Teaching Content: Writing

Teaching goals:

a. Review vocabulary:bus stop, bus station, train station, subway station next, then, finally minute, take, how far, kilometer, mile.

b. Review students' writing ability:

1.How do you get to school?

2. How does it take?

3 How far is it from…to …?

4.Most students ride their bikes to school.

5. Many students walk.

6.Some Other students take the bus. students drive. A small number of students take the subway.

7.How far do you live from school?

8.I live 10 miles from school..

Suggestions& Explanation

Step Ⅰ Warming-up

1. Look the transportation designs .

2.Review the patterns.

If they use these words “first, next, then” , give them presents and praise them.

Step Ⅱ Review and pair work.

1.Review some words on the screen. Then recite words、sentences and ask students to repeat.

There are so many transportations around the world. What kind of transportation do you like to choose ?

Ask how do you get to school/Shanghai/ Hangzhou/Kunming /Paris….?

2.Help the students answer:

I take the subway./take the bus

take a minibus /take a taxi

take the train / take the plane

take the ship/take the car

ride my/a bike

ride a motorbike/walk

take the ropeway

2. Guess and say:" What do you think of transportations do you know? " Well, let's make a competition.

Tell differences of two pictures .

Let's who know more than others.

(Maybe students can exert their imagination.)

Step Ⅲ Discussing

1.Do you like your trip ?

2.How do you get to school?

3.Which one is your favorite traffic way? Why ?

4.Can it make our energy saving and emission reduction(节能减排)?

5.Please talk about your favorite transportation.

Step Ⅳ Writing

1.First let students think which vocabularies will be use

2. Questions: 1). How do you get to school? 2).Do you like your trip to school?

3).When do you leave home? 4).How far is it from your home to school?

5).How long does it take you to get to school? 6).Which one is your favorite traffic way? Why ?

( Make sure students know what to do. )

3. Write your own passage.

Step Ⅴ Task

1. Task one : Show your passage in your group.

2. Task two: Exchange and Check the passages.

3. Task three: Choose the best one in each group.

Step Ⅶ Self Check

Ask students to rewrite their own sentences with the words.

Step Ⅷ Homework :

Imagine you meet an American who arrives at the airport . He doesn’t know the transportation way in Kunming . He doesn't know the best way to travel in Kunming city. Can you tell him?
