【先睹为快】

(2016中考模拟题中的阅读理解)。阅读下列短文,从每小题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

What does it mean to be green? "Green" is more than just a color. It also means taking special steps to protect the environment — the water, the land, and the air we breathe. Why green? Plants are green, and without them, the Earth wouldn't be such a lovely home for us human beings.

How to be green? Reduce the amount of stuff you use and throw away. Reuse stuff when you can recycle cans, bottles, paper, books, and even toys. Enjoy the Earth — walk in the woods, plant a tree, and eat some of the delicious food it produces.

Reduce It! When you use less of something, you do a good thing for the Earth. For instance, a shorter shower means you used less water and less fuel since your house uses fuel to run the water heater that warmed up the water. Turn off lights you're not using. They last longer and use more energy. Turn off the water when you're brushing your teeth. When you can walk or ride your bike instead of driving in the car. You'll use less gas — and get some exercise! Put your computer to "sleep" instead of leaving it on with the screensaver running.

2016中考英语阅读理解分类练习:人生百味类

阅读下面短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。

As a child, I was really afraid of the dark and of getting lost. These fears were very real and caused me some

uncomfortable moments.

Maybe it was the strange way things looked and sounded in my own room at night that scared (使惊恐) me so much. There was never complete darkness, but always a streetlight or passing car lights, which made clothes on the back of a chair take on the shape of a wild animal.Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the curtains (窗帘) seem to move when there was no wind.A very low sound in the floor would seem a hundred times louder than in the day.My imagination would run wild, and my heart would beat fast.I would lie very still so that the “enemy” would not discover me.

Another of my childhood fears was that I would get lost, especially on the way home from school.Every morning I got on the school bus right near my home. That was no problem. After school, though, when all the buses were lined up along the street, I was afraid that I would get in the wrong one and be taken to some other strange places. On school or family trips to a park or a museum, I wouldn?t let the leaders out of my sight.

Perhaps one of the worst fears of all I had as a child was that of not being liked or accepted by others.Being popular was so important t o me then, and the fear of not being liked was a serious one.

One of the processes (过程) about growing up is being able to realize and overcome (克服) our fears.Understanding the things that scared us as children helps us achieve greater success later in life.
