完型填空解题技巧
完形填空是一种旨在考查学生语法和词汇知识综合运用能力的典型题，难易程度与初中教材相当，词数在180-250左右。文中平均每隔25个词左右设空。学生通过推理判断，综合分析等将答案填入空白处，使短文前后连贯、意思通顺、结构完整合理。中考完形填空抛弃了传统的“语法知识型”命题模式，转变成“情境能力型”的命题趋势。它的一个显著特点就是突出语篇，即重在文意的干扰，把具体的语言知识融进具体的语言情境中去，考查学生通过上下文对整体文意进行把握的能力。
（一）从文章结构看
1.首句通常不设空，以便考生对短文前提和背景有个较清楚的了解，从而使考生尽快
熟悉语境、推测文章大意。
2.短文设空平均密度为25个单词一个空。
（二）从语言层次看
考点设计对把握语段的要求在提高。我们可以把考点分为三个层次，即句子层次、句群层次和语篇层次
句子层次的设空指那些只需读懂设空所在句便可选出答案的题目。

Hi Sam! Sorry I haven’t emailed recently—I’ve been revising for my exams. I have finished them now and I have got some time to relax and some money to spend on going out. Last weekend, I went to see a great film called Yes Man. If you haven’t seen it, you must go! Jim Carrey plays the main character and it’s very funny--and also quite encouraging. It’s based on a book by Danny Wallace which is also called Yes Man. I read the book a few months ago and that’s hilarious, too – I really laughed out loud!
The book is a true story about what happens to the writer, Danny. Basically, he found that he was doing nothing all the time, just worrying about things and complaining about his life. He wasn’t seeing his friends much, so he was lonely and bored. Then one day, he was on a bus in London when he sat down next to a man. The man was a stranger, but they started talking. Danny told him about his boring life and the man just gave him three words: ‘Say “yes” more.’ And for Danny this was a turning point in his life. Those three words influenced everything he did. At that moment, he made a decision: ‘I will say “yes” to everything!’ And he wrote a book about what happened to him in the next year or so. Three years later, the book was made into a hit film.
The film is based on the book although there are some differences. First, it’s set
in the US instead of England. Secondly, the main character is based on Danny, but he called Carl in the film. And what’s more, he doesn’t meet a man on a bus. His turning point comes when he goes to a self-help class and they advise him to say “yes” more.
In the film, Carl succeeds in changing his life and doing lots of crazy things: he has flying lessons, he learns to speak Korean and he rides a motorbike with no clothes on! The storyline isn’t very strong. It’s quite weak, I suppose, but all Carl’s stories are very interesting— especially because Jim Carrey is a very funny actor.
I’m really interested in the film because there’s a serious message, too. I believe in making the most of life and I’ve decided I’m going to be more positive. I’ve decided I’m not going to stay at home so much. I’m going to do more things, see my friends more and everything. Actually, that’s why I’m emailing you! It would be great if we could meet up soon. Kamal Meattle, in New Delhi, India, grows 400 plants in his office building’s greenhouse to help clean its indoor air.
On the roof of an office building in India’s capital, the world’s smoggest city, Kamal Meattle has a special way of cleaning the air: a greenhouse with 400 common plants. Meattle has 800 other plants spread throughout its lower six floors, greening each room and hallway. Their job: remove harmful things from the outdoor air.
Meattle uses rainwater to water the trees so that they can grow faster and take in more pollutants. He’s asking India’s new government to require rainwater farming and to paint roofs, and buses, white. A nd he’s pushing to build one of the world’s largest parks, complete with greenhouses.
As Meattle tells it, he really had no choice but to try something new. “My doctors told me to leave India in 1992,” he says, mentioning his breathing problem because of the city’s air pollution. He decided to stay, trying instead to solve a society-wide problem that’s become increasingly serious.
“Delhi’s unfit for living between October and March,” Meattle says, noting how often its air pollution becomes “very unhealthy”or even “dangerous”. In fact, New Delhi’s smog is now nearly three times worse than Beijing’s. The WHO found that the city had the world’s dirtiest air, and the cities from second to fourth are also in India. India’s indoor air pollution is even worse. Th e WHO says it’s India’s second biggest killer, after high blood pressure, and results in 1.3 million deaths every year.
But can plants really clean the air?
NASA published several studies in the 1980s showing indoor plants could clean the air. It later tested the value of the plants to both clean air and recycle waste in building known as the BioHome. Other studies have also suggested that plants could help clean indoor air.
Wolverton, a NASA researcher, has been working in Japan, where plants have been used to make 50 to 60 “ecological gardens(生态花园)” in hospitals. He says there’s growing interest in South Korea and China.
Not everyone believes that. “I certainly would not count on plants to clean indoor air…” To get them to work, you’d need too many plants, ” says John Girman. He says a 1,500-square-foot house would need 680 plants and the result would be “an indoor forest”.
“We have an air treatment plant,” Meattle says of his idea. The result, he adds, is fewer worker sick days, great productivity, and air as clean as that in Davos, Switzerland.
