My teacher had to go over those with me like a million times!Then we got into family words like "mother", "father", "sister", "brother", "grandfather", "grandmother". I have a big family so those stuck pretty well. But then we added "aunt", "uncle", "cousin", and I started confusing who was who. My aunt actually is my mom's cousin... or is she my dad's cousin? At first, I was a bit intimidated by the thick stack of word lists we got from our English textbook. But Ms. Wang, our teacher, gave us some good tips on how to tackle them.The very first unit has us learning words related to greetings, classroom objects, and basic instructions. Words like "hello", "goodbye", "book", "pen", "open your books" are a nice warmup.By now, I've got those down pat from repeating them so much in class. The real challenge starts with the second unit all about numbers from 1 to 100. I have to admit I struggled a bit with spelling out some of the bigger numbers at first. "Seventy-six", "eighty-nine", those were tricky! But repetition and making flashcards really helped cement them in my brain.Unit 3 was all about colors, and that one was fun because I could visualize each color as I learned the words. "Red", "blue", "green"...I'll never forget how to spell those. Although I did mix up "pink" and "purple" a few times! But by Unit 7, things ramped up to a whole new level with words about animals. You're hitting me with crazy spellingslike "elephant", "hippopotamus", and "rhinoceros"?! I spent so many nights just reciting those over and over until I could reliably write them from dictation.Just when I thought it couldn't get any harder, Unit 8 brought furniture words into the mix. Why did "dresser", "closet", and "armchair" have to be so weirdly spelled? Definitely a tongue-twister trying to say them all rapidly too. At least "bed", "chair", and "table" gave me a little breather!The random smattering of occupation words in Unit 9 felt like a walk in the park compared to animals and furniture. Although I'll admit I mixed up "farmer", "teacher", and "doctor" more times than I care to admit during our dictations. He's so cute and furry and loves when I pet him and play fetch. My friend Sara has a cat and a rabbit as pets too. Aren't animals just the cutest?We've learned so many awesome words for foods too, like "apple" (that one again!), "banana", "orange", "carrot", "bread", "rice", and lots more. I love basically all foods, but I'm really not a big fan of carrots. They're just too... carrot-y tasting if you know what I mean! Give me some fres。
