英语四级考试是唯一一个付出与收获不成比例的考试，如果不知道评分的秘密，不知道判卷的潜规则，没有良好的备考策略，努力会付之东流，而且那么多的备考时光也将背负浪费时间的罪名，这是多么悲哀的无奈啊！
首先你得知道英语四级考试如何评分，英语四级考试的考试题型有限时作文（这道题是要收卷的）、快速限时阅读（也是要收卷的）、听力选择和听力填空（复合式听写）、大阅读、选词填空（15选10）、完型、翻译。它们占据的比例是固定的，按照百分制来算，作文占15分。快速阅读占10分（每小题1分），听力35分（其中，听力选择题每题1分，听力填空题单词填空每空0.5分，句子每空2分），大阅读20分（每题2分），选词填空即十五选十5分（每空0.5分），完型10分（每题0.5分）。
但是，英语四级考试可不是百分制的考试，不是你答了60分就通过的，有的人答了80分也没过，有的人答了45分却通过了，这是什么原因呢？原因就在于英语四六级考试实施7 10分制而不是百分制，过级分数线是426分即60%。（一般省份425分也算通过）。那么了解100分到710分两种分制直接如何换算才是你制胜的法宝。它们之间有一个复杂的计算公式，涉及很多函数还要考虑考生排名和正态分布。这个公式我们是很难弄懂的，但是英语四六级委员会的专家通过特殊的软件给出了一套估分公式，即标准分转化表，只要知道这个转化表，通过查表法即可算出自己的成绩，这个方法的估分误差不到百分制一。下面来看一下这个转化表。
首先，英语四级卷的这么多题型分成四个记分群，第一个记分群是听力。第二个记分群是所有阅读（大阅读、快速阅读、十五选十）。第三个记分群是综合测试（完形填空和翻译）。最后一个记分群是作文。也就是说，百分制到710分制的转换不是看你百分制得了多少分然后对照表格看看这个分数对应多少标准分，而是计算出每个记分群你得了多少分，然后分别对应查表得到这个记分群里你的分数对应的标准分，然后再加和。这也就是我刚才所说的百分制的成绩和最后的过级没有什么必然联系的原因。
这四个记分群中，听力群和阅读群都是35分，所以他们对应着共用的35分转化表。而综合测试记分群和作文记分群都是15分，他们对应着共用的15分转化表。所以，百分制到7 10分制的转化表只有两个，下面出示表格：

通过以上两个表格，看出三个问题，
第一个问题，全错也是得分的，比如15分表中0分对应了43.5分，哈哈！
第二个问题，有几个分数对应的标准分是一样的，比如35表中18分和19分对应的都是1 54分。我就说嘛，百分制的分数和最后的分数是没什么必然关系的！
第三个问题，你的分数越高，标准分增长越快，比如35分表中，从0分直到25分，每增加1分标准分增长了3.5分，而26分到32分，每增加1分标准分增长了7分，再往上则更多。这就很明显看出了标准分制度的目的是为了绝对突出优等生。当然，我们也看出一个问题，就是你每道题答的一般还不如有一个记分群答得超级好，而另一些答得差一点，因为每个记分群的满分对应了太多的标准分。弄个拿手题，答个满分！这是十分合算的。
所以，就引出了几个注意事项，
1. 在同等时间内的取舍问题。比如，距离考试结束还有1分钟，而依照你的能力，1分钟只能答对4个完型或者4个十五选十。怎么取舍？从百分制来看，4个完型和4个十五选十都是0.5*4=2分。但是呢，十五选十归属于阅读记分群，对应着35分转化表，在35分转化表中每多得1分，标准分增长更快，比如34分和满分在标准分中差了10.5分，而15分表中，14分和满分仅仅相差6分。所以还是把时间多多用于阅读记分群更加划算。当然，这又引出一个问题，如果你的阅读可能全错了，多答4个十五选十只是0分与2分的区别，而完型和翻译超级擅长，答不答这4个完型可能是13分和满分的区别，那么你就要选择答完型了，因为在15分转化表中，15分比13分多了12个标准分，而在35分转化表中，你得2分比0分仅仅多了4个标准分。12和4的差别多么巨大！！所以，有限时间内的取舍需要考虑转化表中的规律，还要考虑个人的能力及每道题本次考试的发挥水平，综合权衡起来是很困难的，这需要长期的模拟考试中积累经验，归纳属于自己的答题模式、答题顺序和应急预案，这也是我后面要告诉你们为什么要按照考试的时间和模式答模拟题而不是随意做题零散做题的原因。
2. 由刚才的论述大家也不难看出，十五选十是不可以瞎蒙的，这和你们的期末考试可不一样，期末考试时间紧张，十五选十每个题才0.5分，随意涂卡甚至全部放弃不涂了才丢了区区5分，但是在四六级考试中，十五选十用的是阅读记分群中的35分转化表，每一个0.5分比其他题目的0.5分具备更高的价值。而相比之下，完型中的0.5分就很不值钱，这也是很多四六级考试的老手在出现意外的情况下优先放弃完形填空的原因。完形填空瞎蒙大概能对6个（蒙B、C、D），而仔细做的话普通人也大概就能对10个甚至更少，高手也就14个或者15个，以平均10个来看，10个是5分，蒙对6个是3分，15分转化表中3分与5分对应的标准分仅仅相差6分，在710分中，6分是多么渺小的比例啊！然而为了这个6分，完形填空想认真答一遍怎么也得10分钟左右甚至更多，有人甚至答二十分钟，多不值得！
下面有还有一些小误区，需要嘱咐：
1. 英语四级考试作文没有草稿纸，不能打草稿，必须直接写，平常模拟的时候习惯打草稿的同学，请尽快改掉这个习惯。
2. 英语四级考试作文和快速阅读是限时的，先发作文答题纸（即答题卡一），作文限时是3 0分钟，这期间你是看不到其他题目的，所以作文写太快是没有用的，写完你也不能干别的！所以考试总时间125分钟有30分钟是作文，剩余时间就很少了，不容乐观。
3. 作文限时30分钟，但是25分钟的时候就发快速阅读的题了，只不过这个时候不允许翻看，作文限时结束后打铃或者老师口头宣布可以答快速阅读了，这个时候作文卡是不收回的，因为快速阅读的答案要涂在答题卡一上面，与作文共用答题卡，也就是说作文没有写完的你
可以继续写，但是快速阅读限时15分钟结束要立即收卷，那么长的阅读15分钟是很难答完的，所以建议绝对不要占用快速阅读的时间写作文，十分不值得！作文尽量在25分钟内写完。
4. 听力卷子与快速阅读在一起，播放听力之前有试音时间和发答题卡二的时间（听力答题卡与之前不是一张卡，之前的答题卡一已经收走了），所以你有足够的时间读题，和你们说这个是因为好多人答模拟题的时候都是利用录音中度direction的时间看题，考试的时候多了一些时间却不知道怎么利用了，这个时候要全力集中看题！都读一遍也是时间足够的，但是要全力集中！这是决定听力胜败的命脉时刻！！
研究过标准分转换表、知道了注意事项后，就可以踏踏实实的复习了，那么复习的程序呢？
第一，《背单词》（高考英语120分以上的可省略或者简化此步骤）准备一本四级单词手册。建议到书店购买新东方的四级大纲词汇乱序版。大概有30个单元的单词，每天背诵一个单元，仅仅会英译汉即可。如果四级考试目标是550分以上，则应当双向记忆。
第二，《模拟考试》。四级真题和四级模拟题。书店都有，建议买考拉牌子的，就是《题源四级》，如果没有卖的，可以考虑网购。如果实在没有，可以考虑华研外语版本的。当然，星火也不错，但是答案不详细，适合优等生。
四级题的做法是按照考场要求先答作文，限时30分钟，然后快速阅读，限时15分钟，然后答其他的，并控制总时间不超过2小时05分。绝对不可以中途发短信、看手机、上厕所、喝水、吃东西，不答作文和不计时答卷更是十分错误的做法，这也是这段文字我拟的标题是《模拟考试》而不是《做题》的原因。很多四六级考试失败的同学并不是没有努力备考，而是因为没有按照考试的时间和习惯进行模拟，导致考场上不习惯。人都有一个追求本能习惯的潜意识，就像熬夜学习的人不能起早、四点半吃晚饭的人七点吃饭会很饿一样，习惯发生变化就会导致不适应。你平常模拟题不写作文考场上让你写作文就会闹心，闹心就会影响成绩。而且通过平常的全真模拟，你会形成一套自己的答题模式，比如我在备考四级的时候发现125分钟的考试时间以我这么差的水平根本不能答完卷，但是如果舍弃一篇阅读就会导致不及格，而如果舍弃完形填空能够仍然保证过级，于是在考四级那天，又出现了时间不够用的情况，我舍弃了完形填空，发现成绩依然过线了。这也是让大家做完题要给自己批分的原因。要按照710分的模式批，百分制毫无意义。（建议详细研读刚才的标准分转化表部分）。
第三，词组
第四，准备一些作文万能句，背诵精美的描写语言和属于自己的特色开头结尾，作文在英语等级考试中的作用也是无可估量的。第五，做过的所有卷纸，都要用红笔详细的改好，我随便拿一张你做过的四六级卷纸问你一句话如果你不能给我翻译过来，那说明这套卷纸你改的不精。精改一套胜过略做十套，如果你改完的卷纸不是红笔满篇标记无数旁批若干的话，那说明你改的不细！这是十分致命的！
第六，假期时间除了卷纸上的听力练习外，额外再听一些VOA或者英语广播电台的收音，平常把mp3中装满听力材料，吃饭的时候都听听，很有作用。形成语感，形成语流，这是英语听力进步的重要因素。闲暇时看一部英文电影也不错。推荐英文版的《灵异第六感》和英文版的《杰克逊与闪电窃贼》，对听力很有帮助，非常地道的英文发音！
第七，考试的前一天晚上早点休息，考试那天经历充沛，信心十足。。
