《机械专业英语》课程标准

二、课程性质和任务

本课程是机制专业的专业课程,是在学生完成大学英语的学习及本专业基础专业课程的基础上进行的一门专业课程,教学时数为48学时,3学分。

机械类专业英语的教学任务是,从专业工作的实际需要出发,通过教学,讲授科技英语的语法特点和文体结构,以及科技英语文献的翻译方法和技巧,使学生掌握一定数量的机械专业英语常用词汇、专业术语,能够基本正确地阅读和理解机械专业英语书籍和文献,能借助词典阅读和翻译有关英语业务资料,在涉外交际的日常活动和业务活动中进行简单的口头和书面交流,并为今后进一步提高英语的交际能力打下基础。

三、课程教学目标

本课程为以提高学生机械类专业英语阅读和翻译能力为主要目标。通过本课程的学习,使学生显著提高学生阅读原文专业书刊和翻译国外设备技术文件的能力,同时巩固和加深已有专业知识,了解本学科的发展前沿及国外本学科领域的发展趋势。

(一)知识目标

1)使学生掌握机电专业领域的一些常用词汇、词组和特殊句型结构;

2)使学生了解专业英语的特点及语法结构特点;

3)掌握基本的英语语法规则,并能运用所学的语法知识;

4)使学生掌握专业英语的翻译技巧,能基本学会涉及专业业务的结构简单的日常语言的翻译。

(二)能力目标

1)使学生理解阅读相关专业一般难度英文材料的能力;

2)具有进行简单的专业英语交流的能力。

3)使学生借助词典能够阅读本专业领域中等难度的英语文章;

4)翻译英文文章的能力。

5)拓展学生运用英语进行交际的范围和继续学习的能力。

(三)素质目标

1)使学生在学习过程中增进对国外机电专业知识的了解;激发学生的学习兴趣;发展学生的智力,提高他们的观察、注意、记忆、思维、想象、联想等能力;

2)通过知识教学的过程培养学生自学能力;

3)培养学生的创新精神和实践能力,努力为学生的终身发展奠定语言基础和专业基础;

4)培养学生善于沟通交流和团队协助的能力。

1、为保证学生学习效果良好,应配备参观学习基地,使课堂中能够做到理论联系实际。

六、本课程与前后课程的联系

本课程是学生在完成一年办或两年公共英语学习基础上的英语继续学习,学习了机械类相关专业课基础上开设的一门专业课,具备一定专业知识后在学习该课程能够使学生比较容易接受,教学环节顺序进行。

七、课程实施建议

1、本课程与《机械制造基础》、《金属切削机床》等课程内容衔接,讲解时要注意学生对相关知识的补充理解。

2、本课程的内容较多,注意教学方法,对重点内容讲透,鼓励学生自学和课上讨论,调动学生的学习主动性。

3、教学组织形式实现多样化,除了常规课堂授课外,尽量利用现代化的教学手段。

八、考核与评价

考试内容应紧扣教材内容,结合本校教学设备和其他专业课程教学进度。建议教师设计一份题型丰富、体现英语应用能力、实践能力、创新能力等多种能力考核的开放型的考试卷。在考试内容上减少“死题”,增加“活题”,既需要学生正确掌握专业知识,同时需要掌握一定量的专业词汇及基本的专业英语阅读技能,两者缺一不可。可以将专业课程的试题改编成英文版。考试时可以允许学生带词典进入考场,培养学生运用有效的学习工具进行自学和获取信息的能力,也培养学生独立思考、吃苦耐劳、持之以恒的精神。

机械专业英语翻译软件 机械专业英语 (Science Readers of Machinery) 教学大纲 (学时范围:48学时) 一、课程性质和任务 本课程是机械设计制造及其自动化专业的一门选修课。通过本课程的学习,使学生达到基本能够阅读本专业一般英语资料的目的。 二、课程内容及要求 本课程通过课堂教学,使学生基本掌握本专业领域的一些常用词汇、词组和句型结构,基本能够阅读本专业领域一般难度的英语文章,并借助词典能够阅读本专业领域中等难度的英语文章。 本课程的基本内容包括: (1)材料与成型加工 (2)机器部件与设计 (3)机床与机加工 (4)制造与自动化 (5)现代制造工程与发展 以上内容均由三部分组成,包括:单词与词组、重点句的翻译及分析、课后阅读。 本课程的基本要求包括 了解:课后阅读材料的内容,能理解阅读材料大意。 熟悉:课文原意,能将课文翻译成中文。 掌握:课文中所出现的词汇与重点句型。 三、本课程与其它相关课程的联系与分工 先修课程:机械设计、机械制造基础、数控技术、现代制造工程等。 后续课程:毕业设计。 四、实践性教学内容的安排与要求 本课程的实践环节主要通过课后多次阅读所学课文,并对重点句进行中文翻译。 五、本课程在课外作业练习方面的要求 本课程的课外作业主要为课后阅读,并将重点句英语翻译成汉语。 六、本课程在使用现代化教学手段方面的要求 无特殊要求。 七、教材及参考书 教材:黄运尧编,机械专业英语阅读教程,机械工业出版社,1998年八、本课程成绩的考核方法及评定标准 本课程的考核以笔试为主,主要考查将本专业领域的英文文章翻译为汉语,成绩

一、 Can Money Buy Happiness? (金钱能买来幸福) Money plays all important role ii1 our everyday life. It has been a favorite topic for discussion a mong ail kinds of people, young and old, men and women. With the establishment of the market economy and the development of society, more and more people are paying their attention to th e function of money. Some say that money is the source of happiness while others hold a negativ e attitude and regard money as the root of all evils. In my opinion, money can both benefit people and do harm to them. First, we can't deny that money is useful We need money to buy our daily necessities such as food, houses and clothing, et c. Generally speaking, more money can make us live more comfortably. Secondly, if we have more money, we can take part in more social activities. We can travel widely and have more experienc e. We can receive higher education, increase our knowledge and develop our skills. In addition, W e will have more ways to help others. All those can help us live an interesting and meaningful life. However, money can also do harm to us, especially when we have large amounts of it. If a pers on p[aces money prior to anything else, he will tend to lose the p[easure of his life. Since everythi ng means nothing to him except caring for more money, he will lose friends, or even the care and warmth from his family. If this happens, money on[y brings to him loneliness.
