3.With your partner, talk about water shortage and its possible solutions. B: Hi, cs, what are you reading? You look a little worried.
C: Hi, zs, I’m reading a newspaper which shows the situation of water shortage in China. It’s really horrible.
B: Water shortage?
C: Yes. Our country is one of the 12 water-deficient countries in the world. With the growth of population in China, there has been an enormous increase in the demand for water in the past decades. And If we can’t find ways to reduce our demand for water, the water will disappear.
B:Really? It’s terrible. People even can’t imagine the life without water. Without water, the earth we live on would be a dead one. There would be no trees, no crops, no animals and no people.
C:Yes. People c an’t live without water. The water shortage has been a serious issue in China.
B:What can we do now? How about we suggest people to save water when they wash clothes and take showers?
C:T hat’s a good idea. What’s more, people can use the water of washing clothes to flush the toilet.
B: Yeah. People also can use the water of washing vegetables to water the flowers. C:That’s a good idea, too. But I think this is only a temporary solution not a permanent one.
B: Then what should we do?
C:I think We should develop seawater desalination technology and sewage purification technology.
B:Good idea. The sea water is much more than the fresh water. And we can improve utilization rate of fresh water by using sewage purification technology.
C:Yeah. You are right. And Israel has developed a relatively advanced desalination technology. It indicates that it can work.
B:Good. With these technologies, the water shortage in China will be greatly improved.
C:Yes, I agree.
B: But I think we should make more people be aware of this problem. Do you think so?
C:Yes. Let’s go to do this.
