Unit10❶nolonger的用法1.no longer意为“不再”,通常放在行为动词的前面,be动词的后面。
no longer可用not...any longer代替。
例如:After her father died,she no longer went to school.=After her father died,she didn’t go to school any longer.她的父亲去世后,她就不再上学了。
2.no more/not...any more与no longer/not...any longer同义,但用法有所区别,当涉及数量和程度时,要用no more/not...any more。
例如:There is no more bread.没有面包了。
❷tobehonest的用法1.to be honest是不定式短语作插入语,意为“老实说,说实在的”。
类似短语有:to tell (you) the truth“说实话”,to be frank“坦率地说”。
例如:To be honest,you can’t pass the exam.老实说,你不能通过这次考试。
2.honest的同根词:dishonest adj.不诚实的dis-是否定前缀3.honest虽然以辅音字母h开头,但h不发音,所以honest仍然是以元音音素开头的词,故其前的不定冠词用an。

❸search的用法search是不及物动词,意为“搜寻;搜查”。
search还可以作及物动词。

辨析search,searchfor与search...for❹consider的用法consider作动词,意为“考虑;思考”时,其后可直接接名词或动名词形式,即consider (doing) sth.意为“考虑(做)某事”。
