Is there inside you? Very much , ever since you were brought into this world. when you couldn't open your mouth till the first two years on planet earth, inner voice is the one through which you interpreted and understood things.

go aganist what the inner voice say we get a guilty conscious and are bothered by it throughout our lives.

At times when we are feeling low or those unforgettable moments when we are let down, we seem to need some kind of emotional or mental support. We usually speak to our closest pal or our dearest family member during times of distress to ease the burden .At such times we get over the initial drizzle of emotional anxiety and mental restlessness,because of the pepping up by our empathic listener. we suddenly feel rejuvenated because our inner voice alerts us to get on with things and leave the things of past on the memory books of our brain.

The inner voice is always right most of the times because it knows us better than others and probably even ourselves. It is the dare devil child of the intuitions which we have been having since childhood. It's good to go by intuitions most of the tims because its the response provided due to the synchronism between our mental and physical being.

Whenever you are trying your first cigarette, or whenever you are asked to take sides in an argument, you are always in a sense of dilemma. During these times your inner voice automatically gives its verdict, which when over written, might leave us unhappy in the future. 如何练习听力?《听力方法》

凡练过英语听力的中国人,百分之百都感到英语听力困难,天天挂着耳机听一段英语也听

不懂,把音量开到震耳欲聋也还是听不明白,可拿出原文来一看却又十分简单,可看完了

原文后再去听还是听不懂,这到底是怎么回事呢?听我给你道破天机,可千万不可泄露呦!人走路时要用两条腿,左腿迈一步,右腿迈一步,十分轻松就可以往前走,没有任何人会

觉得走路费劲(除非是腿脚不好的人)。可如果你让人一条腿走路,另一条腿不动,那他走的那条腿就会十分费劲,只能一蹦一蹦地走,走得慢,还走不了多远。而如果你让他把不

动的那条腿彻底定死在地上,只让他另一条腿走路,那么只要定死的这条腿不动,另一条

腿就是累死也走不出半步,使得本来很简单的走路变得寸步难行。

英语听力难以提高,就是这个原因。

当你拼命练听力时,你只走了听力这一条腿,而另一条腿却固定在地上,因此你怎么练听

力也难以前进,一段英语往死里听上一百遍也还是听不懂,该模模糊糊的照样模模糊糊。

那么固定的那条腿是什么呢,就是发音。从来没听见你的嘴里发过英语音(或发准过英语音),就相当于你的发音的这条腿固定在地上,单剩下听力这条腿又怎么能前进呢?发音和听力,就像是人的两条腿,一起走本来很容易,可如果非让一条腿停住,只留另一条腿活动,则走半步也比登天还难。

为什么发音和听力是相辅相成的两条腿的关系呢?语言的声音不是简单的声音,不是鸟叫

或打雷那种简单的声音,而是从人的嘴里发出来的一种含有高等智慧的复杂的声音。要想

识别和理解这种声音,一方面要多听这种声音,使自己的耳朵习惯于这种声音,另一方面

就要通过自己的嘴亲自发出这种声音,亲自创造和体验这种声音的每一个细节,来练就对

这种声音的熟悉程度和熟悉能力,才能反过来学会识别这种声音。因此要想彻底听懂语言,非亲口能说出这种语言不可。就像会打篮球的人才能当篮球裁判员一样,篮球大家全都能看,全都能看懂输赢,但要想当个篮球裁判员,看到一般观众看不到的运动细节,就必须

亲自会打篮球才行。看篮球容易,看不懂细节还可以看个热闹,看不懂百分之百还可以看

个百分之七八十,但语言的听力可不是闹着玩的,一段英语里只要有几个地方没听懂,或

者有一个关键词没听懂,整段英语就全糊涂了,没法听个热闹。

因此要想提高听力,就不能丢下发音,要听力发音一起练,缺了谁另一个都难以前进。中

国人感到学英语很难,因此一般对英语有畏惧感,学英语时倾向于一个难关一个难关地攻克,生怕各种难关一起攻克负担过重。既然英语考试只考听力,就只练听力而不练发音,

生怕练习发音是耽误时间,其实这样做恰恰导致了听力的进步障碍,使听力的进步难度成

倍地加大。当你听一段英语实在听不懂时,就请你去练习这段英语的发音,练完了发音后

再去听,定会豁然开朗的感觉。听力和发音,两个能力分开学习时各自的难度是10,而两个混在一起学,交替地学,合起来的难度反而是2,甚至是0,没有难度。

当然,这里的发音练习指得是能发准英语音的练习,而不是胆大敢说,说出一堆胡音乱音

的发音,若说出来的英语声音严重发音不准,离标准声音相差悬殊,那这种发音真是在耽

误时间,除了练练胆以外不如不练。就好像一个人为了能当篮球裁判就自己练习打篮球,

凭着自己的感觉胡打乱打一气,最后还是看不懂正规的篮球比赛。

中国人在练习英语听力时,除了忽视听力外还有选择听力材料过难的毛病,不信你试试看,若有高级、中级、初级三种听力材料摆在中国大学生面前让其选则,一般人肯定是先选高

级的,他们错误地听到了一个叫做“强化”的概念,认为高级的听力肯定包含了初级的听力,高级的听力听懂了,初级的听力肯定也会过关。殊不知正是这种“强化”的概念害了中国人

学英语。练听力就像是上十个台阶,一个台阶一个台阶地上本来很简单,可若妄想一步迈

上第十个台阶,就是不迈脚下的台阶,则反而把极简单的问题复杂化了,导致一辈子也迈

不上第十个台阶,结果还冤枉地误认为英语听力难学。选好练习听力的材料很重要,千万

别选太难的材料,一定要选则你勉强可以张口说出来的材料来听,这样听几遍说几遍,听、说协同提高,很容易就取得双进步。

因此,当你再看见很多人天天挂着耳机一声不响地听英语时就请你走上前去告诉他:朋友,

你这么干是不行的,要想耳朵里的英语清清楚楚,你的嘴里就必须要出声,你嘴里的英语

发音是什么水平,你耳朵里的英语听力就是什么水平,听力和发音是两条连在一起的腿,

是必须共同前进和拉不开距离的。

用“精听”提高英语听力水平《听力方法》

各位都知道,英语阅读可以分为“精读”和“泛读”,同样,英语听力也可以分为“精听”

和“泛听”,我介绍的这种方法,就是通过“精听”,来提高英语听力水平,具体步骤是:中

国国际广播之声(CRI)或美国之音(VOA)或英国广播公司(BBC)每个小时开始的英语新闻,大约有20条,每条的时间不超过1分钟,词汇量不超过200个单词,您可以将某一天某

一小时的某一条新闻,用录音机复制下来,然后反反复复收听这条新闻,一遍不成听两遍,一天不成听两天,直到这条新闻中的每个单词(请注意是每个单词),都能准确听出来为止。

在进行这种“精听”训练时,您需要特别注意四点。

第一点是:某些英语单词的弱读。比如介词of,它的音标是[ov](o=hot中间的那个元音),但它通常被弱化成[ev](e=maker的第二个元音),有时甚至被弱化成[v]或[f],您

在“精听”一条新闻时,一定要把所有的弱读单词听出来。

第二点是:某些英语单词的连读。比如您在“精听”一条新闻时,听到一个生词,发音

好象是notatal,不像是外国的人名、地名,而且《英汉词典》中也查不到,这时,您就

应当想到,它很可能是两个(或两个以上)单词的连读,按照这个思路,您应当猜出它是

not at all。

第三点是:某些单音节的英语单词。多音节的单词,比如foreign、minister、immigration等,由于音节多,很容易听出来,比较麻烦的是那些单音节单词,比如did、was、him等,只有一个音节,发音时间短促,很容易被忽略,因此您在“精听”一条新闻时,一定要重点识别这些单音节单词。

第四点是:单词与头脑的同步。弱读、连读、单音节单词这三个问题解决之后,最后

的问题就是“单词与头脑的同步”,也就是您每听到一个单词,头脑中必须马上想到这个单词的中文意思,比如听到Russia,马上想到“俄国”,听到president,马上想到“总统”,听到visit,马上想到“访问”,等等。

一条新闻中的每个单词(请注意是每个单词),都能准确听出来之后,您就可以复制下一条新闻,继续进行“精听”训练了。当然,每个人的具体情况不同,第一条新闻,您全部听懂,可能需要三天,第二条新闻可能缩短到一天,第三条新闻可能缩短到半天。通过英语六级考试的朋友,采用这种方法,“精听”十条新闻之后,即可明显提高自己的英语听力水平。

He was in the first third gr ade class I taught at Saint Mary's School in Morris, Minn. All 34 of my students were dear to me, but Mark Eklund was one in a million. Very neat in appearance, he had that happy-to-be-alive attitude that made even his occasional mischievousness delightful.

One Friday, I asked the students to list the names of the other students in the room on two sheets of paper, leaving a space between each name. Then I told them to think of the nicest thing they could say about each of their classmates and write it down. It took the remainder of the class period to finish the assignment, and as the students left the room, each one handed me the paper.

I knew without looking that the pieces of paper were the ones on which I had listed all the good things that Mark's classmates had said about him. "Thank you so much for doing that." Mark's mother said. "As you can see, Mark behaved better and better at school. It's all because of you and your list."

Sometimes the smallest things could mean the most to others. The density of people in society is so thick that we forget life will end one day and we don't know when that one day will be. Compliment the people you love and care about, before it is too late.

the Pied Piper. With his bewitching pipe and enchanting music, he lured the rats away from the city and into a watery grave. This key moment in a familiar fairy tale carries many insights. It is, at once, a commentary on social values, a vivid example of family tragedy, and a bit of personal psychology. Folklore is compacted wisdom-literature that yields more information with each reading.

There is much we can learn by reflecting on the stories heard in childhood. Magical characters are likely to remain in the imagination for a lifetime. Fairytale is a sub-genre of folktale, something that is handed down from person to person for generations; one of the most important identifying features of a folktale is that it belongs to an entire culture, rather than to an individual. That is why folktales give us many insights into the cultures from which they spring.

My own first hearing of many of the old stories was in the places where they originated. Throughout my childhood our family would travel abroad for several months every few years. There were six children. My parents came up with an ingenious and life-changing idea: have us study the local tales. When we were in Denmark, we visited the home of Hans Christian Andersen, and discussed his stories, such as The Little Mermaid. In Germany, we went to the village of Hamelin, where the tale of the Pied Piper takes place. In Baghdad, it was Arabian Nights. In the temples of India and Japan, the tales of Asia came to life. Seeing how the adventures reflected their settings and how the stories are still alive in those places was a powerful experience.

Various people can imagine the tales quite differently. I had heard the stories before and had pictures in my mind about what the places looked like. When I saw, for example, the spot in Germany where the Pied Piper supposedly led the children away, it didn’t look exactly the same as I had imagined. In a way, noticing that difference made me aware of how our creativity works. It shaped my sense of the world.

Mythic stories make up a kind of collective dream that we all have together. If we want to understand our dreams, in many respects, we can look at these stories and study them. A talking animal in a story is often the voice of nature. Among other messages, we are being reminded that we are also animals. We are walking around in animal flesh. We sometimes forget this in our excessively mental, all too industrial culture. We are, first of all, animal creatures. We are not just visitors to nature, or merely caretakers of nature. We are nature. Guiding animals are crucial in mythic stories. Psychologically, this might well represent the wisdom of the body. Meanwhile, sinister or wicked characters may represent aspects of ourselves that have been neglected or rejected.

Friends or 'Enemies?' When I was younger, my Dad used to tell me: "Boys don't want to be your friend." He then left the rest to my imagination. At the time, I didn't agree. I thought: I can crack a good joke, I know how to shoot a hoop, and I'm a cheerful person (but not in an annoying way). What kind of boy wouldn't want to be around that kind of girl? Turns out, my Dad was right. Not to be all "Samantha Brick" about it, but in my experience, single, heterosexual men aren't actively looking for an exclusively platonic relationship with a woman they find sexually attractive. This of course is not a revolutionary concept. In fact, it seems pretty natural to me. Now, I will be the first to say that it is really and truly the most wonderful thing in the world if the attraction is mutual. But the Powers That Be seem to like to play these complicated little mating games with humans where the guy we want to re-enact scenes from 9? Weeks with sees our attractiveness level as akin to that of a discarded dishcloth, and the most physical we could see ourselves being with the guy who actually likes us is a game of ping pong over an especially long table. All of which means that someone usually ends up getting rejected. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I have struggled with the scenario where I am not interested in a man romantically, but I want to keep him as a friend because he is funny and I enjoy his company, or he has shown himself to be that rare specimen known as "a nice, genuine person, " or he simply doesn't mention his therapist in every other sentence. Rather than string him along and give him hope, I feel compelled to somehow communicate to him sooner rather than later that we'll just be staying friends, nothing more. Otherwise, I think I am being unfair to him. Why should he waste his romantic stamina on me when there are loads of other single women out there who might fall instantly in love with him? The thing is, it can sometimes be tricky to reject a man and keep him as a friend. If the operation is not executed carefully, you may end up creating a "menemy." It requires a certain amount of skill to be able to turn down a man's sexual advances or romantic gestures and then get him to agree to meet you for blueberry pancakes the following weekend and chat about the latest Woody Allen film. Some men aren't satisfied with just that. I'm not clear why. What's so bad about friendship? Everyone needs buddies. But I've seen men react poorly or simply fall off the face of the earth. I get it -- their feelings are hurt. None of us likes getting rejected. But in my experience, some men find it especially soul-crushing. I am only bringing all of this up because I recently had to go through this scenario again. I had spent some time cultivating a friendship with a man who, in my defense, I thought was gay. So I didn't see the harm in him buying me the occasional falafel, or accepting an invitation to see a film with him. Isn't that what friends are for? But a mutual friend shed light on his sexual orientation (straight) and suggested that his intentions -- and attentions -- weren't platonic. He had never "made the moves" but now it was all crystal clear -- that explains the way he had looked at me that time the tahini sauce dribbled down my chin! Since he had clearly been too timid to express his feelings, I thought I would be clever this time and subtly mention the dates I had been going on, focusing on the one guy I was kind of keen on, so that he would know that I was "unavailable" for heavy petting and those sorts of activities, but that I was available for things like roller skating, falafel-eating and shooting the breeze. Doesn't that sound nice? That way, he would known not to try to lean in for a kiss, and I wouldn't have to pull the Stevie Wonder dance and dodge him went he went for it. It was like pre-rejection, yet I was sparing his feelings because he didn't even have to put himself out there! I really thought I was being brilliant. It backfired, of course. Said man ended up sending me an email rant accusing me of being insensitive by talking about other men when he had "feelings for me." As if I am psychic, by the way, just because I am a woman! How was I supposed to know that? I think in his mind we were dating. In my mind, he was my new gay BFF. In the end, I got mad at him for getting mad at me, and now the friendship has ended. And I have created yet another "menemy." Look, I have also tried the direct thing: "I really like you, but only as a friend, " but you can only do that when the guy has made his intentions clear, and in my experience, they either cope okay (though rarely do I feel much enthusiasm for friendship after that), or they really don't cope well. I also tried the thing where you make them think they are rejecting you, but it gets quite confusing and only works if the guy isn't very sharp, and why would I -- or you -- be hanging out with someone not that sharp in the first place? As we all remember, Billy Crystal's character says men and women can't be friends in When Harry Met Sally because the sex stuff gets in the way. I do have single, male, heterosexual friends with whom I have an easy, non-romantic rapport, but I honestly don't know if they would walk away if I was sprawled naked on a bed calling out to them. I may not be everybody's cup of tea, but sometimes, I wonder if they wonder. And they may wonder if I wonder. If so, I hope they'll keep it to
