第一段图画描述段落按一般水平，写4句，约50个单词左右。
一般分为万能开头句+图画描述句+过渡句+中心思想句（主题句）。

首先，要不要写图画描述这一句取决于指令，2001年作文“爱心就是一盏灯”就没有让写。
如果指令要求要写，为什么要求你写呢？让你描写的最终目的，还是为了阐释寓意，所以描述本身不是目的，目的在于第二段，对其进行阐发。
所以，与寓意有关的要写，与寓意无关的不写。

再比如2002年美国女孩穿中国服装题，寓意是文化交流不是文化冲突，写出美国女孩，穿的是中国传统服装（traditional Chinese costumes），面带微笑就行了（smiling like an angel、wearing a sweet smile）。

图画作文总体上比图表作文的结构变化更多，更为灵活，因此难度也更大。
1.描述图画
图画作文对图画的描述应在第一段进行，且最好在首句即开始。
此类作文大部分是一幅图，也会有两幅图出现的情况。
如果出现两幅图，则很有可能是突显对比的情况。
图画上可能没有任何文字，也可能在上面出现了一句话，也可以单个人物说话或两个人物对话，也可能在图画外写了总结性的一句话。

对于这一提纲我们来做具体分析，其中第三点更要细致研究。
首先由图画引出一种社会现象或社会问题，可以是好的，也可以是不好的`。
在推导绘画者的意图时多是展开说此现象或问题的表现，以证明其引人注目。
还有一种可能性是说此现象或问题产生的原因，提纲可直接列出，或还用上述提纲。
这时可把简单意图推导直接放到第一段描述图画之后，而在第二段中说原因。

第一段，重点描述图画内容。
对图画内容的描述可以用图画中人物的对话。
简要描述即可，不用发散或挖掘。

通过以上步骤，我们可以得出结论：近年来，人们的食品结构发生了显著变化，这个变化就是我们要重点说明或阐释的事实和依据，它构成文章的第一段。
3．组织材料，构思每一段的主题句，注意文章各段落间的衔接和过渡。
第一段的主题句必须交代四个要素：表格研究的时间段（1986－1990年）、研究的对象（人们的饮食结构）、研究所采用的数据形式（百分比而非具体的数字）和研究的结论（存在巨大变化）。
第二段写“可能的理由（possible reasons）”。
由于主要变化是谷物消耗降低，牛奶、肉类消费与年上升。
而前者下降源于后者上升。
那么，作者要思考的问题就简化为：为什么牛奶和肉类的消费增加？作者可以根据自己的认识、体验来阐释，只要言之有理，思路清晰，即可得分。
第三段基于第二段的分析得出相应的结论。
根据上述构思，参考范文如下：Changes in People's DietAs can be seen from the table，great changes have taken place in people's diet over the period from 1986 to 1990.The consumption of grain, the main food of people is decreasing year by year，while that of some high-energy food, such as milk and meat, is increasing steadily.There are two main reasons for these changes in people's diet．First，with the economic development, common people earn more money, so they can afford milk and meat.
