At the last semester of Higher Diploma, students have to work on a team project, which may consist of 3 to 5 students per project depending on complexity of the project chosen. Project Time Frame
Students are given a time frame of 3 to 4 months to complete their projects starting from proposal to final delivery of the projects.
1.To make sure that student can apply their knowledge gained during their
studies of International Diploma and Higher Diploma in Computer Studies.
2.To be able to discover new subject areas that enable them to do some research
works to solve the real-world problems.
3.To ensure that students gained team development concept by working as team
leader or as a member of the team.
4.To equip the students with effective presentation skills using audio-visual aids.
The subject area and scope of the project are not limited as long as analysis, design, implementation and programming are involved. The students are free to choose PC platform, mobile platform, with various operating systems, client-server computing, distributed computing, AI applications, stand alone applications, web-based application, web sites, web services, intranet applications, messaging, VoIP, etc.
* The project chosen must be able to undergo through full System Development Life Cycle.
Every group project must have project supervisor who is a member of faculty Computer Science / Computer Engineering or related discipline.
Responsibilities of Supervisor
A project supervisor will be responsible for the following tasks:
To guide the students in project proposal
To make sure that number of students in the group and proposed project is reasonable
To supervise division of labor among the group of students for the project
To guide the students in project scheduling
To ensure that the project schedules are met
To arrange for regular discussion meetings with the students
To advice the students as and when necessary in program design, database design, etc.
To supervise the students in preparing documentations
To arrange for the mini-presentation sessions with the students
Appointment of Supervisors
Students must select an appropriate project supervisor for their project provided that
he/she is a member of faculty.
Other arrangements of appointments are acceptable, depending on the administration of the partner institute. For example, the program manager (the person in charge of IHDCS) may appoint supervisors for each group of students.
Supervisor to Project Ratio
To ensure maximum effectiveness of the project supervision, supervisor to project ratio is limited to 1:6.
The students have to work closely with their supervisor to decide on their scope of project and once it is finalized, the following information (electronic submission preferred) has to submit to the local office (or to the person in charge of IHDCS):
1.Project Title
2.Brief description of the project scenario
https://www.doczj.com/doc/2514010576.html, and Registration No. of the project leader
https://www.doczj.com/doc/2514010576.html,s and Registration Nos. of the team members
https://www.doczj.com/doc/2514010576.html, of the supervisor
6.Contact information of the supervisor
The local office has to gather all the project proposal and assign Project Group Number to each and every group (Group 1, Group 2, etc) and every group has to be notified their Project Group Number. And all these information have to be submitted to Genetic Computer School.
For the development of the project, students are permitted to use center's lab facilities or they may choose to develop the project on their own PC or laptops. It is suggested that if
the students need to use special software or software components, it will be the best to use their own PC or laptop so that they can bring their development PC or laptop during the presentation.
Students are required to plan for regular meetings among themselves and with their project supervisor.
After completion of the project, every group has to submit their works 3 weeks prior to the final examination. Every group must submit following documents to local office: Hard Copies
1.Basic Knowledge (1 printed copy of A4 size)
2.System Guide (1 printed copy of A4 size)
https://www.doczj.com/doc/2514010576.html,er's Guide (1 printed copy of A4 size)
Hard copies must have a cover page (hard cover preferred) with school name, group number, project name and team members' names and registration numbers.
Soft Copies (in CD or DVD)
1.Project Files (including program source codes and necessary files)
2.Soft copies of above 3 documents (in Word or in PDF)
3.Project presentation files in PowerPoint format

This document includes general introduction of infrastructure and technology used in the project. The document should not be more than 150 printed pages.
System Guide
This document should include the following topics:
Project scenario
Project schedules

Limitations of the Project
Future Development Plans
User's Guide
This document should include the following topics:
Hardware and software requirements
Installation instructions
How to use the software
Project presentations are normally held in the second exam period of the year, that is, in July of every year.
Every member of the group must do the presentation in front of the Project Assessment Committee. Normally, project presentations are arranged in the classrooms and are open to all interested parties to attend the presentation.
Requirements
Each and every member of the group has to present technical contents of what they have done in the project.
Each presentation shall be divided into 3 sessions, PowerPoint Presentation by each member, Live Demo, and Q & A sessions.

Program design
Database design
Hardware and software requirements
Limitations of the project
Future development plans
Live demo of the project
Run the program
Explain different menus/functions of the program
Questions and answers
Q & A between committee members and students
Preparation for the Presentation
Students are required to make sure all necessary audio-visual aids, PC (or laptops) installed with necessary software and tools are in working condition before the presentation.
Language
The project, presentations, documentations and other form of communications must be in English language.
Time Limitation
The time limit for the entire Project Presentation is 1 hour and 30 minutes. Each member of the group is given about 7 to 10 mins to do their part of presentation. The rest will be for "Live Demo" and "Q & A" sessions.
Dress code
Project group members are required to wear formal dress. No T-shirts, shorts, and Jeans are allowed.
Seventy percent of final project marks are assessed by the Project Assessment Committee (during the presentation) and thirty percent is evaluated by Genetic Computer School (after the project presentation).
Project Assessment Committees
The project assessment committees should be formed to assess the students during their project presentations. Each committee should include minimum of three members: The supervisor of the project
One examiner from Genetic Computer School
None supervising faculty member of that project (he/she may be supervisor of another group)
Each project is assessed in the following areas:
Program Design
Program Coding
Documentation
Program Testing and Implementation
Presentation
General Approach
Genetic Computer School will provide project marking scheme for the committee members to use during project assessments.
The partner institute (local office) will be responsible for the following tasks: Submission of final project proposals (1 month after the start of semester)
Assignment of Presentation Coordinator
o Collection of final project submissions
o Preparation of classrooms for the project presentation
o Presentation Scheduling
Submission of Final Project Proposal
Once the students have finalized their proposal with their project supervisor, the local office has to compile all the proposals, assign project group numbers and has to submit all these information to Genetic Computer School. These should be submitted within 1 month after the start of project semester.
Assignment of Presentation Coordinator
The local office may need to assign one of the admin staff as Project Presentation Coordinator, who will be responsible for
Collection of final project submissions
