It is difficult for parents of nearly every family to teach their children to be resposible for housework, but with one of the following suggestions, you really can get your children to help at home.

If you give your children the impresssion that they can do anything quite right, then they will regard themselves as unfit or unable persons. Unless the children believe that they can succeed, they will never become totally independent.

My daughter Carla 's fifth-grade teacher made every child in her class special. When students received less than a perfect test score, she would point out what they had mastered and declare firmly they could learn what they had missed.

You can use the same technique when you evaluate your child 's work at home. Don 't always scold and give lots of praise instead. Talk about what he has done right, not about what he hasn 't done. If your child completes a difficult task, promise him a Sunday trip or a ball game with Dad.

Learning is a process of trying and failing and trying and succeeding. If you teach your children not to fear a mistake of failure, they will learn faster and achieve success at last.

Life on the land probably began about 430 million years ago, though it has existed in the water for perhaps as much as 3,000 million years. When we think of the first thing on land, we probably think of strange animals coming out of the oceans, but in fact no animals could have been living if plants had not been on land first. Plants had to be on land before animals arrived. They supplied the first land animals with the surroundings and food necessity, since they, the plants, are the only form of life that is able to get and store energy.

The first plants to exist out of water were probably certain kinds of algae(藻类) which were followed by other plants that grew close to th ground and needed water in which to reproduce (繁殖). Once the move to land had been made, however, evolution took place quickly. By the end of 100 million years, plants had developed their roots, and some had got tree-like forms since height was very important in gaining sunlight. About 300 million years ago, much of the world was covered with forests of huge trees. In most ways, they were like modern trees. They had roots, leaves, wood, but mostly they had not developed seeds.

65. The main idea of the first paragraph is ______ .

第二节(共 3 小题,每小题2 分,满分 6 分)阅读下面短文,简要回答问题,并将答案转写到答题卡上When several different people look at the same person, it is not unusual for each of them to see different things; when you alone observe one behavior or one person at two different times, you may see different things. The following are about some of the factors that lead to these different senses.

⑴ Each person ' s senses of others are formed by his or her own background, cultural condition, education, personal experiences, and even people around him or her.

⑵ Sometimes senses differ because of what we choo se to observe and how we deal with what we ' ve observed.

It is not necessarily true that person sense is based on observations of a particular person.

Your observati ons may be totally con trolled by what others have told you about this pers on; or you may cen ter

mainly on the situati on or role relati on ship. Most people do not use the same sta ndard to measure their pare nts, their

frien ds, and stra ngers.

⑶ Some times we see only what we want to see or don ' t see what may be obvious to others because of our own

n eeds, desires, or temporary emoti onal states. This is a process known as selective sen se. Selective sense is obviously

more difficult when stimulus information is particularly obvious, but it can be done. We can have none of this opposite information “ He' s basically a good boy so what I saw was not shoplifting. ” We can reduce the of the opposite in formati on. ” All kids get into n aughty behavior. Taking a book from bookstore isn ' deal. ” We can change the meaning of the opposite information ” It wasn ' t shoplifting because he was going to

it later. ”

73. Find a word in the passage closest in meaning to the underlined word “ stimulus ”.

74. What will the author th ink of the basically good boy ' s taki ng a book from boo答词r数不超过5 个)

75. What does the author want to tell us in this passage?(回答词数不超过10 个)
