(一)

We find that bright children are rarely held back by mixed-ability teaching. On the contrary, both their knowledge and experience are enriched. We feel that there are many disadvantages in streaming(把…… It does not take account of the fact that children develop at different rates. It can have a bad effect on both the bright and the not-so-bright children. After all, it can be quite discouraging to be at the bottom of the top grade! Besides, it is rather unreal to grade people just according to their intellectual(智力的) ability. This is only one aspect for their total personality.

We are concerned to develop the abilities of all our pupils to the full, but not just their academic ability. We also value personal qualities and social skills, and we find that mixed-ability teaching contributes to all these aspects of learning.

In our classrooms, we work in various ways. The pupils often work in groups: This gives them the opportunity to learn to cooperate, to share, and to develop leadership skills. They also learn how to cope with personal problems as well as learning how to think, to make decisions, to analyze and evaluate, and to communicate effectively. The pupils learn from each other as well as from the teacher.

Sometimes the pupils work in pairs; sometimes they work on individual tasks and assignments, and they can do this at their own speed. They also have some formal class teaching when this is appropriate. We encourage our pupils to use the library, and we teach them the skills they need in order to do this efficiently. An advanced pupil can do advanced work. It does not matter what age the child is. We expect our pupils to do their best, not their

least, and we give them every encouragement to attain this goal.

Art is an important part of education, not only on its own but in the rest of education as well. However, in this information age, advanced technology in school has gained more attention than art. Sometimes when the school has a tight budget, it is usually art rather than technology that becomes the first thing to cut.

Anyway, the significance of art can?t be ignored. First of all, in school it can help students develop a variety of life skills such as communication skills, problem-solving skills and self-expression skills. Secondly, for

high school students, those who are involved in art classes can have higher test scores. Besides, for some students, art seems to be the motivation for coming to school because it?s a subject that they can outshine, which eventually balances their educational experience.

New technology surely offers many benefits to some aspects of education, making teaching and learning easier and more effective. For example, technology simplifies tasks that take much longer to do, like conducting research or finding information. But advanced technology has bad effects such as the risk of being overweight, tiredness and even potential mental health problems, while art doesn?t. On the other hand, unlike art, new technology can develop students? critical(批判的) thinking skills and creative minds, both of which can help them find successful careers after they graduate. Furthermore, new technology can help students learn to bear responsibility, develop their imagination and increase their confidence.

Generally, advanced technology should not substitute for art in school, which is regarded as the first thing to cut out of the school curriculum.

根据文章第二段第二句“First of all, in school it can help students develop a variety of life skills...” a variety

从文章第二段最后一句“Besides, for some students, art seems to be the motivation for coming to school...”

根据文章第三段第四句“On the other hand, unlike art, new technology can develop students’ critical(批判的) thinking skills and creative minds,...”

technology can help students learn to bear responsibility, ...”

根据文章第三段最后一句“Furthermore, new technology can... develop their imagination and increase their confidence.”

根据文章最后一段的关键词Generally(一般而言;概括地;主要地)可知,最后一段应该是结论性的话。

10. kept/included/listed 信息转换题。根据文章最后一段“Generally, advanced technology should not substitute for art in school, which is regarded as the first thing to cut out of the school curriculum.”

Not only is life hard, it can become harder than we expect. One day we might be comfortably travelling along, and then suddenly it seems like everything is going wrong: Your study is in a mess, or you?ve just discovered that you?re not as financially stable as you thought, or you suddenly lose a friend or family member. The world has changed. Everything seems unfortunate and uncertain.

That?s when you can fall into the trap of negativity. You may lose enthusiasm and hope for everything, but it may seem like the natural thing to do is considering what you?re going through. How can we work on building a healthy and optimistic way of living when we?re overcome with pain, anxiety, and fear? No matter how hard things become, there are ways to deal with your situation.

Express gratitude. Value what you have, whether it?s a fantastic friend or a wonderful partner. Try making a list of things you?re grateful for every

night for two weeks. It can be even more powerful to express gratitude to someone who you feel truly thankful for. Write them a letter telling them how they have helped you. Additionally, try to have a sense of gratitude in everyday life for things both major and minor. Thank that stranger who goes a little out of his way to hold the door open for you. Appreciating the good in the world can change the way you look at life.

Volunteer. Take your awareness outside of yourself and focus it on the well-being of others. This may not be possible if you?re in crisis mode, but it can be very helpful if you?re increasingly preoccupied by your own negative thoughts. Many studies have shown that community service and charity are more satisfying over the long term than focusing on your problems. Try volunteering at your local library, homeless shelter or hospital. You can become less focused on the bad stuff you?ve been dealing with—and even form a connection with others in the process.

Change negative self-talk. It?s too easy to think the same negative thoughts over and over again. However, you can learn to change this by doing some cognitive-behavioral therapy(认知行为疗法) on yourself. When you notice yourself having a negative thought about yourself, replace it with a positive one. If you find yourself thinking “It?s all my fault”, stop and remind yourself of how well you?ve been coping and how others appreciate you.

The bottom line of becoming and remaining optimistic: We can?t change what happens to us or to loved ones, but we can change how we react to it. Though that process may take some time, it?s worth it because of the joy and peace of mind optimism can bring.

Worry about time pressure is so routine that it has become a common cultural vocabulary. Everybody, it seems, is stressed out about time, and achieving “balance” between work and family has become quite difficult for middle-class family life.

Just as businesses are shifting from Industrial Age to networks, so, too, is the American family undergoing a social revolution. With many educated mothers and fathers working longer hours, they are linked to their kids by a web of cellphones and e-mails.

Kids are taking part in more activities actively and are using information technologies to develop their own electronic networks of relationships, from friends at school to cousins in distant cities.

Others have mastered the art of combining work duty and home life in a way that was not possible before, answering an e-mail from work one minute and helping with homework the next. And the younger members of the family—already far more experienced in networking than their parents—are getting a chance to see what approaches work and what falls flat.

Historically, the organization of the family has mirrored, to some degree, the organization of the workplace. Take the classic middle-class family of the 1950s and 1960s for example. With a secure job, Dad could afford to work not much more than 40 hours a week, and Mom could stay at home to raise the children. The family of that time did many things together. The classic example is eating dinner every evening at the kitchen table.

Fast forward to the 2000s. Today, both Mom and Dad are more likely to have careers. The combined workweek of a husband and wife in their prime working years with children is 68 hours, up from 59 hours in 1979. The better educated the couple, the more hours they put in. At the same time, their jobs have changed. The rote work is being done by computers. At home, standards

for a healthy, emotionally rich family life are a lot higher than they used to be. Schedules during spare time are filled with all kinds of lessons for the kids, and exercise classes for Mom.

Now, parents? goal is to raise children to the creative and adaptable both to compete successfully with their Chinese and Indian peers(同龄人). To achieve these goals, families are learning to turn technology to their advantage. Many time-pressed workers now realize that technology creates greater possibilities for busy families to stay in touch and, at the same time, increase family time.

But just as e-mails and conference calls fill up time on the job, people often use the technology to fill too much in at home as well. You have to control the technology and make it work for you, not work you. If you tell yourself, “I?m not going to check my e-mail for two days,” you should never break your promise.

Some of the apps provide the latest information about areas hit by the virus, while others collect data on infected persons. The Chinese government is working with two of the country’s largest technology companies to keep track of the disease. The two, Alibaba Group and Tencent Holdings, created color-based systems that record the health of individuals and identify carriers of the coronavirus. In February, Alipay, a payment app operated by Alibaba, released a system that uses colored QR Codes to show the health of people in the city of Hangzhou. A QR code is a sign a smartphone can read with its camera. Once the sign is recognized, the phone takes the user directly to an internet link with information about a subject. After completing the questionnaire, users receive a mobile phone message. It includes a color-based QR Code that relates to the health situation they described. Users with a red code are told to quarantine themselves for 14 days and continue reporting their condition by using Alibaba’s DingTalk messaging app. Users with a yellow code are told to stay in quarantine for 7 days, while those with a green code can travel freely. Chinese state media said the Alibaba system would be deployed at train stations, along major roads and other travel checkpoints. They added that the system is also being used in some neighborhoods. People are asked to show QR Codes when entering their apartment buildings. Customers are asked to do the same before entering the local supermarket. Alipay said it was working with the government to expand the system nationwide. Tencent, which operates China’s popular messaging app WeChat, reported the launch of a similar QR Code-based tracking system. Tencent developed the system with help from China’s National Development and Reform Council, which is currently in use in the southern city of Shenzhen. Officials said they expected it to be deployed to other parts of Guangdong province soon. Even before the latest systems were announced, many Chinese were already using mapping and travel apps in an effort to avoid areas with coronavirus infections. One of the apps, developed by WeChat, uses official reports to identify places in the cities of Shenzhen and Guangzhou where coronavirus cases have been confirmed.

Do you obey the rules in your school? How do you like your school rules? A lot of school rules are similar around the world, but some are different. Every school has their own rules. There are some rules in Japanese schools. The students are not allowed to dye(染) their hair and should keep the hair Japanese black colour. They are not allowed to wear earrings, either. Almost all schools required students to wear uniforms in the past but now half of the schools require uniforms. In Japan, students are not allowed to have part-time jobs because they may not concentrate on their study. American schools have their own rules. For example, in Morton High School, students are not allowed to choose their own clothes. They must get to school and leave school on time. They must wear sports shoes in gym class. They should keep quiet in the school bus. In America, the students can have part- time jobs in their free time. (1)Why are the students not allowed to have part time jobs in Japan?

一般疑问句由Yes 或 No 来回答,而特殊疑问句由疑问词what,who,where,why,when,which 和how 引出,回答时需完成疑问词所指的对象。 比如“Is he a teacher or a student? ”答案是“He is a teacher.”或“ He is a student.”
