Read, Think and Comment
This passage is a piece of narration. It tells how an accident
happens. The writer narrates the actions in the order of their
occurrence. The first sentence of the paragraph gives the setting
of the accident: the time and place. It then introduces the
character, or the protagonist, to whom the accident is to happen. A few words are given to pave the way for the main action. The
second paragraph focuses on the action, namely the accident.
The vividness of the narration is achieved through the writer’s
accurate description of details and effective use of specific verbal
phrases. The third paragraph tells the result, which is unexpected
and rather bizarre. The man who was wounded fatally in the head
did not die, but miraculously he was able to speak and walk.
