ways to obtain knowledge and information.
Extensive reading is of great importance mainly because there are so many aspects we need to know and our life expectancy is limited. On the one hand, we need to acquire much knowledge and information in today’s swiftly developing society. We have to read speedily to keep up the times. On the other hand, our life span is limited, so we cannot afford to read every piece of information in detail and every subject intensively. Now and then, we employ the methods of scanning and skimming to gain the necessary information swiftly.
Reading makes a full man. Extensive reading is an essential aspect of reading, so we ought to train ourselves with this specific reading ability. We should practice reading extensively and successfully at the same time.
