其中的For baby/Animals尤其适合小宝宝的启蒙。

Here are four books that teach valuable money-related lessons and are children’s favorites.Lemonade in Winter by Emily JenkinsIt focuses on two siblings (兄弟姊妹) who make the interesting choice to open a lemonade stand in the middle of winter. The book features a memorable refrain (叠句) about lemonade while telling a story about how sometimes great ideas don’t turn out the way you expect them to.Bunny Money by Rosemary WellsThis is a “Max and Ruby” story, as it centers around a pair of rabbit siblings familiar to most parents of young children today. In this story, Ruby has saved $100 to buy her grandmother a birthday present, but various unexpected events happen to Ruby and Max, causing some of that money to disappear. Will they have enough money to buy gifts for their grandmother?Joseph Had a Little Overcoat by Simms TabackThe book tells the story of a man who has a nice overcoat, but he wears it a lot and it begins to wear out. Eventually, he reuses the material to make a jacket, then a vest, and then other different things until it becomes a cloth button. The book won the Caldecott Medal for its wonderful drawings. The Lemonade War by Jacqueline DaviesThis is the first in a series about two siblings who open competing lemonade stands. Except for the occasional Sunday dinners with friends, we spent much of our time in separate rooms. As a single parent, much of our communication involves me reminding him to clean his room, eat his vegetables or do his homework.I had a strong desire to hang out with my son outside the house, so I booked two tickets to Seoul for the September school holidays, surprising us both. With hurriedly packed suitcases and a basic travel plan built around some last-minute Google searches, we headed to the airport. There was a sense of liberation in reaching a destination without any set plans. We just walked for hours every day, stopping when we were hungry and wandering the back streets. Neither of us could speak Korean, so if we wanted to talk, we only had each other, which gave us a connection we don’t always have in our daily lives. My son was naturally curious, which made him a good traveler. And instead of questioning the things he suggested, I just went with them.He dragged me into shopping for jeans in stores down the street and made me catch buses that took us in the wrong direction entirely. He was unafraid and would walk into an art exhibition and manage to communicate enough, so the next minute we were offered cups of steaming green tea and shown artwork that wasn’t displayed on the walls.I saw him differently in South Korea. Not the child running late for school or forgetting to eat a bowl of carrots and peas, but someone taller than me who understood when to stand on a train so someone older could take his seat, and how to handle situations like trying on clothes and buying things with his own money.Traveling meant we were more like equals. And instead of feeling sad about the child version of him, I saw the adult he was becoming.41.What was the author’s role in her son’s daily life before the trip?A.The single parent sharing secrets.B.The single parent offering emotional support.C.The single parent guiding his ambitions.D.The single parent setting rules.42.Why did the author decide on the trip to Seoul with her son initially?A.To find purpose in life.B.To deeply bond with her son.C.To pick up a new language.D.To deeply expand their visions.43.What makes the author’s son a good traveler?A.Curiosity, bravery and sociability (好交际).B.Decisiveness (果断), endurance and safety awareness.C.Generosity, patience and perseverance.D.Language ability and a sense of direction.44.How does the author show her changed view of her son?A.Through character development.B.Through describing actions and behaviors.C.Through dialogue and interaction.D.Through citing others’ comments.45.What did the author probably think of the trip?A.Amusing.B.Demanding.C.Satisfying.D.Embarrassing.Americans are becoming more and more cautious about the way their personal information is being collected on the Web. A new Washington Post-Schar School poll (民意调查), for example, found that 72% of respondents (答复者) trusted Facebook “not much” or “not at all” to handle the data it collected on them responsibly. And 70% said they believed their smartphone or other tech devices were listening to them in ways they hadn’t agreed to.That warning proves reasonable. But many adult gift-givers may not realize that some children’s toys are collecting personal data, too. Toys with cameras, mobile apps, andrequirements to set up online accounts that store data about the toys and their users present privacy concerns. Toys that employ Bluetooth connections, for example, could be easily hacked (非法侵入).In 2022, My Friend Cayla — an early smart toy that used facial and voice recognition — was quite popular worldwide. If the Cayla doll was connected to a phone, data would be sent to the manufacturer (制造商) and a third-party company. And anyone with the My Friend Cayla app on their phone within 30 feet of a toy could access the toy and listen to the child user. So Germany made a special order for the doll Today, the only surviving Cayla dolls in Germany exist in the German Spy Museum in Berlin.Internet connected toys are really a problem these days. Many toy manufacturers are trying to build in protections, but that is not enough. The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), provides a more important layer of defense by requiring parents to be involved in researching a smart toy before buying it, setting up the toy and having their children’s online data removed when privacy concerns have been raised. The worldwide market for smart toys is expected to reach almost $70 billion in the next five years. As a father, I admit that these toys can be wonderfully engaging, entertaining, and even educational. Action figures, robots, or dolls that talk back and hold conversations can become loved companions. But we adults need to be sure that these high-tech friends aren’t also snitching (告发) on our children to online databases in inappropriate ways.46.What was the Washington Post-Schar School poll probably about?A.How children responded to the latest smart toys.B.Whether social media and tech devices were trustworthy.C.Whether the use of technology could promote toy sales.D.How tech companies collected users’ information.47.What do many parents ignore when they buy smart toys for their children?A.The necessity of letting children have their own accounts.B.The damage by smart toys to children’s mental health.C.The security risks caused by smart toys.D.The importance of downloading suitable apps for children.48.What was the German government’s special order intended for?A.Advertising a new smart phone technology.B.Preserving the collections in museums.C.Rejecting the Cayla doll.D.Urging parents and children to play with toys together.49.What does COPPA stress in terms of dealing with the problem?A.Governments’ regulations on the toy market.B.Toy producers’ efforts to protect online data.C.Children’s right to choose their favorite toys.D.Parents’ role in protecting children’s privacy.50.What’s the author’s attitude to smart toys?A.Objective.B.Hopeful.C.Negative.D.Doubtful.In theory, apps such as Vinted and Depop for selling second-hand clothes offer an opportunity to be both economical and fashionable, which can be good news for shoppers worried about rising costs and the sustainability (可持续性) of buying new clothes. Second-hand markets like these have long been praised as a wiser and more sustainable shopping choice. But our research has found these markets hide the issues caused by our consumption. They offer only individualized, gradual solutions to the vast global problem of waste.Experts in the business world are enthusiastic about the “circular (循环的) economy” created by apps where “pre-loved” clothes are marketed as a means of extending the lives of clothing and other consumer goods. Some resale markets are firmly situated within the common-sense understanding of the circular economy, as they enable unwanted goods to move on within the system, rather than being thrown away. But a truly circular economy ought to not only recycle goods but also prevent the future production of waste. According to a report by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, by 2030 we will produce over 100 million tons of new clothing each year, contributing to climate change more than international flights and shipping combined. So second-hand reselling has not significantly impacted the production of the global textile (纺织品) market.Buying and selling second-hand gets talked about and even advertised as what good, clever people do, especially under rising costs of living. Using a reselling app, or donating to and buyingfrom charity shops, creates a “warm glow” that balances the guilt of buying something new. However, second-hand markets are built to increase consumption, not cut it back. Charity shops, for example, under increasing pressure to be profitable, have to take on more professionalized and “for-profit” selling habits. Even luxury companies welcome second-hand shopping as it makes their market more attractive and means future consumers can get their goods.Apart from the individualized solution offered by the second-hand market, we should instead consider collective approaches. It could involve making brands responsible for the full lifecycle of the things they create and holding producers and governments responsible for their environmental failings.51.What is a long-standing belief about online second-hand markets?A.They leave shoppers less worried.B.They are eco-friendly shopping options.C.They ruin the shopping experience.D.They provide sustainable clothes.52.Which of the following belongs to the “truly circular economy”?A.Stopping future waste and recycling.B.Promoting the circulation of goods.C.Extending the shelf life of goods.D.Producing more goods with less energy.53.Why does the author mention the report from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation?A.To emphasize the necessity of recycling textiles.B.To show second-hand markets’ failure to reduce textile waste.C.To stress the need for innovation in the textile market at present.D.To compare the main contributors to climate change.54.What attitude do charity shops and luxury companies hold toward the second-hand market?A.Tolerant.B.Neutral.C.Supportive.D.Contradictory. 55.What can be a solution to the waste crisis?A.Removal of second-hand markets.B.increased funding for reselling apps.C.Standardization of clothing production.D.Joint efforts of the whole society.阅读表达Isabella, who is 10 years old, has been training in the athletic center since 2020. She enjoys taking part in the 800 meters, 1,500 meters and cross-country racing events. Early in 2024 Isabella completed in the state championships in all of these three events and qualified for the national competitions.Isabella is enthusiastic about her experience in the national competitions. She said that the most exciting thing for her was meeting other athletes from around Australia, including a new friend named Jessica. According to Isabella, when she participated at state level, the bar was raised. “The national competitions are really hard; it’s harder to win,” she says.Project worker Lisa notes that competing has had a positive impact on the young athlete. “Isabella’s participation in national competitions has enriched her life educationally, culturally and socially, ”she says.Isabella’s mother is her inspiration. Isabella is very grateful to her mother for the sacrifices she has made to enable Isabella to train. In order to motivate her and accompany her to the weekly training sessions, Isabella’s mother has to regularly give up work opportunities. Her mother, along with the rest of the family, is doing their best to raise the funds required for regular travel and registration fees. This is a common struggle for some families pursuing success for their children.Isabella longs to follow in the footsteps of her father, a talented runner and the first person in the family to complete in the Stawell Gift. When she is talking about running, she smiles with satisfaction and happiness. When she asked what her favorite about running is, she wastes no time in saying “winning”. Considering the hard work going on behind the scenes to help Isabella follow her love of running, the athlete’s simple motto—never give up—is somewhat important. 56.How did Isabella find her experience in the national competitions? And then I’ll be ready to go. OK, Max? Froggy! Don’t you think that’ll look beautiful at our tea party? I just don’t know what little brother sees in froggies, as actually when they could be picking beautiful flowers. Let’s see if these go with the others. Oh, they are perfect! Grandma’s going to love this centerpiece. I think I’ve got just the right number of flowers. All right, Max. It’s time to go home. Grandma’s going to be overseen for our tea party. Froggy! You have to say goodbye to the froggy now. It’s time to go home. I’ll put all your toys in the wagon. Froggy! I picked up everything. All I need now is Max. Max! You have to come now. Don’t fall off, little flowers. I want Grandma to see every beautiful little petal. Max, are you…oh! Froggy! Max, you can’t bring froggy home. Froggy wants to stay here in the creek. It’s his home. Go take froggy back to his home. I’ll wait for you. Bye, Froggy! Max, hurry! Grandma’s going to be at our house any minute. Oh, good. You are here. Mmm, let me see your hands. No Froggy? Good. Then let’s go. What was that? All right, Max. Where is it? Froggy! Creek! Back it goes, Max. We can’t have any froggies at tea party for Grandma. Hurry up, Max. At last! You finally let the froggy go back home? I’d better check. Let me see your hands, Max. No froggy? No froggy! Good. Now, let me check your overalls’ pocket. No froggy? No froggy! OK, let’s go, Max. We’ve got a lot to do before Grandma comes over. We have to set the table, and arrange the flowers in the centerpiece, and put out the tea and cookies. I found this vase to put the flowers in. Don’t they look beautiful, Max? Oh! What was that? I heard a froggy, Max. Where is it? It seems to be coming from…over here? It seems to be coming from behind you, Max. A-ha! There it is. Froggy! Max, froggy can’t come and stay here. He wants to be at home in his creek. Besides, Grandma is going to be here soon. And a tea party is no place for froggies. Back he goes, Max. Let’s see. What else do we need? Tea, of course. Bye, Froggy! Hi, Max. Let me see your hands. No froggy? No froggy! Let me check your front pocket. No froggy? No froggy! All right! Now, your backpocket. No froggy? No froggy! Good! Now, you can have our tea party with Grandma. And now… Grandma! What are you doing with that froggy? I found him along the path to your house. So I thought I’d give him a ride. What a beautiful centerpiece! I made it myself. Somebody else seems to like it too. Froggy! Max and Ruby第一季02:Max’s Music的字幕: Thanks for fixing the chair, Max. Valerie and Louise are coming over to practice for the Bunny Scout Concert. Our group is called “Ruby's Red Hot Trio”. And we are going to play ‘The Farmer in the Dell”. Play! That’s not how you play piano, Max. Oh, good. They are here. Hi, Ruby! Hi, Ruby! Hello, Valerie. Hi, Louise. Are you ready to practice? I’ve got my violin right here. And I’ve got my recorder. Would you like to see it? I carry it in this case to keep it safe. See, I blew in this end and music comes out that end. Play! There’s only one recorder, Max. And only one violin. You don’t have a musical instrument, Max. So you can’t make music. Play! Introducing “Ruby's Red Hot Trio”! Featuring: Ruby on piano. Louise on violin. And Valerie on recorder. Play! It’s “Ruby's Red Hot Trio”, Max. That means three musicians. Not four! Four is a quartet. And a quintet is five. Play. Stop making noise, Max. We are making music. Tools do not make music. I’m sorry you can’t play music with us. But we could use a helper. Yes, every musician needs a helper. All kinds of people need helpers. You could start by carrying our instrument cases off stage please. Thank you, Max. Now, we can practice. Why don’t we practice our solos first? That way, we’ll be perfect when we play together. That’s a great idea. I’ve been practicing my solo all day. It’s no wonder you are the band leader. I’ve been practicing too. Bravo! Thank you! Thank you! Play! It’s time for your solo, Valerie. I’m a bit nervous. You and Louise are such good musicians. You can do it, Valerie. I did it. You played “Baba Black Sheep” beautifully, Valerie. Only, we are practicing ‘Farmer in the Dell” for the concert. Oops! A wrong music. What’s that noise? It’s not me! Play! Please stop making noise, Max. You can’t make music. But you can help. Here, why don’t you take these concert posters out and take them up for people can see them? Thank you, Max. Now, we can practice. Hello, Max. Advertising for the Bunny Scout Concert I see. I’m really looking forward to hearing them. The only thing better than hearing a concert band, is being in the concert band. OK, Red Hot Trio. What’s that noise? Now that we are playing together, it’s more difficult. How are we going to be ready for the Bunny Scout Concert? I’ll tap my foot and time to the beat. You can both follow me. Let’s try. One…and two…and three! We sound awful! Were you watching my foot, Valerie? I tried, but I can’t watch your foot and play at the same time. I need to look at my fingers. We’ve just got to try again until we get it right. Max, what are you doing? Wait, I think it’s working. Do that again, Max. Howdy, it is working. That’s it. Keep going, Max. That was perfect. We’ll have to change our name to “Ruby’s Red Hot Quartet”. Featuring: Ruby on piano. Louise on violin. Valerie on recorder. And Max on Wixom! Music.
