It's a noble profession that allows you to help people when they're at their most vulnerable, provide comfort and healing, and make a real difference in the world. As I look ahead to my future life as a physician, I'm filled with a sense of purpose and determination. The journey to becoming a doctor is long and arduous, but I know it will be worth it in the end. First, I'll need to complete my undergraduate studies, majoring in something like biology, chemistry, or biochemistry. During this time, I'll have to maintain an excellent GPA and load up on the prerequisite science courses. I'll also need to prepare for and take the MCAT, the daunting entrance exam for medical school. If all goes well, I'll be accepted into a prestigious medical school program. Those four years will be incredibly challengingas I'm immersed in intense coursework covering everything from anatomy and physiology to pharmacology and medical ethics. Long nights of studying and stress will be the norm. But I'll push through, driven by my passion to one day call myself "Doctor."The training doesn't stop after graduating from medical school. I'll then need to complete a multi-year residency program in my chosen specialty. This hands-on clinical experience will be invaluable as I work side-by-side with experienced doctors, treating patients under their supervision. Residencies are notoriously grueling with long hours andhigh-pressure situations, but they'll shape me into the competent physician I aspire to be.After residency, I may decide to go a step further and complete a fellowship, which provides advanced training in a subspecialty like pediatric cardiology or oncology surgery. Or I may go straight into practicing medicine. Either way, the learning never stops - doctors must continually stay updated on the latest research, techniques, and best practices throughout their careers. No matter which medical field I ultimately choose, be it family medicine, emergency medicine, surgery, or something else entirely, certain core qualities will be essential: compassion, dedication, critical thinking skills, and the ability to remain calm under intense pressure. A good bedside manner and strong communication skills will allow me to clearly explain diagnoses and treatment plans. An unwavering ethical code will ensure I always put my patients' wellbeing first.Of course, life as a doctor isn't just about the intellectual and medical aspects - it's also a highly demanding job in terms of hours and personal sacrifices. I'll have to be prepared for long, erratic shifts that could span day and night. Holidays, weekends, and special occasions may have to be missed due to being on call at the hospital. The stress and responsibility of having people's lives in my hands will weigh heavy. But I'll find ways to achieve a reasonable work-life balance by setting boundaries, taking time off when I can, and nurturing my relationships with family and friends. The financial realities are also a factor to consider. After accumulating years of student debt from medical school, my income as a resident will start off relatively low compared to my peers in other careers. But I'm prepared to live frugally during those lean years, secure in the knowledge that I'll eventually have a very comfortable salary as an attending physician. Money isn'tmy primary motivator - helping others and finding meaning in my work is what's truly important.Despite the challenges, I can't imagine doing anything else with my life. Becoming a doctor has been my singular dream for as long as I can remember. When I envision my future self, I see a fulfilled, hard-working healer who wakes up every morning feeling grateful for the opportunity to positively impact people's lives. Whether I'm delivering babies, setting broken bones, counseling patients through difficult diagnoses, or performing life-saving surgeries, the rewards of this noble calling will make all the sacrifices worthwhile. In my mind's eye, I can picture myself making my way down the pristine halls of a hospital, clad in a white coat with a stethoscope around my neck - a symbol of the sacred trust patients place in me as their doctor. I'll draw upon my years of intensive training to diagnose and treat each patient with expertise, operating from a place of deep scientific knowledge and human compassion. No matter how complex the case, I'll pour all my energy and intelligence into being a consummate professional and doing everything possible to help my patients heal. Some days will be long, stressful, and emotionally draining as I deal with difficult cases, scared families, and unfortunate outcomes that are outside of my control. But I'll take solace in knowing that I'm making a positive difference in whatever way I can. Diabetes develops when the body does not make enough of the hormone insulin(胰岛素)or makes no insulin at all. It also can develop when the body is not able to use the insulin that is made. The body changes food into a sugar called glucose. Glucose enters the blood and is taken to cells in all parts of the body. Insulin helps the muscles, organs and tissues(组织)take in the glucose and change it into energy. The pancreas(胰腺) is the organ that produces insulin. When too much glucose in the blood, the pancreas produces the necessary insulin and sends it into the blood. The insulin reduces the level of blood sugar by letting it enter cells.Diabetes is present when too much glucose remains in the blood and does not enter cells. If the amount of glucose in the blood remains too high, it begins to damage the body.Over time, diabetes can cause blindness, kidney(肾脏)disease, and nerve damage. High glucose levels in the blood also can lead to strokes and heart disease. Blood flow also is affected, especially in thelegs. Often, victims of diabetes must have a foot or even a leg removed because of problems linked to the disease. Diabetes patients are more likely than other people to die of heart disease or kidney failure. There are two main kinds of diabetes.Type one diabetes generally affects children and young people. It results from a lack of insulin production. The exact cause is not known. But some experts believe the body's defenses against disease for some reason destroy the cells that produce insulin.Signs of the disease may develop suddenly. People suffering from type one Diabetes may develop a strong desire for food or something to drink. Other signs are increased production of liquid wastes, loss of body weight, changes in eyesight and feeling extremely tired.People with type one diabetes almost always need daily injections of insulin. Diabetes patients must always know their blood sugar levels. When glucose levels are too high, they must use insulin to reduce them. And they may use medicines that help reduce their glucose levels. The World Health Organization estimates that about ninety percent of people with diabetes worldwide have type two. This kind of diabetes was seen only in adults until recently. It is now being increasingly seen in children who are very fat. Most people with type two diabetes are overweight and need physicalexercise. Their bodies cannot produce enough insulin to reduce glucose levels in their blood. Or their bodies do not react correctly to the insulin being produced.Signs of type two diabetes are similar to those of type one. But experts say many people with type two diabetes have no signs. As a result, the disease may not be recognized until after the patient has already begun to develop medical problems.Experts say genes seem to be important in the development of diabetes. They say that about ninety percent of those with type two diabetes have family members who also had the disease. Some women develop unexpected diabetes during pregnancy. This is called gestational diabetes, and usually disappears after the baby is born. Do physical exercises; keep a balanced diet ; avoid the food which contains high sugar and high fatGreen tea , pea, tripe these food can help us getting away from diabetes.4. studying abroadWhy Study Abroad?Besides the excitement of travel, one reason to study abroad is that you will experience new customs, holidays, foods, art, music, and politics firsthand.Another reason for studying abroad is that you'll gain self-confidence. In addition to preparing physically, don't neglect your emotional health. Consider journal writing to help process your experience. Finally, if you make your decision then go ahead and never give up in the half way.5. environmental toxinsNowadays , our environment is filled with various kinds of toxins . In my point of view , the major sources of the environmental toxins are from industrial discharge and agricultural pesticides and automobiles. Most industrial factories let chemical waste out and discharge them into water which cause damages to the marine environment and threatening human life through contaminated seafood.Agricultural pesticides also bring about many environmental toxins. They are spread by farmers to prevent insects but, at the same time, they are threatening human’s life too. Because most of chemical elements they contain are harmful to human’s health, especially when they are overspread. With the growth of the number of automobiles, despite of the convenience they bring to us, they are also responsible for a great part of toxins spread in the air.Establishing and improving environmental protection. How to improve this problem?Government should publish strict law to control the discharge of chemical toxins in air or river, and unqualified factories must be closed or moved out.Control the dosage of pesticides, and develop the technique of transgenic plant, this kind of plants have less harmful chemical toxins. The most effective way is to government’s control the number of private cars.Speeding up technological progress must also be considered. Blood clots occur when you leave part of your body immobile for a long period of time, such as when recouping from your surgery. Once the area has been immobile for too long, blood begins to pool. The pooling then turns into a clot.As long as the clot breaks up slowly there is no problem. However, if the full clot dislodges itself, it can travel through the entire body until it reaches the heart or brain causing a heart attack or stroke. Suture Complications3.Another common complication has to do with the sutures used toseal the skin tissue back up until it has had time to heal. If these sutures are too loose they can come undone causing mild to massive internal bleeding or hernias. If not caught quickly this could lead to a great amount of blood loss. It also requires additional surgery to repair the affected area.Infection4.Infection is another common side effect of surgery. During theprocedure, and during the healing time after the surgery, the patient is vulnerable to infection of the open areas of the tissue. In mild cases an infection may just slow down the amount of time your surgical wounds take to heal. However, in severe cases an infection can spread and even kill you.Anesthesia5.Anytime you need anesthesia for an operation there areserious health risks. The first of these is blocked airways. Many times anesthesia may cause irritation to the airways. This causes your vocal chords to spasm which in turn blocks air from entering your lungs. If this happens, the anesthesiologist will have to either insert a tube or cut a opening in your windpipe to allow you to breathe. Anesthesia may also trigger an allergic reaction to the chemicals used during the process. In rare cases, anesthesia may even cause death.。

The Future of Medicine In my 55 years as a physician, I've seen my share of what modern medicine can do. During the 40 years when I was a pediatric surgeon, I saw 95% mortality rates for congenital defects transformed into 95% survival rates because of what surgery can accomplish. As U.S. Surgeon General, I saw effective prevention and treatment techniques beat back the mortality from tobacco use and AIDS. And now, as an 85-year-old, my life has been prolonged and kept active by wonder drugs unknown to my parents. So it's been somewhat surprising in this era of triumph for modern medicine to see the rapid growth of alternative/complementary medicine, which is used by as many as one in three Americans. Although most of those still refrain from informing their regular physicians about that use, there is a growing tendency among physicians to acknowledge and even embrace certain forms of alternative/complementary medicine. Changes in the use of the terms "alternative" and "complementary" suggest the shape of this shift. At first, it was called simply "alternative medicine," reflecting dissatisfaction with regular medicine as well as a cultural rebellion against the biomedical community. In more recent years, several studies indicate that there has been a shift from "alternative" therapies to "complementary" therapies, adopted not in opposition to regular medicine but in alliance with it. And increasingly those who use one of the many forms of complementary medicine are not treating a specific medical problem. Rather, they are practicing prevention in ways they find more congruent with their philosophical values or lifestyle. Now I think we may be seeing another refinement, one that is taking us from "complementary" to "safe and effective." For some people, the appeal of alternative medicine lies in its alternative stance, and as some of these therapies enter the mainstream, some of these individuals may seek other alternative practices. But more and more Americans are demanding greater certainty from alternative or complementary products as an increasing number of press reports document health problems resulting from certain natural products and complementary practices. Thus, the baby-boom health consciousness that led to the resurgence of alternative/complementary medicine now turns toward solutions that rest more heavily on science. We went through a somewhat similar passage a century ago, when dissatisfaction with regular medicine and a growing consumer market in health products led to the widespread use of a variety of nostrums and patent medicines; some no doubt helpful, some merely enjoyable, and some downright dangerous. At that time, journalists and the public pressed for scientific research to support proper branding and safety, culminating in the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906. Much later, evidence of effectiveness was added to the list. Some among the sellers and buyers of health products objected at first to the intrusion of research-based evaluation into the health market, but soon both came to profit from increased consumer confidence in those health products. For too long, the natural health products industry has kept its distance from medical research and from clinical medical practice, focusing instead on the short-term marketing advantages derived from keeping herbal and nutritional remedies exempt from any Food and Drug Administration (FDA) review of efficacy. A wiser approach would be for the natural products industry to work with medical research, including the FDA, so that consumers and medical practitioners could be warned about potential harm and assured that the claimed health benefits were really there. Although the growth in the use of alternative/complementary medicine is likely to continue, recent surveys and market data confirm a growing American concern about safety. In this new climate of national wariness and concern for personal safety, those interested in selling and buying natural products associated with complementary medicine will be better off in the long run if reliable research is able to certify their safety and efficacy. As America's baby boomers become senior citizens, the health care system needs the relief provided by effective prevention of disease and disability. There is a potential role for some complementary therapies and natural health products in preparing us to meet the challenges of the 21st century. But it can only be played if that industry and its proponents are prepared to meet real scientific and regulatory tests of safety and effectiveness.
