In the late 19th century, a new art movement became popular. It was called Impressionism (印象派)and began with the famous artist Claude Monet.

December 5, 2016 marked 90 years since the painter's death. On November 16, 2016, his painting Meule sold for more than $81 million (559 million yuan). This was one of the biggest art sales ever.

Meule was painted in 1891 and is part of the 25-painting Haystacks collection. Each work shows at least one large hay bale (#h) in different types of light and weather. US artist Brooke Lampley told China Daily, "He [Monet] did completely new things with 20th-century abstract art (抽象艺术).”

Monet spent most of his life trying to paint outdoor scenes. One day, while drawing, he met his first art teacher, Eugene Boudin. Boudin encouraged the young Monet to become a natural scenery painter. Monet later said, all of a sudden. realized what painting could be. I could see my own destiny(命运) as a painter.”

In the 1870s, Monet started painting the same scene at different times of day. He took six canvases(油画布) and painted the changes he'd see during the day, be they light, shadows, or weather.

Painting these changes became Monet's art style and was later named Impressionism after his 1873 painting Impression, Sunrise.

Humans and gorillas(大猩猩) shared evolution(进化)for23 million years. Their paths separated only six million years ago. New research on how gorillas communicate may help us better understand human language.

Understanding how the brain works helps us see a connection (联系) between language development and non-verbal(不使用语言的) signs. “Gorillas have many kinds of non-verbal communication.” said psychologist(心理学家) Sebestyen Forrester. from the University of Sussex. He thinks humans may have had the same communication skills.

Non-verbal communication includes the ways we move our bodies and the different expressions on our faces.

A new study on gorillas showed that right-handedness may have a connection with communication. The right side of the body is controlled by the left part of the brain, which is also where language develops.

Two cameras were used to watch how one gorilla moved. It was shown that gorillas use their right hands more when they are doing actions with their heads or mouths at the same time. This may show that there is a connection between how our brains work and the reason we use one side I of our body more than the other.

Forrester said the results could help us understand how children learn languages. For example, some children have a condition called autism (自闭症) in which they have a hard time communicating with other people. This same kind of study may help doctors find autism in children at an earlier age.

36. The shared evolution of gorillas and humans separated about ______ million years age

(A)When people express themselves, they want at least two things: they've been heard and they've been understood. As a good listener, some steps are useful toward good listening.

The first step is cooperating (合作). How does a person know that you're listening and understanding? (B)In fact, it's through the way you look and sound while he is talking. You may help him to fully express his thoughts and feelings. You do this by nodding your head in agreement, making certain sounds of understanding.

Having heard what he has to say, the next step is clarifying(变得明晰) At this point, you start to gather information about what is being expressed. You can ask some open-ended questions. (C)They will allow you to find out what he wants to be satisfied with.

The third step is to summarize(概括) what you've heard This allows you to make sure that both you and the person are on the same page. When you do this, two things happen. First, if you've missed something, he can fill in the details. Second, you've shown that you're making an effort to understand completely. This helps get cooperation from him.

第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)

阅读短文,根据短文内容,回答下列问题。

Life has changed quickly since COVID-19(2019冠状病毒病)broke out worldwide. Many people find themselves isolated(隔绝的)at home, bored and lonely. But if we look at history, there are many great people who produced their best work when they were alone.

Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, and James Clerk Maxwell, three of the greatest physicists in history, worked by themselves most of the time. They learned from others not by working with them directly, but by reading their papers and books.

American philosopher(哲学家)Henry Thoreau is another example. In 1845, he built a cabin (木屋)in the woods and lived there in solitude(孤独)for two years. Isolation led to his book Walden, which is about nature, simplicity(质朴)and beauty. As he wrote: "I never found the companion(陪伴)that was so companionable as solitude.[It allows you to] be a Columbus to whole new continents(大陆)and worlds within you, opening new channels, not of trade, but of thought.”

One advantage of staying alone, as we may all find, is the lack(缺少)of distractions(干扰). In daily life, when we need to focus, even small talk can throw us off course. Therefore, choosing to isolate yourself from time to time can improve your productivity greatly. What's more, our sensitivity(敏感)to criticism(批评)from others can stop our progress. We are better at expressing ourselves and thinking freely on our own.

According to Barbara Ess, an American photographer, isolation also forces us to pay attention to the details of life and surroundings(周围环境)that we wouldn't normally see. This special experience helps us think more deeply about ourselves and our environment, which leads to even greater creativity.

61. In what situation did those great physicists produce their best works?

________________________________________________________________________________________ 62. What is the book Walden about?

________________________________________________________________________________________ 63. Why does being alone help you improve productivity?

________________________________________________________________________________________ 64. What is the last paragraph mainly about?
