Fireworks safety starts before a firework is even sold. It begins with the producers, who need to follow strict (严格的)rules in making their fireworks. That doesn ’t mean every firework is safe enough, though.

So what can you do to enjoy the fireworks and still stay safe? Going to public fireworks places is the best way. Before using fireworks, find out what the rules are in your city. If you live in the city that allows fireworks and you’re planning a do-it-yourself celebration, follow the safety advice to protect(保护)yourself and the people watching:

Make sure an adult is to be with you at all times.

Don’t allow little kids to play with fireworks.

Always use fireworks outside with water nearby. Keep fireworks away from dry leaves and other things that can easily catch fire.

Light one firework at a time. Keep the firework you’re lighting well away from unlit(未点燃的)fireworks.

Point fireworks away from people. If you’re lighting a firework, wear eye protection and put the firework pointing up.

If a firework doesn’t seem to work, don’t try to light it again. Stand back for a while and throw water over it.

Put all fireworks into the water before throwing them away.

Keep fireworks in a cool, dry place.

If someone is hurt in the eye by fireworks, don’t rub the eye. Call 999 or go to the nearest hospital.

51. In this article, the word “you” means _________.

A. old people

B. school students

C. fireworks producers

52. What shall we do if a firework doesn’t seem to work?

A. Wait and throw water over it

B. Light another firework.

C. Try to light it again quickly.

D. Call 999 for help at once.

53. What’s the article mainly about?

We do some strange things when we don’t like the way our life is going. Too often we blame (埋怨)someone else.

“I wish my parents were more understanding.”

“I have such a bad Chemistry teacher!”

“My friends are so boring and self-centred. They make my life worse and worse.”

Blame! Blame! Blame!

It seems natural to sing this self-pitying song, but the truth is, if you don’t like your life, you should do something about it. No one else knows exactly how you feel or what you need. No one can read your mind correctly. You are the only one with the power(能力)to check your life, and if

you want it to be different, you can change what you’re doing. This means asking…“What do I need? What do I want to do?” instead of trying to meet others’ needs. For example, try to decide how you want to spend your evening instead of asking somebody else for advice. We teach other people how we want to be treated. If we don’t think of our own needs, no one else will either.

When you’re in trouble, don’t give away your power to decide how you feel about yourself. Choose how you want to think and act(行动). Other people can’t make you unhappy or angry. They only act in their own way and then it’s up to you to decide how you will respond(回应). For example, your friends go out to lunch without you. You feel angry. How are you going to act? You may blame your friends…“They’re not kind. Who needs them anyway?” or you may tell your friends how you feel, listen to their explanation(解释), and let them know you’d like to be invited next time.

When you decide everything in your own way, you’re getting hold of your own life and shaping it according to your tastes and feelings. You can choose to be happy, to make friends and to build an interesting life. When you blame others for what is or isn’t happening in your life, you have stopped growing or learning.

One of the most important rules is that you can never change another person by your direct action. The only person you have the right and power to change is yourself. Once you change, the other person then has something different to respond to and change is possible. If you want change in your life, begin with yourself…put love into your power to take action.

55. What should we do if we don’t like our life?

A. Sing that self-pitying song.

B. Read our minds correctly.

C. Change what we’re doing.

D. Tell others what we want.

56. If the writer’s friends have dinner together without him, he may _________.

A. forget it and be still friendly with them

B. talk to them and try to find out why

C. do the same thing to them in return

D. ask somebody else to talk to them

57. What’s the writer’s idea about how to change others?

A. He thinks it’s impossible to change others.

B. He believes our love can change everything.

C. He chooses to talk with others directly.

D. He prefers to change ourselves first instead.

58. How many points of view(观点)are mentioned in the passage?

A. Three.

B. Four.

C. Five.

D. Six.

阅读短文,根据其内容回答问题。

Body and health Health watchers say that in many countries people will get taller. We will also get heavier. This is because we’re eating more junk food(垃圾食品)and exercising less. However, we may not have to diet(节食)in the future. Scientists are trying to find a new way to help us. Just wait!

Where to work In 20 to 30 years’ time, only 20% of people will work in an office, and more of us will work at home. But that doesn’t mean we’ll be able to watch TV all day. With videophones and webcams(网络摄像机), the manager will be able to keep in touch and see exactly what we’re doing. Uh-oh.

Online…all the time Before long, we’ll all be on the Internet—all the time. Everything will have inventions that connect us to the Internet. For example, with very small cameras in your sunglasses, you can take a picture and send it to a friend.

Modern homes By the 2030s most homes will be fully “modern”. The computer can help us do lots of things just when we make a phone call home. Scanners in your fridge will read the bar codes on food bags, and then tell you when the food goes bad. Even better, your fridge will go online to order food when it’s empty. No more shopping!

More brain(大脑)power?Scientists say they’ll be able to build a computer that is like a human brain by 2020. Robots with these man-made brains will do many jobs that humans do today. Road travel should become safer because cars will control(控制)themselves. So by the 2030s, there won’t be any more car accidents. We’ll be able to put computer chips(芯片)in the human brain to make us cleverer and increase our knowledge. But soon computers will become cleverer than people. Some scientists say that by 2050, computers may even take control of our lives. Terrible, huh?

11. Will people have to diet in the future?

____________________________________________________________________

12. Will most people work at home or in an office in 20 to 30 years’ time?

____________________________________________________________________

13. What can help you take and send a picture in the future?

14. Why is the future traffic safer?

____________________________________________________________________

15. What will life be like in the future?

2020初三英语阅读理解及答案

2020初三英语阅读理解及答案 下面有一篇文章,希望同学们用10分钟将此题做完,然后对照讲解找到准确的答案。 Passage 1 If you look at the sky one night and see something moving and shining that you have never seen before, it might be a comet (彗星). A comet sometimes looks like a star. Like a planet, a comet has no light of its own. It shines from the sunlight it reflects (反射). Like the earth, a comet goes round the sun, but on a much longer path (轨道) than the earth travels. If a comet isn’t a sta r, what is it then? Some scientists think that a large part of a comet is water frozen into pieces of ice and mixed with iron and rock dust and perhaps a few big pieces of rock. When sunshine melts (融化) the ice in the comet, great clouds of gas go trailing after it. These clouds, together with the dust, form a long tail. Many people perhaps have seen a comet. However no one knows how many comets there are. There may be millions of comets, but only a few come close enough for us to see. An Englishman named Edmund Halley, who lived from 1656 to 1742, found out a lot about the paths that comets take through the sky. Some comets move out of our sight and never come back. Others keep coming back at regular times. A big comet that keeps coming back was named after Halley because
