Chapter 1
Scene 1 The Mirror On The Wall
Narrator(解说员): This is a story about love and how love and beauty are more powerful than wickedness(邪恶) and jealousy (嫉妒). Many years ago there was a tiny beautiful kingdom(王国) in a faraway place. Now this kingdom was ruled by a kind and good king who had a lovely and gentle wife as his Queen. The tiny kingdom glowed(闪烁) with the magic of their love and they had a daughter who was the most beautiful child the world had ever seen and they called her Snow White. Sadly, shortly after Snow White was born, her mother, the good and noble(高贵的) Queen, died of a mysterious(神秘的) illness. And the king soon remarried(再婚).
This new Queen was truly beautiful but her beauty went no deeper than her skin.She was a wicked and cruel woman who was only happy when she was looking into one of her many mirrors. And when the good king perished(死亡) while fighting a war in a faraway land, the new Queen did not shed(流<泪>) a single tear. For now she could tax(征税) the people heavily and use the money to buy all sorts of lotions(护肤液) and potions(药剂) that would maintain her great beauty. The people of the kingdom became sad and frightened. The Queen had many many mirrors, but by far her favorite was a magic mirror which always spoke the total and absolute（绝对的) truth. For many years several times each day, the vain(爱虚荣的) Queen would look into her magic mirror and ask the same question.
Queen: Magic mirror tell me do, tell your mistress(女主人) tell her true, answer me obey(服从) my call, who's the loveliest of all?
Narrator: At each time the magic mirror would answer exactly the same way. Mirror: The answer, Queen, is crystal clear(显而易见的), you are the most lovely far and near.
Narrator: And then one fateful(不幸的) day the Queen received an answer of a different sort. Yes, a very different sort indeed.
Mirror: Her skin is pure as a brand new snow, her eyes set people's hearts a glow, lips red as blood, hair black as night, the loveliest is there, Snow White Queen: What? How can this be? I am the most beautiful woman in the land. I always have been and I always shall be. Treacherous(背叛的) mirror, how dare you say Snow White is lovelier than I!
Mirror :Your loveliness is great 'tis true, but there is one more fair(美丽的) than you. For Snow White's beauty does begin where yours does stop, 'tis from within.
Queen: Send me my Royal(王室的) Huntsman immediately!
(The Royal Huntsman arrives
Queen:So you understand what it is I want you to do, my loyal(忠诚的) Huntsman.
Huntsman: But Your Highness(皇后陛下)
Queen: I ask you a simple question. Do you understand?
Huntsman: Yes, Your Highness, I understand.
Queen: Good, because if for some reason you should fail, then tonight I shall be dining upon head of huntsman. Do I make myself clear?
Huntsman: Yes, Your Highness
Queen: Then we understand one another. Now go!
Scene 2 The Ruthful(充满同情的) Huntsman
(By the riverside, Snow White is plucking(摘) wild flowers. Huntsman comes near her:)
Snow White: (To a little animal.) Don't worry. I won't take away your little hiding place What a beautiful glorious(令人愉快的) day! Have you ever seen such a lovely sunshiny day, Huntsman?
Huntsman: Even the sunniest of days may have its dark clouds (天有不测风云）,Princess.
Snow White: Oh, Huntsman，don't be so glum(忧郁的,闷闷不乐的). You are beginning to sound just like my stepmother(继母). Oh,I wish there were a way I could make her happy
Huntsman: You would not be so anxious to make the Queen happy if you knew why she sent us here.
Snow White(laughing): I know, let's pick some wild berries(野草莓) for my stepmother. Perhaps that would please(使高兴) her.
(Huntsman raises his sword<剑>.)
Snow White: Huntsman, what are you doing?
Huntsman: I, I cannot do it!
Snow White: Huntsman, what is it?
Huntsman: Run! Princess, run for your life!
Snow White: My life? What are you talking about?
Huntsman: The queen, she is jealous of your beauty. She has ordered me to slay(杀死) you.
Snow White: Slay me?
Huntsman: Your stepmother will do anything to see you dead.
Snow White: She wishes me dead? I cannot believe this, surely you were mistaken?
Huntsman: There is no mistake! You must flee(逃走)! Run far as you can,go! Snow White:But what about you, if you disobey(不服从) the Queen...
Huntsman: Run, I say!
Snow White:I shall never forget you, Huntsman!
Huntsman: Not I you, Princess. Now quickly you must go and never return. (Snow White hears Huntsman's words and runs into the forest. suddenly she runs into(撞到) a man. He was the Prince of a nearby kingdom.)
Prince: Whoa there, wait a minute, miss. You are the most lovely creature this forest has ever seen.
Snow White: Please, let me go.
Prince：Who are you? What are you afraid of? Let me help you please. (Snow White runs away.) After her! I must know who she is! Never have these eyes gazed upon(看到、注视) such beauty. Never have I felt like this. Truly I think this must be love.
Servant 1: Sire(陛下) ,she has disappeared from sight.
Servant 2: It's true, Sire, perhaps she was a witch（女巫) or a gnome(地神). Prince: No, my friends, no one with a face like hers could be a witch or a gnome.
I swear(发誓) by all that I hold scared(害怕的) I shall find that girl no matter how long it takes. If I am lucky enough she will become my princess.
Chapter 2
Scene 1 The Little Cottage(小屋)
(Snow White runs and runs. And she stops before a house.)
Narrator: Snow White had never seen a place like this but somehow she knew it was a safe place.
Snow White: Hello? Is there anyone at home?Can anyone hear me?
(Snow White pushes the door open and walks in.)
Snow White:I said, is there anybody here?
(She sees seven small beds, and a small table with seven bowls full of food on it.)
Snow White:Oh,my!(哦,天啊！)What sweet(可爱的) little chairs, What a cute(小巧的) little table!Oh,what delicious looking food!This must be a house for children. There must be one two, three.... seven of them!Surely they won't mind if I take a little something. I'm so hungry from my journey.Oh,what nice little children must live here, I must try to stay awake long enough to thank them for the kindness to me.
(Snow White is so tired that she falls asleep soon.)
Narrotor: Now what Snow White could not possibly know was that this house did not belong to children at all but to dwarfs,seven of them identical(相同的) and all brothers.
Sunbeam:Hey,somebody’s been sitting in my chair!
Toadstool:And using my spoon.
Fun:And eating my soup.
Hedgehog:And my bread.
Robin:And drinking from my cup.
Cricket:And nibbling(咬) at my fruit.
Tadpole:And sleeping in my bed.
All:Who is she?How’d she get here?
Sunbeam:Isn't she beautiful?
Toadstools:Yes,but what’s she doing here??
Fun: It's just a girl.
Hedgehog:Shh…you’ll wake her.
Tadpole:But she's sleeping in my bed (Snow White wakes up.)
Snow White:Didn't anyone ever tell you that it is rude to wake someone up by yelling(大叫)?
All: No.Nope(没有).No way!
Tadpole: But you're still in my bed
All:Yeah,yes,you know. Who are you anyway?
Snow White:Oh,that's right,we haven't been properly introduced; only improperly awakened. I'm Snow White.
Hedgehog: Uh true, you are a bit pale there deary. But what's your name? Snow White: Snow White is my name
Cricket: Snow White? Kind of(有点) an unusual name, isn't it?
Snow White: 0h, I don't know. I never really thought about it before. May I inquire(询问) as to your names?
Sunbeam: I’m Sunbeam.
Toadstool: Toadstool here!!
Fun:Fun is my name!
Hedgehog:You can call me Hedgehog!
Robin:Robin
Cricket:Cricket.
Tadpole: My name is Tadpole and you are still sitting on my bed!
Snow White:0h,I am sorry. I am pleased to meet all of you.
Dwarfs: Nice to meet you too, yeah, yes.
Sunbeam :Well, little miss rainy day,have you ever heard of a thing called trespassing(擅自进入)?
Snow White:It's Snow White and yes I have. Oh, I'm so sorry, but I knocked and knocked and nobody answered and the door was open so l came inside and I guess I just fell asleep.
Tadpole: On my bed
Snow White:I said I was sorry but I was so tired from running (she begins to

Fun:l heard that she has her Royal Gardeners clip（剪掉）the heads off the Royal rosebush es(玫瑰丛) in case the flowers are more lovely than she is.
Snow White: That is true
Tadpole:And I heard that on beautiful days, she orders all the palace curtain s to be drawn so that no one can say that the day is more lovely than she is. Snow White: She told me it was because the flowers wouldn't bloom. Why it's true,everything you say is true.
Hedgehog: Then I say, good riddance(可喜的摆脱) to her.
Dwarfs: Yeah, let's go, I never liked her anyway. Yeah
Snow White: All of you against the queen and her armed guards(武装警卫) ? Dwarfs:You got a point(有道理) there...
Sunbeam: You can stay with us
Snow White: Here? Really?
Sunbeam:As long as you like. We'll protect you from that...that a... Tadpole: Shh... After all, it is her mother.
Dwarfs: Stepmother!
Tadpole:A stepmother's love can be as deep and pure as any mother's. It is
jealousy that has made her wicked(邪恶的).
Hedgehog: StiII, I don't know, brothers.We don't really have much extra(额外的) room around here.
Snow White: Oh,Please. I would love to stay here with you; I won't take up much room and in return(作为回报) I can cook for you and clean the house and mend(修补) your clothes and...

Snow White: Doesn't everybody?
Dwarfs: No!
Fun: Boys, this girl is too good to be true.
Tadpole: O.K. you can stay,but you're going to have to find someplace else to sleep.
(Snow White bends over(弯腰) and kisses Tadpole, Tadpole blush es<脸红>.)
Scene 2 The Seven Dwarfs
(Next morning the dwarfs are going out to work. Snow White is giving them their lunches.)
Snow White: There you are, Sunbeam.
Fun:I'm Fun,
Snow White: Oh, sorry and here's your lunch, Cricket.
Hedgehog: Hedgehog!
Snow White: Hedgehog, right. Robin?
Cricket: Nice try, but I'm Cricket.
Snow White: Oh,rats(糟糕、胡说).Don't worry,I’ll get it(了解,懂).
(The dwarfs are outside their house.)
Tadpole: It's time to break out the jersey s(运动衫) with our names on the back.
Fun: Give her a chance, Robin. I'm your brother and sometimes I'm not even sure who you are.
Tadpole: I'm Tadpole!
Fun:See?
(Snow White sees Sunbeam out of the door)
Sunbeam:Listen,Snow White,if your stepmother hates you as much as you say she does, she'll stop at nothing(不惜一切) to see you dead.Be very careful today; don't let anyone you don’t know near the house.
Snow White:Don't worry, I won't. Thank you again for all your kindness. Sunbeam?
Sunbeam: Right
(Snow White waves goodbye to Sunbeam)
Scene 3 The First Adventure
(Back to the queen's palace.)
Queen:So the pretty little girl still lives.Curse(诅咒) that miserable(讨厌的、悲惨的) huntsman! Very well, I’ll simply have to take care of this little matter myself. It shouldn't be too difficult, she is such a guileless(诚实的)innocent child and once I have disposed of(解决、除掉)her no one in the entire kingdom will be more beautiful than I, no one.
Narrator: And so Snow White had found a place to hide from her wicked stepmother.She was happy to help the dwarfs who had given her a safe place to stay,at least she thought it was a safe place.
(The queen disguise s(假扮) herself as an old woman and comes to the place where Snow White lives.)

Snow White:No,of course.I'm not, but I am afraid I have no money to buy your lovely laces.
Queen: Oh, well, perhaps we can work something out my dear.Here, let me show you how beautiful they will look on your dress.

(The Queen float s away in smoke.The seven dwarfs are surprised to see Snow White lying on the grass after work.)
Dwarfs: Snow White! Is she? Is she?
(0ne of the dwarfs takes the lace belt from Snow White's neck.Snow White comes to<苏醒>.)
Dwarfs: Snow White,what happened here todayl
Snow White: I-I am not certain.
Sunbeam: Did you see anyone today?
Snow White: Only an old woman selling wears.
Dwarfs: The Queen!
Sunbeam: Snow White, didn't I warn you to be ware of(留神) strangers? Snow White:0h,but she was just a sweet harmless(无恶意的) old woman. Fun: Harmless? Do you call this harmless? (He throws the belt to the tree. The lace belt turns into two snakes.)
Snow White: Are you saying that it was my stepmother?
Hedgehog:Only someone with mighty(强大的) and terrible powers like the queen could manage something like this.
Snow White: I'm so ashamed that I fell for her nasty trick(卑鄙的诡计). Sunbeam:Don't be hard on(对…苛刻) yourself,the Queen is a very powerful sorceress(巫婆).well,anyway you're safe now.Just be more careful in the future.Don't let anyone near the house and especially don't let anyone near you. Snow White: No,no I won't,I'll remember I promise.Thank you all for saving my life.
Scene 4 The second Adventure 第二次遇险
(In the palace,the Queen is asking the magic mirror.)
Queen: Magic mirror tell me do,tell your mistress(女主人) tell her true,answer me obey my call,who's the loveliest of all?
Mirror: She does enchant each one she meets,her heart was still but now it beats and though you are a beauteous(美丽的) sight you don't compare with fair(美丽的) Snow White.
Queen: Ah! She lives,how can this be?Will I never be rid of this horrible child?Calm yourself,calm,calm. Anger causes wrinkle s(皱纹).Very well,if the laces fail to choke(使窒息) the life out of her,we'll simply have to find something that will succeed.My will be done!
(In a cave the dwarfs are singing while working.)
Dwarfs:(Singing) Hip!Hip!Hooray another working day!Hip!Hip!Hooray singing all the way!Each day we arrive on time,we work hard but we don't mind.Summer winter spring or fall hapy workers one and all(全部).Hip!hip!Hooray another working day!Always busy as the bees on the job we aim to please.Although we're small we're very quick and no one ever calls in sick(请病假). Hip!Hip!Hooray another working day!Hip!hip!Hooray singing all the way!We're seven brothers who look the same,but each one has a different name.We help each other when we can there's always someone to lend a hand(帮忙).Hip!Hip!Hooray another working day! Hip!Hip!Hooray another working day!Hip!hip!Hooray singing all the way!Time flies by the job gets done,we work hard and still have fun.When evening comes it’s time to go we pack it up(停止)

Fun:I'm telling you,Radpole!One of us should have stayed at home to protect her.
Tadpole:Her?Who her?
Fun:Oh,her,you know!
Tadpole:Me know,no!
Fun:Not you,her.
Tadpole: Who her?
Fun:Snow White.That's who her.
Tadpole:Well why didn't yo say so?

Tadpole:Did not.
Fun:Did too.
Sunbeam:Hey,hey,knock it off(别吵了),guys.Seriously(说真的),we can't guard her every minute of the day.She must learn to take care of herself. Fun:But she's merely (只是)a child.

Tadpole:The Queen will most likely not return.Remember,she believes that Snow White is dead.
Cricket:But the Queen has ways of knowing things.
Fun:That's right,but what if she tries to kill Snow White again?
Hedgehog:Well,all I can say is,the Queen had better not dare to try anything again.If she does I will...
(He is over concentrated(全神贯注的) and does not notice a fire burns his hat.) Sunbeam:Why wasn't I just a twin?
(Outside the small house,Snow White is cleaning.)
Narrator:Snow White had learned her lesson.Although she was trusting soul,she promised herself she would not be fooled again.It was a promise she should have kept.
(There is a slight smoke,an old man appears.)
Queen:Excellent,no one could see through this disguise.But I must be careful not to frighten her.
Snow White:Are you all right,sir?
Queen:Please miss,could an old man trouble you for a drink of water?
Snow White:Oh,of course.
(Snow Whites goes into the house to get him a glass of water)
Queen:I thank you mightily(非常) young miss.This wretched（可怜的）old throat gets so parched(饥渴的) on the long journey I must make from the village.
Snow White:You are welcome then,Rumble sir.I would invite you to rest a while,but I am forbidden to do so.
Qween:Nonsense.That is a good advice.One should always be careful of strangers,even old ones such as myself.
Snow White:Still,how much harm could an old man like you do?

Queen:Nonsense,an act of kindness deserves a reward.Here,take this comb for hair.It is the most beautiful of my stock(存货),only your lovely black hair could make it seem more beautiful.
Snow White:Are you certain you want to give me the best one you have? Queen:Quite certain I am,quite certain.Here,here,let me show you how it works.(When he puts the comb onto Snow White's hair,Snow White falls onto the ground instantly.The Queen takes off her disguise.)
Queen:Oh,well,now the poinson that I placed on the teeth seem to be working quite well enough indeed,goodbye,Snow White!Goodbye and good riddance.
Scene 5:The Prince
(Back in the palace.There is a visitor,the prince.)
Queen:It is so seldom that I have visitors from other kingdoms,much less(更不用说) Royal visitors.I am honored(我很荣幸).
Prince:Your Highness.
Queen:You are far from your own kingdom,Your Highness.To what do I owe such a visit?
Prince:Oh,most noble and powerful...
Queen:And beautiful.
Prince:And beautiful Queen,I am on a quest(寻找、追求)…
Queen:A quest you say?
Prince:Yes,a quest for true love.
Queen:There is no better quest one could have.
Prince:I have no choice in the matter,I have come here seeking the love of my life.
Queen:I am flattered(我真是受宠若惊啊),dear Prince,of course however, although you could not possibly tell to look at me,I am old enough to be your mother...slightly older sister.

Prince:I have heard tales of a beautiful Princess who lives in this kingdom and I thought perhaps...
Queen:Well,you thought wrong!
Prince:But?
Queen:And I assure(保证) you the reports of her beauty are greatly exaggerated(夸大).Her beauty is no match for(比不上)my own or so I've been told.
Prince:I'm certain that must be true,Your Highness.
Queen:Trust me,it is.
Prince:Be that as it may highness perhaps if I could meet her.
Queen:Alas,she is no longer with us.My foolish huntsman took her to the forest not long ago and lost her.She has disappeared completely.Several hundreds of my best men were unable to find her.she must have perish ed(死),eaten by some beast or perhaps even poisoned.
Prince:That is terrible to lose a child,you must be heartbroken.
Queen:I am inconsolable(极度伤心的).
Prince:I know how you feel for I too have lost the one person in my life I truely love.
Queen:How tragic for both of us.
Prince:My heart aches for your loss,but I fear I cannot stay.For as long as the possibility remains that my true love exists,I must search for her.I shall search for the rest of my life if need be,until I find her.
Queen:Ah,she is fortunate to have one so devoted to her.What shall you do if you fail to find her or if when you do she is,oh,I don't know how shall I put this delicately(巧妙地) dead.
Prince:Then I shall die as well.
Queen:Surely you cannot be serious?
Prince:I have never been more serious,either I shall find my love or I shall die trying.I thank you for your time your highness and I wish you a speedy healing(复原) from your grief(悲痛).
Queen:Yes,thank you.Good luck on your quest.
Prince:Thank you,Your Highness.I know I shall not fail.
(The Prince leaves.The furious(暴怒的) Queen looks at the mirror again.) Queen:Don't look at me like that!Most of what I told him was the truth.After all
she is dead.
(In the forest the dwarfs are returning home from work.They see Snow White on grass again.)
Sunbeam:Quickly,loosen(解开) her laces.
Tadpole:She hasn't any laces.
Sunbeam:Well then let's find some...
Tadpole:What's this?(He takes away the comb.) What have we here? (Snow White wakes up.)
Dwarfs:Hey,all right.
Snow White:What,what happened?
Sunbeam:That's what we were wondering.
Snow White:I don't know.I gave an old man a drink of water and he gave me a comb in gratitude(作为感谢).That's al I remember.
Sunbeam:Snow White,that was no old man,that was the evil Queen!
Snow White:But he seemed so kind and so old.It couldn't have been. Hedgehog:No,take a look at this.
(He throws the comb to the grass,the comb turns into a poisonous spider<毒蜘蛛>.)
Sunbeam:Remember what I told you Snow White,the Queen wil stop at nothing to see you dead.Her magical powers are mighty and she can disguise herself as anything,anything at all.You must remember or else the kindness in your heart will be the death of you.
Snow White:Yes,I will remember,I promise,I will rememer.
Sunbeam:Perhaps one of us should stay home with you tomorrow.
Snow White:No,no,I will remember,I swear I will.Please,I don't want to be any more trouble to you.
Sunbeam:Trouble?Snow White,we love you!You're no trouble to us at all.
Chapter 3
Scene 1 The Sad Department
(In the palace,the Queen walks around the hall.She stands before the mirror again.)
Queen:Magic mirror tell me do,tell your mistress tell her true,answer me obey my call ,who's the loveliest of all ?
Mirror:Despite(尽管) your efforts noble Queen,Snow White's the fairest to be seen,even your jaded(疲倦的) eye must see,that she is fairer far than thee. Queen:What?Again those wretched(可怜/卑鄙的) dwarfs,they have foiled(挫败、阻挠) me for the last time.I will devise(想出) a plan so cunning(奸诈的),so ruthless(残忍的) that nothing will be able to save her this time.No one can be more beautiful than I am,especially that pitiful little school girl.This time Snow
White shall die and she shall stay dead forever!
(Morning,Snow White is cleaning the house.A girl comes near selling apples.) Queen:Care to buy some apples,miss?
Snow White:No,thank you,I don't want to seem rude,but you must go away from here quickly.
Queen:But,but they're fresh.I just picked them for my father's orchard(果园) this morning.If I can sell them to you,I won't have to walk all the way to the village.
Snow White:I'm sorry I don't want any apples.
Queen:Oh,but,miss,look,look how ripe(成熟的) and juicy(多汁的) they are. Snow White:It does look good.
(Sunbeam's words echo in her ear.)
Sunbeam:Remember what I told you,Snow White.
Snow White:But no,thank you.
(Snow White turns to go into the house.The girl blows up a gust of wind(一阵狂风) that shuts the door.)
Queen:There,you see miss,even the wind wants you to stay ourside long enouth to try one of my apples.

Prince:please,I beg of you.I will take her back to my palace and pay any price to the one who can revive(救活) her.I know it can be done,it must be done!If her life is over,then so is mine.I shall find a way to reverse(反转) this cursed(可恶的) spell(咒语)for I'm certain she merely sleeps.
Sunbeam:I fear you are wrong,brave Prince.But since it is clear that you love her as much as we do,maybe you can find a way to bring her back.It's worth a try.Take her then.
Prince:I thank you,kind dwarfs and I swear to you that when I do find a way to revive her,and you will be the first to know of the miracle.Men,take care with her.She is the love of my life and you must treat her gently.
(The servants pick up Snow White's body from the coffin.Snow White spits(吐痰) and wakes.)

英语电影字幕翻译策略研究 【摘要】影视翻译者们几乎把“整个世界”搬到中国观众眼前，将世界范围内的优秀影片引进中国。中国广大的电影观众对新鲜事物有着饱满的热情，与此同时，培养一种健康向上的审美心态、获取一种愉悦的审美感受是十分重要的。随着电影业的繁荣发展，电影字幕翻译也被提升到一个较高的位置。 【关键词】英语电影字幕翻译策略 一、前言 我国着名学者钱绍昌曾明确地指出：“译制片受众（观众）的数量远远超过翻译文学作品受众的数量，但与之相反，翻译界对影视翻译的重视却远不如文学翻译”。总的来说，我国的影视翻译研究起步较晚，还没有形成相应的理论体系。 二、“信、达、雅”翻译标准新用 严复在《天演论》卷首的《译例言》中首次提出对中国乃至世界翻译产生重大贡献的“信、达、雅”翻译标准。很多人认为严复所提出的“雅”破坏了“信”和“达”，从字面上来看，的确如此，因为仅仅为追求译文本身的古雅而脱离原文，这样的做法本身极具挑战和危险性，但是从积极乐观的一面来讲，严复的翻译标准极其重视润饰，这是值得我们肯定和关注的，这为后来的翻译美学研究奠定了理论
基础，启发大家在越来越重视美感的时代用一种行之有效的方式追求译文美感。严复的“信、达、雅”翻译标准之所以多年来没有被翻译界抛弃，是因为这简明扼要的三个字把翻译的精髓总结得淋漓尽致，尽管时代赋予了翻译新的意义，但是对严复翻译标准的运用仍然是必不可少的。尤其是在电影字幕翻译中的运用，由于受到电影故事背景、情节、文化内涵以及观影环境等因素的影响，翻译标准必须被赋予全新的内容和要求。 三、“意境说”在字幕翻译中的运用 翻译在中国有着悠久的历史，着名的翻译大家严复、鲁迅、瞿秋白等前辈将翻译提升到了文学艺术的高度。而中国文学艺术着意追求超越客观形象的神韵意味，将自然形象当做表现内在神情气韵的媒介，因而形象刻画并不是中国文学艺术所追求的终极目标（第29页，《中西比较诗学》）。在这样的背景下，“意境说”在英语电影字幕翻译中就会有很大的运用空间，就可以从形式文采美的角度对字幕译文进行深度润饰，使观众通过颇具美感的字幕译文领略电影本身的魅力，进入精彩纷呈的电影世界。 1.偏重于主观的主客观统一。任何文学艺术都是主观与客观的统一，而我们所谓意境，就是意与境浑，主观与客观的统一，（第31页，《中西比较诗学》）而非仅仅局限于主观论断。在英语电影字幕翻译中，要注意主观的意

浅谈英语电影字幕翻译 一、引言 近年来随着对外文化交流的发展与深入，一大批优秀的外国影片被引进到中国，受到人们的喜爱。大量国外影片的引进，带动了英语字幕翻译需求的增长，然而，关于英语电影字幕翻译的标准始终未有一个统一的标准，但由于影视作品是剧作者根据自身生活的经历或经验创造而成，反映了一定的社会文化背景，其语言对白具有不同于其他文体的显著特点。因此，在对英语电影翻译时，应把握住其特点进行翻译。 二、英语电影字幕的语言特点 1.口语性 以剧情为主的影视作品一般主要是靠角色之间的互动来展开情节，这种互动一般以对话来呈现。既然是对话，就是生活中浅显易懂的日常口语，即简短、直接、生动，并且含有较多的非正式语及俗语等。 2.文化性 著名翻译家Nida 指出：语言是文化的一部分，任何文本的意义都有直接或间接地反映一个相应的文化，词语意义最终也只能在相应的文化中找到。译制片本身就属于艺术的二度创作，目的就是向目的语观众介绍国外文化，促进民族文化的发展。 3.服务性 英语字幕不是独立存在的。它必须与影视作品的画面、声音等结合在一起才具有意义。如果把一段字幕抽取出来，单看其内容，是无法了解其真正涵义的，而其最终目的决定了字幕的服务性的特点。 4.时空受限性 既然字幕不可能独立于画面和声音而存在，这也就决定了其在时间停留和空间安排上都受到限制的特点。一方面，它不可能像书本上的文字一样长久停留在同一处，静止不动。随着与其语境相吻合的画面和声音的消失，它也必然消失，被下一句字幕所取代，即字幕瞬时性的本质。另一方面，字幕的空间存在也受到较大限制。影视剧最大的魅力就在于其图像与声音的完美结合。字幕作为并非必要的一种后来添加物，其存在的前提便是不能对画面的整体视觉效果造成较大的破坏。因此，字幕的排版也必须符合审美标准。 三、字幕翻译常用方法 1.直译法 由于不同国家的文化在大多数情况下是重叠的，所以原语言观众和目的语观众有相同或
论外国电影字幕翻译策略 发表时间：2014-06-20T10:28:27.750Z 来源：《中国科技教育*理论版》2014年4期作者：陈春平 [导读] 近些年来，人们对视听艺术的理解和需求正在发生着日新月异的变化，尤其是广大电影爱好者对大量入境影片的欣赏水平也曰益增高。 陈春平长江大学外国语言与应用语言学434023 摘要电影字幕翻译与其他文学作品不同，其他文学作品可以运用多种翻译技巧充分地翻译，而电影字幕翻译由于受时间和空间的限制，在翻译时必须采用减译的翻译方法。减译是字幕翻译中最常用的翻译技巧，也是字幕翻译的最显著特点。减译可分成四类，即缩译，略译，简化，删译。 关键词字幕翻译归化异化 前言：近些年来，人们对视听艺术的理解和需求正在发生着日新月异的变化，尤其是广大电影爱好者对大量入境影片的欣赏水平也曰益增高。对国外影片而言，无论是字幕翻译的数量，还是翻译者队伍的规模都在不断壮大，这无形之中是在顺应着时代和技术发展的潮流。但不可否认的是，英文影片字幕翻译仍存在些许问题，这无疑会影响影片的质量，本文旨在结合一些翻译的常见问题对其字幕翻译策略进行探究。 字幕的定义、功能及文字特点 1.1 字幕的定义 字幕是一种独特的翻译形式。Gotdieb(1992：162)用了五个单词生动准确地定义了字幕，他认为字幕是一种书面上的 (written)、需要适时添加东西的 (additive)、即时的(immediate)、同步的 (synchronous)、有多种传播媒介的 翻译形式。他还认为字幕就是用另外一种不同的语言把影视作品中的口头信息予以再现，往往采用一行或多行书面文字的形式，并且与原声同步出现在屏幕上。 1.2 字幕的功能 字幕的功能显而易见：提供信息但是字幕的信息功能有两个独特之处：一、字幕所提供的语言信息是和视觉信息、听觉信息密切配合的；二、字幕的语言信息呈递进式推进。第一个特点使我们认识到，字幕译者手上的工具不仅仅是语言符号。画面和声音照样可以成为他手上的工具，问题是怎样使他翻译出的文字和固有的视听信息所结合。共同实现信息功能第二个特点就是相对于配音和同声传译等翻译方式而言的。 1.3 字幕的文字特点 字幕是闪现在屏幕上的文字，不想书本上的字可供读者前后参照这种实现信息功能的特定方式，对字幕翻译形成了另一个制约。译者必须保证这种递进式的信息的衔接和连贯，保证观众能以最少的努力获取最清晰的信息。 2.字幕翻译的复杂性及标准 2.1 字幕翻译的复杂性 翻译本身就是一个高度复杂的过程，因为翻译时需要对读者或听众的语域、句法结构、社会心理和自身心理进行层层分析，还要层层研究读者或听众的反应以及所存在的文化差异。字幕翻译由于受其传播媒介内在限制，即受时间和空间的限制，就显得更加复杂。 2.2 字幕翻译的标准 字幕在它出现在屏幕上的几秒之内被观众看懂才行，因此字幕翻译的标准是简洁，清晰，意思恰当充分。字幕还不能成为观众的主要关注点，它的功能是帮助观众理解电影，观赏电影。好的字幕翻译一定是电影本身图象和声响的有效辅助。 3. 英文电影字幕翻译策略 3.1 直译法 大多数情况下，翻译人员不妨采取直译法，尽可能地保留英文原文中的形象生动，约定俗成的表达方式，从而保留原文生动，幽默的特点。2007年(总第 49期) 刘彬：英文电影字幕翻译策略之初探英文中“ki11 two birds with one stone”在影片中多次出现，许多人将其翻译为 “一箭双雕 ”，这显然是中国人的习惯表达方式，但倘若直译为“一石二鸟”，就会让国人了解西方人是如何借助不同参照物，不同方式来表达同一意思的。但我们不应该机械地套用和中国的历史文化息息相关的说法，这样会给观众造成文化上的错觉，而应视影片中的不同情况不同语境来处理。直译法还适用于一些英文电影中风趣幽默的表达。 3.2 意译法 为了保持原语的形式风格，有时单靠直译是无法做到的。这时我们不妨尝试一下意译法。因为语言中存在着巨大差异，英语当中的双关语绝大多数在汉语中无法找到对应的双关语。在英国影片《代理总裁》中，电梯人员曾说： “When is the sidewalk fully dressed ? When it is wearing hudsucker．”直译应该是：“人行道什么时候穿戴最整齐?当它穿着哈德萨克的时候。”哈德萨克是该公司的原总裁，功成名就后从45层楼纵身跳到下面的人行道上。由于他的教名 Waring和英文 “穿着”的现在分词 wearing读音相同，结果电梯工用来开了个玩笑。如果直译，中国观众会感到莫名其妙因而要保留原文黑色幽默的成分，不妨可以编为两句顺口溜：“人行道为什么美丽?因为有哈德萨克的尸体。” 3.3 前后照应法 多人翻译字幕时需谨慎。同一个剧本，由多个人分别分段进行翻译，无论采取的是直译法，还是意译法，都要做到前后互相照应。每个翻译人员都要看完整个影片，了解全部剧情。因为有些句子的翻译需要对整个剧情有所了解，盲人摸象，得到的解释也许就会出错。比如 sister一词，你可以翻译成 “姐妹、姐、女会员、修女、妹”，其中“女会员、修女”，当时就可以判断。但究竟是姐姐还是妹妹呢 ?我们绝不能盲目翻成 “姐妹”。观看影片，有的年龄差别可以从相貌上看出来，但还有年龄接近的，就很难判断了。 3.4 缩减法 由于字幕翻译是一种受限制的翻译，即其源语和目的语都受到空间和时间的制约，因此与文学翻译相比．在翻译策略的选择上自有其显著的特点它在语言的逻辑性、艺术性、感染力等方面都有更高的要求。较之单纯的文学翻译，又有更高的通俗性和广泛性。因此影视翻

浅谈英语电影字幕翻译(一) 【摘要】随着近几年来中外文化交流的深入,大量的外国影片被引介到中国,在娱乐人们眼球的同时,也促进着人们对于影片欣赏水平能力的提高。国外影片的引进,也刺激了另一个新兴领域—字幕翻译的发展,本文旨在通过探讨英语电影的字幕特点,以期提出一些翻译策略。【关键词】英语电影;字幕特点;翻译策略 一引言 近年来随着对外文化交流的发展与深入,一大批优秀的外国影片被引进到中国,受到人们的喜爱。大量国外影片的引进,带动了英语字幕翻译需求的增长,然而,关于英语电影字幕翻译的标准始终未有一个统一的标准,但由于影视作品是剧作者根据自身生活的经历或经验创造而成,反映了一定的社会文化背景,其语言对白具有不同于其他文体的显著特点。因此,在对英语电影翻译时,应把握住其特点进行翻译。 二英语电影字幕的语言特点 1口语性 以剧情为主的影视作品一般主要是靠角色之间的互动来展开情节,这种互动一般以对话来呈现。既然是对话,就是生活中浅显易懂的日常口语,即简短、直接、生动,并且含有较多的非正式语及俗语等。 2文化性 著名翻译家Nida指出:语言是文化的一部分,任何文本的意义都有直接或间接地反映一个相应的文化,词语意义最终也只能在相应的文化中找到。译制片本身就属于艺术的二度创作,目的就是向目的语观众介绍国外文化,促进民族文化的发展。 3服务性 英语字幕不是独立存在的。它必须与影视作品的画面、声音等结合在一起才具有意义。如果把一段字幕抽取出来,单看其内容,是无法了解其真正涵义的,而其最终目的决定了字幕的服务性的特点。 4时空受限性 既然字幕不可能独立于画面和声音而存在,这也就决定了其在时间停留和空间安排上都受到限制的特点。一方面,它不可能象书本上的文字一样长久停留在同一处,静止不动。随着与其语境相吻合的画面和声音的消失,它也必然消失,被下一句字幕所取代,即字幕瞬时性的本质。另一方面,字幕的空间存在也受到较大限制。影视剧最大的魅力就在于其图像与声音的完美结合。字幕作为并非必要的一种后来添加物,其存在的前提便是不能对画面的整体视觉效果造成较大的破坏。因此,字幕的排版也必须符合审美标准。在长期的字幕制作实践中,字幕的外观效果形成了较统一的评判标准,字体不能过大,也不能过小。另外,每一句字幕的长度也受到限制。由于画面是一闪而过,字幕停留的时间较短,往往只有两三秒甚至更少,因此内容不能太多。同时,是否添加标点符号,哪些标点可以省略,哪些不能省略,这些问题也必须加以考虑。
