Confidence is very important in daily life. It can help you to develop a healthy attitude. A study shows that the people who are more confident are much happier. They can have more chance to make themselves successful. But how to be more confident? Here are some suggestions:

Encourage yourself. Write down a list of things you did during the day to see how many things you have done well. Did you finish your homework?Did you tell a joke that made everybody laugh? Give yourself praise for the good things you’ve done.

Do you carry too much on the way to school or home? Don’t worry. Try e-readers and say goodbye to your heavy schoolbag.

An e-reader has the memory space to hold hundreds of books. So people want to throw away heavy schoolbags and read with small, light e-readers. For example, Cushing Academy, a high school in Massachusetts, USA, replaced most of the 20,000 books in its library last summer.

Teachers and students will use e-readers instead.

Most e-readers are thin and weigh less than 500g. They can download an e-book in 60 seconds. “It’s so easy. You can have a lot of books right at your fingers!” said Meghan Chensusky.

Chinese schoolchildren are also trying e-readers. At the Shanghai World Expo, an e-schoolbag is now on show. It is a special e-reader. Students can use it to download textbooks from the school servers(服务器)。It can also send and receive homework. Some schools in Beijing and Shanghai have tried this e-schoolbag for a few years. “It’s excellent. I don’t have to carry a heavy schoolbag any more,” said Xiao Qi, Beijing.

Do you have any special methods you use to do better on a test? How well you do is often a matter of how well prepared you are. Here are some ways to make sure you’re at your best on test days.

Go to bed early. The night before a test is not the time to stay up watching TV. You want to be rested and wide-awake for test day.

Have a good breakfast. Test day isn’t a morning for donuts(面包圈)。Nor is it a time to starve yourself. Eat plenty of low-sugar, high-energy food to keep your brain and body working their best.

Be prepared. Make sure you have two pencils and anything else you were asked to bring.

Watch the numbers. Make sure that the number of the items on your answer sheet matches the number of the question.

Look over all the answer choices. Don’t assume (假定)that choice A is correct until you’ve checked the others. You may find a better one. And it is wrong to eliminate any choice that you can see at once. You’ll have a better chance of finding the right answer.

Check the clock. Make sure you allow yourself enough time to answer every question and go back and check your answers. Don’t spend too much time on any difficult question. Skip it and come back to it later.

Keep up with your schoolwork all year long. That’s how you get the skills you need for taking tests.

Why do we need to throw less away? There are two reasons. One is that some resources(资源) are (1)nonrenewable. That means there is only a certain amount of that resource in the world. One example of this is oil. When we use up all the oil in the world, there will be no more.

There is another reason for throwing less away. All of our trash has to be put somewhere. Often, it is put into garbage dumps(垃圾场). Much of trash will be there for hundreds of years.

(2)The dumps will be filled up with all this trash.

There are three ways to cut down on trash.

One way is to recycle. When you recycle something, it means it is made into another shape and used again. Old newspaper may become paper bags. A glass jar can be melted( 熔化) and made into a bottle.

Another way to cut down on trash is to reuse things. You can wash and use again a bottle that can hold mustard(芥末酱) or something else.

It was not until in my late thirties that I made this important discovery: giving-away makes life so much more exciting. You need not worry if you lack money. This is how I experimented with giving-away. If an idea for improving the window display of a neighborhood store flashes to me, I step in and make the suggestion to the storekeeper. One discovery I made about giving-away is that it is almost impossible to give away anything in this world without getting something back, though the return often comes in an unexpected form. One Sunday morning the local post office delivered an important special delivery letter to my home, though it was addressed to me at my office. I wrote the postmaster a note of appreciation. More than a year later I needed a post-office box for a new business I was starting. I was told at the window that there were no boxes left, and that my name would have to go on a long waiting list. As I was about to leave, the postmaster appeared in the doorway. He had overheard our conversation. “Wasn’t it you that wrote us that letter a year ago about delivering a special delivery to your home?” I said yes. “Well, you certainly are going to have a box in this post office if we have to make one for you. You don’t know what a letter like that means to us. We usually get nothing but complaints.” 像绝大部分人,我长大看待生命是一个过程获得。直到我在30月底,我作出这个重要发现:给予,距离使我们的生活如此更令人兴奋的。您不必担心如果缺乏资金。这是我尝试让-消失。如果一个主意,
