After a nice long period of shopping,the staircases stopped suddenly.In front of us—a short flight of stairs.It?s fu nny how you don?t think much about staircases-seeing people going up and down in a constant stream—that is until you?re pushing a carriage with a fat boy in it and bags hanging from every handle.I had no choice but to push my son down those stairs as carefully as I could.As I started down,I was hoping someone would stop to help us.Then two young men coming up my way met my gaze and I was so sure they were going to help this crazy mother going down the steps with the fat baby in carnage.Before I could open my mouth,they looked at me and walked right past me!

The cost of raising a child has hit an all-time high, according to a new report,,piling pressure on families already dealing with cuts to child benefit.

Figures from insurer LV='s annual Cost of a Child Report show that the cost of bringing a child up to the age of 21 has reached £222,458-more than £4,000 higher than last year and up £82,000 on ten years ago.

The report will be a further blow for hard-working families as poor parents continue to struggle with rising household bills and wage freezes and cuts to child benefit.The right to receive the payments,worth £20.30 a week for the first child and £13.40 for further children,was removed earlier this month from households with one career on a salary of more than £60,000 and reduced for families where one member is paid more than £50,000.

As a result,more than three-quarters of parents have been forced to make cutbacks to make ends meet.According to LV=,more than four in ten are controlling spending on luxuries such as holidays,a third are also cutting back how much they spend on essentials such as food.

Imagine shopping for clothes online and being able to run your hand across the screen on your computer to feel the fabrics.That kind of technology could be available within tile next five years.

“We?re talking about reinventing the way computers operate and you interact with them as humans,”says IBM Vice President Bernie Meyerson.

Extending sense of touch is one of five innovations (创新) that IBM believes will change the world in the next five years,according to the company?s annual “Five in Five” list.

Smart machines will also soon be able to listen to the environment and highlight the sounds we care about most.For instance,an advanced speech recognition system will tell new parents why their baby is crying.

“From the sound tile baby is creatin g,that particular frequency in the voice of the child,you know the difference between a child for instance who is sick as opposed to a child who is just lonely.”

In the near future,personal computers will be able to do more than recognize

images and visual data.Their built-in cameras will be able to analyze features such as colors,and understand the meaning of visual media,such as knowing how to sort family photos.

Smart machines will also be able to smell.If you sneeze on your computer, tiny sensors built in the machine will be able to analyze thousands of molecules(分子)in your breath.Then it can tell you whether you need to see a doctor.

IBM scientists are also developing a system which can experience flavors to be used by chefs to create recipes.It breaks down ingredients to their molecular level and blends them to create the most popular flavors and smells.

One of the most impressive things about the IBM list,says Georgetown University computer science professor Mark Maloof, is how powerful these tiny, smart computers are becoming.Maloof hopes the advances will encourage more students to study science,technology, engineering and math,preparing them to play a role in future innovations.

[1]Would you eat a ready meal from tile fridge rather than cook by yo urself? Have you been doing Internet shopping rather than going to the stores? What can?t you be bothered to do? A study into how lazy British people are has found more than half of adults are so lazy they?d catch the lift rather than climb two flights of stairs.

[2] Just over 2,000 people were quizzed by independent researchers at Nuffield Health.Britain?s largest health organization.The results were astonishing.About one in six people surveyed said if their remote control was broken.They would continue watching the same channel rather than get up.More than one third of those questioned said they would not run to catch a bus.Worryingly, of the 654 interviewees with children,64%said they were often too tired to play with them.

[3] This led the report to conclude that it's no wonder that one in six children in the UK are classified as obese(肥胖)before they start school.Dr Sarah Dauncey, medical director of Nuffield Health,said:“People need to get fi tter, not just for their own sake,but for the sake of their families,friends and evidently their pets too.If we don't start to take control of this problem,a whole generation will become too unfit to perform even the most basic tasks.”

[4] And Scotland?s largest city, Glasgow, was shamed as the most inactive city in the UK, with 75%surveyed admitting they do not get enough exercise,followed closely by Birmingham and Southampton,both with 67%.

[5] The results cause serious challenges for the National Health Service,where obesity-related illnesses such as heart disease and cancer for the past 40 years and are costing billions of pounds every year.

IV. Summary Writing Secure payment without leaving a trace Computer scientist Andy Rupp, member of the “Signaling Code and Security” working group, is always surprised about lacking problem awareness: only few users are aware of the fact that by using payment systems they disclose in detail how and what they consume or which routes they have taken. To prevent control of the accounts by dishonest users, customer data and account balances of payment are usually carried out with the help of a central database. In every payment deal, the customer is identified and the details of her/his deal are transmitted to the central database. This repeated identification process produces a data trace that might be misused by the provider or third parties. The expert has now presented the basics of an “electronic purse” that works by unknown names, but prevents misuse at the same time. The “black-box addition plus” (BBA+) code system developed by them transfers all necessary account data to the card used or the smartphone and guarantees their secrets with the help of signaling code methods. At the same time, BBA+ offers security guarantees for the operator of the payment system: The code system guarantees a correct account balance and is mathematically constructed such that the identity of the user is disclosed as soon as the attempt is made to pay with a controlled account. “Our new code system guarantees privacy and security for customers during offline operation as well,” Andy Rupp says. “This is needed for ensuring the payment system’s suitability for daily use. Think of a subway doorway or a payment bridge. There you may have no internet connection at all or it is very slow.” Also its high efficiency makes the code system suited for everyday use: During first test runs, researchers completed payments within about one second. ①when customers use payment systems, most of them don’t realize the fact that by doing so, they risk( take the risk of ) losing privacy. ②Researchers have now developed a secure system called BBA+, which works anonymously and avoids misuses as well. ③moreover ( apart from / besides the security of privacy), it also proves to be efficient for daily use.(47 words) 【2018—崇明区一模】 IV. Mama says all the dust is due to the drought. The dirt sifts into everything. It covers our clothes. We have to wash the dishes before each meal. We rarely drive the truck because Papa fears the dust from the road will ruin the motor. When my sister, Faye, and I walk to school, we wear kerchiefs over our mouths so we don’t breathe in the dirt. On days when the air is so bad that they close the school, we stay home and help Mama put wet sheets over the windows. But the dirt always finds a way in. Last Sunday, there was no dirt in the air, only bright spring sunshine and a clear blue sky. After lunch, Papa headed out to the field to check on the cattle while I played with Faye in the yard. The temperature suddenly dropped. I looked to the west and saw a huge black cloud of dust. All the birds flew away. “I must warn Papa,” I thought to myself. To avoid her panicking, I gently told Faye to go back inside where she would be safe, and then headed off to the field.

故选A.

解答:A“若am2<bm2,则a<b”的逆命题是“若a<b,则am2<bm2”,m=0时不正确; B中“?x∈R,x2﹣x>0”为特称命题,否定时为全称命题,结论正确; C命题“p∨q”为真命题指命题“p”或命题“q”为真命题,只要有一个为真即可,错误; D应为必要不充分条件.
