My Hometown
When it comes to our hometowns, we always have too much to talk about in virtue of the
pride in our hometowns. I, without exception, am proud of my hometown.
Shanghai, where I was born, is one of the most dynamic metropolises in Chine of much
vitality. It is a commerce-oriented city that new developments pop up like mushrooms. Located
on the middle part of East China, Shanghai is a gateway to the Yangtze River Delta and a center
for international exchange.
Shanghai is a necessity on any agenda during a tour of China on account that when walking
along the Shanghai Nanjing Road, one of the most prestigious streets in China, people are able to
indulge themselves in the unique Shanghai culture, a combination of Chinese and Western
elements.
The Bund, which is honored of the International Architecture Exposition, is a necessity for
tourist in Shanghai. Facing The Bund across the Huangpu River, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, as a
token of Shanghai, is the highest piece of architecture in Shanghai.
However, the European-style skyscrapers are not the only feature Shanghai presenting.
Among the numerous Town God's Temple, Shanghai Chenghuang City Temple, with its long
history and magnificent architecture, has a good reputation both at home and abroad.
Located in Huangpu District, Yu Garden shows the architectural style of the classic garden in
China, which was once a private garden in the Ming Dynasty.
Shanghai has more than 150 so-called science education bases around the city including
museums, parks and activity centers. Many of the venues are free although some charges an
inexpensive entry fee. Here are 10 museums with unique features. They combine knowledge with
fun activities to enhance the learning experience.
Annually held in June, Shanghai International Film Festival is the world's most eye-catching
festival for movie fans all over the world. As a movie fanatic, I never miss the chance of enjoying
the movies of various cultures. With the booming film market in Shanghai, S. I. F. F has become a
symbol of culture life in Shanghai.
What's more, as Shanghai Disneyland is set to open in 2015 and a high-end duty-free center
opens around the same time in Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, so is the free trade zone in line with
the local government's call for a transformation of economic development, which will focus more
on boosting domestic consumption.
Without dispute, Shanghai anticipates to catering to the interests of people across the
world. Diverse cultures coexist in this magic land. Hence, it will be a melting pot like America.
Shanghai whose vigor, diversification and modernization will eternally branded in my memory
lives within my heart.
