Ladies and gentlemen,Good morning/afternoon/evening! It is my great honor to stand before you today and share with you some thoughts on the power of determination and perseverance in the journey of learning English.First of all, let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Yu Minhong, and I am the founder of New Oriental, a leading educational group in China. I have spent a significant part of my life in the field of English education, and during this time, I have witnessed countless students facing challenges and overcoming difficulties to achieve their dreams. Now, let's talk about English. English is a global language that connects people from all corners of the world. It is not just a tool for communication, but also a key to unlocking opportunities in the globalized world. Whether you aspire to study abroad, work in an international company, or simply travel the world, mastering English can make your dreams come true. However, learning English is not an easy task. It requires dedication, hard work, and, most importantly, a positive mindset. Today, I wouldlike to share with you some insights and motivational messages that I believe can inspire you on your English learning journey.1. Set Clear GoalsThe first step to success is to set clear goals. What do you want to achieve with your English learning? Do you want to pass an English proficiency test like TOEFL or IELTS? Do you want to speak fluently in English? Or do you simply want to improve your communication skills? Once you have a clear goal in mind, you will have a direction to follow.Remember, a goal without a plan is just a wish. Break down your goalinto smaller, achievable targets, and create a study plan that suits your schedule. Set deadlines for each target, and make sure to review your progress regularly.2. Believe in YourselfSelf-belief is the foundation of success. Many students get discouraged when they face difficulties in learning English. They start to doubt their abilities and question whether they can ever achieve their goals.I want to tell you, ladies and gentlemen, that everyone has thepotential to learn English. It is not about how smart you are, but about how much effort you are willing to put in. Believe in yourself, and never give up, no matter how tough the journey may be.3. Embrace ChallengesLearning a new language is never a smooth ride. You will encounter obstacles, make mistakes, and sometimes feel frustrated. However, these challenges are not meant to discourage you, but to make you stronger.Embrace the challenges as opportunities for growth. When you make mistakes, don't be afraid to ask for help or seek feedback. Learn from your mistakes, and keep moving forward. Remember, every challenge you overcome will bring you one step closer to your goal.4. Be ConsistentConsistency is key to success in learning English. You cannot expect to achieve your goals overnight. It takes time and effort to build your vocabulary, improve your grammar, and enhance your speaking andlistening skills.Make English a part of your daily life. Dedicate a certain amount of time each day to study English, and try to immerse yourself in an English-speaking environment as much as possible. Whether it's watching English movies, listening to English music, or reading English books, make English a habit.5. Surround Yourself with SupportLearning English is not a solo journey. Surround yourself with people who support you and encourage you. Join an English learning group, find a language exchange partner, or seek guidance from a tutor. These people can provide you with motivation, advice, and encouragement when you need it the most.6. Never Stop LearningThe world is constantly changing, and so is the English language. Keep yourself updated with the latest trends and developments in English.Don't be afraid to try new things and challenge yourself. The more you learn, the more confident you will become. In conclusion, learning English is a journey filled with challenges and rewards. It requires determination, perseverance, and a positive mindset. Remember, success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.Ladies and gentlemen, I believe in you. I believe that each one of you has the potential to achieve great things in your English learning journey. So, go ahead, take that first step, and never look back. Your dreams are within reach, and with hard work and dedication, you will undoubtedly succeed.Thank you for your attention, and I wish you all the best in yourEnglish learning endeavors!Q&A SessionLadies and gentlemen, I am now open to any questions you may have. Please feel free to ask, and I will do my best to answer them.。

Although most of his childhood was spent helping his father in the field his mother always encourageded him to go to school."My mother's only hope and desire was to see me become a teacher. She knew first hand how hard the life of a peasant was so she kept urging me to go to school. I still remember her words, 'be a teacher, be a teacher, you must be a teacher'."When Yu Minhong entered the last year of high school, it was time to choose his future: whether to go back home and work as a farmer, or to take the college entrance exam. For most of Yu Minhong's classmates who came from rural families, going to university seemed like a dream. So he turned to his teacher for an answer."At that time, I had a wonderful English teacher. He strongly recommended every one of us to take the college entrance exam. He said to us, 'I hope you grasp this opportunity for higher education. Once you try you will never regret it.'"Persuaded by his teacher, Yu Minhong took the exam. Unsurprisingly, it ended in a terrible failure. The following year, he tried and failed once more."I was extremely upset. Most rural students would give upafter failing the college entrance exam twice. I also decided to quit, although I still imagined myself going to university. "But for his mother, giving up was not an option. On the one hand, she encouraged her son to stick to his dream. His lecture style fascinated thousands of Chinese college students. Zhao Kun is a student at the Communication University of China in Beijing."Mr. Yu Minhong came to my university last semester and gave a lecture to... about 1,500 students in the auditorium. I think every student present was captivated by his speaking style, especially his humor and his passion. The laughter never stopped throughout the entire lecture. I think one of the most improtant features of his speaking style is that he always makes fun of himself. So in a way, he became one of the... you know, like an oldfriend. I think that it is why he became a hero among the grass-root population."As the enrollment at New Oriental School grew larger, Yu Minhong could no longer handle the business by himself. He visited the United States and tried to persuade his former classmates to work with him. To maintainyour leading position though, you have to keep doing 'a little more' than your competition."Some media are giving him the moniker of "the most successful teacher ever". But Yu says he is "still far from being successful"."We are not successful, at least not until now. We have to be cautious, because folly often hides behind achievement.
