Some people have one career throughout their lives. Other people do different kinds of work at different points in their lives. Which do you think is better? Explain why. I think having different kinds of work at different points in lives is better. Life has different stages and in each stage people might want to do different things. For example, I have a friend who became a programmer when he just graduated from the college. After three-years programming, he got bored with it and wanted to be a designer. Then he changed his job to design the appearance of computers. After four-year’s designing career, he suddenly wanted to be a writer. Since he never stopped reading and he loved novels, he was good at writing stories. Guess what? Now, he is a freelancer and has published several articles. He believes he has experienced enough and wants to write something out. Life is a long, long journey in which we go to many different places and in each place we do different things.

Communal online encyclopedias represent one of the latest resources to be found on the Internet. They are in many respects like traditional printed encyclopedias collections of articles on various subjects. What is specific to these online encyclopedias, however, is that any Internet user can contribute a new article or make an editorial change in an existing one. As a result, the encyclopedia is authored by the whole community of Internet users. The idea might sound attractive, but the communal online encyclopedias have several important problems that make them much less valuable than traditional, printed encyclopedias.First, contributors to a communal online encyclopedia often lack academic credentials, thereby making their contributions partially informed at best and downright inaccurate in many cases. Traditional encyclopedias are written by trained experts who adhere to standards of academic rigor that nonspecialists cannot really achieve.Second, even if the original entry in the online encyclopedia is correct, the communal nature of these online encyclopedias gives unscrupulous users and vandals or hackers the opportunity to fabricate, delete, and corrupt information in the encyclopedia. Once changes have been made to the original text, an unsuspecting user cannot tell the entry has been tampered with. None of this is possible with a traditional encyclopedia.Third, the communal encyclopedias focus too frequently, and in too great a depth, on trivial and popular topics, which createsa false impression of what is important and what is not. A child doing research for a school project may discover that a major historical event receives as much attention in an online encyclopedia as, say, a single long-running television program. The traditional encyclopedia provides a considered view of what topics to include or exclude and contains a sense of proportion that online "democratic" communal encyclopedias do not. The communal online encyclopedia will probably never be perfect, but that's a small price to pay for what it does offer. The criticisms in the reading are largely the result of prejudice against and ignorance about how far online encyclopedias have come.First, errors. It's hardly a fair criticism that encyclopedias online have errors. Traditional encyclopedias have never been close to perfectly accurate, ifyou are looking for a realty comprehensive reference work without any mistakes, you are not going to find it, on or off line. The real point is that it's easy for errors in factual material to be corrected in an online encyclopedia. But with the printed and bound encyclopedia, the errors remain for decades.Second, hacking. Online encyclopedias have recognized the importance of protecting their articles from malicious hackers. One strategy they started using is to put the crucial facts in the articles that nobody disputes in a read-only format, which is a format that no one can make changes to. That way you are making sure that the crucial facts in the articles are reliable. Another strategy that's being used is to have special editors whose job is to monitor all changes made to the articles and eliminate those changes that are clearly malicious.Third, what's worth knowing about? The problem fortraditional encyclopedias is that they have limited space, so they have to decide what's important and what's not. And in practice, the judgments of the group of academics that make these decisions don't reflect the great range of interests that people really have. But space is definitely not an issue for online encyclopedias. The academic articles are still represented in online encyclopedias, but there can be a great variety of articles and topics that accurately reflect the great diversity of users' interests. The diversity of use in topics that online encyclopedias offer is one of their strongest advantages托福TPO6综合写作满分范文:In the reading passage, the author holds the idea that communal online encyclopedias are less valuable than traditional, printed one. However, the lecturer strongly refutes this idea. The reading passage, the author states that a communal online encyclopedia is often with errors and inaccuracies, which is attributed to unprofessional contributors. However, the lecture contends that there are also some inaccuracies in traditional encyclopedias. And the errors and inaccuracies can be corrected easily in an online encyclopedia, while with traditional encyclopedia, errors might remain for decades. As to the belief in the reading passage that the online encyclopedia gives many chances of fabricating, deleting and corrupting information to unscrupulous users and vandals or hackers, lecturer gives two strategies that have been proven very effective in protecting online encyclopedias from malicious alteration. She explains that contents that consist of indisputable facts are stored and presented in a read-only format so that nobody can make changes to them. In addition, she says, there are specialists who constantly monitor contents online so thatthey can quickly remove a suspicious change once it is detected.。
Nowadays, life condition has changed a lot compared with past several decades. In my opinion, today’s life is easier and more comfortable than the past, even though some one may argue that there are also some negative effects, such as air pollution, mental stress and work pressure.Firstly, compared with the old people’s communicationmethod, internet brings us more conveniences in many fields. On the one hand, instead of the face to face talk, people can communicate with each other more freely. It is not only beneficial to keep harmony relationship with each other but also improve the efficiency of communication. On the other hand, People can obtain almost everything they want online, such as searching for information, studying, or shopping, which leaves out the trouble of going outside and walking through the crowd.Additionally, on talking aboutthe convenient public transportation, which not only can saves much more time within the same distance , but also ameliorate the feeling by affording passenger more comfortable environment during their travel. Meanwhile, when our parents were children, their life space was always limited due to poor transportation infrastructure.Admittedly, with the life pace become more and faster, modern people are also struggling from the increased workload and pressure, because of which they have less time accompany with theirfamilies. However, there are also more entertainments, like gyms, bars and playgrounds which can provides officers opportunitiesto relax themselves. In sum, current life has changed a lot with the development of science and technology, modern people lives more comfortable than the past.。

In fact, historically, only small groups have managed to survive in the unforgiving rainforest that encompasses the entire area. The Amazon Rainforest contains abundant plant and animal life yet is incapable of supporting sizable human populations. One reason for this is the poor quality of the soil, which is acidic in nature. Therefore, while farmers can raise crops such as corn and beans for one or two seasons, after that, the soil becomes so depleted that nothing else will grow in it. Even today, when more advanced farming methods are available, not enough food can be grown to support a large number of people in the Amazon. In the past, there was a lack of sources of protein, which humans need to survive, in the Amazon. Food animals such as cows and sheep only appeared in South America when the Europeans imported them in the 1500s. Even after being introduced to the land, there were never big herds of animals because the poor soil and jungle-covered land could not produce sufficient food to support them.Three great civilizations once lived in the Americas: the Mayas, Incas, and Aztecs. None of them resided in the Amazon. Additionally, the people in all three civilizations constructed stone buildings. Stone was the primary building material for their palaces and temples, which humans in ancient cultures virtually always constructed. Yet there is little stone that can be used for construction anywhere in the Amazon. Likewise, no palaces and temples have been discovered or unearthed by archaeologists, which makes it unlikely that any human settlements of considerable size ever existed there. Only small groups have managed to survive in the unforgiving rainforest that encompasses the entire area.

1】Nowadays, an increasing number of people focus on personal enjoyment, with an ignorance of things they should do. As for me, people should sometimes do things that they don’t enjoy doing. And things that aren’t “fun” are still beneficial for us in the long run. From personal intends. Hardly anyone does enjoy having their annual check-upwith the doctor, rarely anyone does enjoy changing the oil in their car, seldom anyone does enjoy mowing their lawns. However, these are all things we do because we have to, not because we want to. We realize that taking care of ourphysical health is the sensible thing to do. We know that if we don’t change theoil in our cars, our cars won’t run. We understand that grass grows and if we don’t mow it, our lawns will look like tropical forests.Learning is another part deserves consideration. No students likes to be stuck with a tedius homework or to be told we have to study with someone no one else gets along with. No students likes to put up with unfair criticism from parents or resentment from those they costudy with. No students likes to take numerous tests and exams or obey the order doing homework after school. None of these are fun things. Unfortunately, they’re all part of acquring knowledge, something the great majority of students have to do.On the other hand, sometimes doing something we don’t enjoy doing can lead to enjoyment.Simply by trying it again, we may decide we like doing it. For instance, we may have convincedourselves we hate to dance. We agree to go to a club only to please someone else. Yet, for somereason, this time we enjoy dancing. We’ve been cheating ourselves ofenjoyment without evenknowing it. The same can be true of trying new foods or going to a new type of museum.Doing what we should do even if we don’t enjoy doesn’t always have to be a bother.【范文2】It is undeniable that being successful is enjoyable. Nevertheless, it is absolutely unrealistic to think we can be successful in the long run by only doing what we enjoy doing. A skyscraper often amaze people by the magnificent appearance, however, at the same time, people neglect the very fact that theskyscraper had been taken a long time to construct, maybe much longer time to bedesigned, and possibly people’s lives were sacrificed during the constructing process. From all intends and purposes, things that are necessary are not alwaysenjoyable and things that are enjoyable sometimes may be unnecessary. Doing things that are necessary rather than those that are merely enjoyable is not only helpful, but might also be indispensable for individual success. We all admire those who now have attained great achievements, let’s take examples of prominent celebrities like pianist Lang Lang. We should, however, be aware of the exorbitant prices they have paid for their present glories. During the interview in THE TIME 100 The world’s Most Influential People, Lang Lang oncetold that when he was four years old, he and his partners were required to practice more than 2 hours a day; and earlier he was sent to be an apprentice when he was hardly three. Apparently, those seemingly cruel hardships have turned out to be the best gift years later. But for yesterday’s struggle, today’s glories could not exist.Like a saying goes, ‘No sweet without sweat’. Things that are both enjoyable and necessary or both unenjoyable and unnecessary virtually seldom exist. We may dislike some curriculums in university, such as mathematics or history, but they are necessary; we may prefer leisure times to work days, but the latter are indispensable. Pursuing a successful life is nothing more than making wise decisions, and by “wise” we mean the choice of doing the necessary first.。

Talk about a photograph or painting you have seen that was memorable. Explain what you liked or disliked about it.答案:Well, there's this one painting that I saw in an art gallery that has really stuck with me. It was a Van Gogh, "Starry Night". Oh man, where do I start? I just love the way he used all those swirling lines. It's like the sky is alive and the stars are dancing. The colors are also super cool. The deep blues and the bright yellows create this really dreamy and sort of other worldly feeling. It makes me feel like I'm looking at a view from another planet or something. And I like how he painted the village in the foreground. It's so small compared to the huge sky, which gives you this sense of how vast the universe is and how tiny we humans are. There'sreally nothing I dislike about it. Every time I look at it, either in person or in a book, I get lost in it for a few minutes. It's like a little escape into a beautiful, crazy world.Task 2.题目:Some people have one career throughout their lives. Other people do different kinds of work at different points in their lives. Which do you think is better? Explain why.答案:Well, you know, I think doing different kinds of work atdifferent points in life can be really awesome. It's like having a whole bunch of different adventures. I mean, if you have just one career all your life, it can get kind of boring, right? You're just doing the same old thing day in and day out. But if you switch it up, you get to learn all kinds of new skills. For example, you could start off as a teacher, andthen later on decide to become a graphic designer. You get to meetdifferent people in different fields, and you have a lot more stories to tell. It's like living several different lives in one. On the other hand, having one career can give you a lot of stability and you can become an expert in that one area. But I still think the variety of changing careersis more exciting. It's like trying different flavors of ice cream insteadof just sticking to vanilla all your life.Task 3.题目:Reading: The university is planning to close the campus coffee shop because not many students use it. Also, it has been losing money for the past two years.Listening: The man disagrees. He says that the coffee shop is in a bad location. If it was moved to the student center, more students would go there. Also, he says that the coffee shop is losing money because it hasold equipment. If they bought new equipment, they could make better coffee and drinks faster, which would attract more customers.答案:Well, I don't think the university should close the campus coffee shop. The man in the conversation has some really good points. First of all, the location of the coffee shop is just all wrong. It's like they put it in a corner where no one can find it. If they moved it to the student center, that's like the heart of the campus. Everyone is always there, chatting, studying, or just hanging out. So of course more students would stop by for a cup of joe. And second, the old equipment is really a bummer. I mean, who wants to wait forever for a cup of coffee? If they got some new, shiny equipment, they could whip up those lattes and cappuccinos in no time. And the coffee would probably taste a whole lot better too. So instead ofclosing it down, the university should just give it a little makeover and anew location. It could be a really cool place for students to relax and get their caffeine fix.Task 4.题目:Reading: Concept of "emotional intelligence", which is theability to understand and manage one's own emotions and also to besensitive to others' emotions.Listening: The professor gives an example of a manager in a company. This manager was really good at her job in terms of getting work done. But she had a problem. She was always so stressed out and would get angryeasily at her employees. As a result, her employees were afraid of her and didn't want to work with her. Then she went to a workshop on emotional intelligence. She learned how to recognize when she was getting stressed and how to control her anger. She also became more aware of her employees' feelings. After that, the work environment improved a lot. Her employees were happier and more productive.答案:So, this emotional intelligence thing is really important, you know. Take that manager in the example. At first, she was like a ticking time bomb. She could get things done, but she was so bad with her emotions. She was stressed all the time and would just blow up at her employees. I bet those employees were walking on eggshells around her. But then she went to that workshop and learned about emotional intelligence. It was like she got a superpower. She could see when she was about to lose it and stop herself. And she started to care about how her employees were feeling too. That's when things got better. The employees were no longer scared and they could actually focus on their work. They were more productive because they were happy. So emotional intelligence is not just some fancy term. It can really make a difference in the workplace or in any situation where youhave to deal with people. It's like having a magic key to get along with others better.Task 5.题目:The woman's problem is that she has a really important group project due next week, but she also has a chance to go on a weekend trip with her friends which she has been looking forward to for a long time.Listening: One solution is that she could skip the trip and focus on the project. Another solution is that she could go on the trip and then work really hard on the project when she gets back.答案:Man, this is a tough situation for the girl. If I were her, I'd be so torn. I mean, on one hand, the group project is super important. If she skips the trip and focuses on it, she can make sure it's really good. She won't have to worry about rushing through it when she gets back. And her group members will probably be really happy that she's so dedicated. But on the other hand, that trip with her friends! She's been waiting forit for ages. It would be such a bummer to miss out. If she goes on the trip and then works hard when she gets back, she could still get the project done. But she might be really tired from the trip and stressed out trying to finish the project in a short time. I think I would probably go on the trip. I mean, life is short and we need to have some fun too. But I would make sure to bring my laptop and do a little bit of work on the project during the trip if I could, like maybe research some stuff. And then when I get back, I'd lock myself in my room and work like crazy on it.Task 6.题目:The lecture is about two ways that animals protect themselves from predators. One way is by using camouflage, and the other way is by having aposematic coloration (warning coloration).Listening: For camouflage, the professor gives the example of a stick insect. It looks exactly like a stick. So when a predator is looking for food, it's really hard to spot the stick insect. It blends in with its environment so well that it can just sit there and the predator will think it's just part of the scenery. For aposematic coloration, the example is a poison dart frog. It has really bright colors like red, blue and yellow. These bright colors are a warning to predators that it's poisonous. Predators learn to avoid these brightly colored animals because they know that if they eat them, they'll get sick or even die.答案:So, animals have some really cool ways to protect themselves from those mean predators. Take the stick insect for example. It's like a little master of disguise. It looks just like a stick. I can just imagine a bird flying around looking for a snack and it just passes right over the stick insect because it thinks it's just a twig. It's so amazing how it can blend in like that. And then there's the poison dart frog. Oh man, those bright colors are like a big sign that says "Stay away!". It's like the frog is wearing a neon sign that says "I'm poisonous, don't eat me!". Predators are smart enough to learn that those bright colors mean trouble. So they just leave the frog alone. These two ways are like nature's own little defense mechanisms. One is all about hiding and the other is about scaring off the bad guys.。

Task:It has been said, “Not everything that is learned is contained in books.” Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?. We all crave knowledge, especially in this Age of Information, but what is the best source of knowledge? Are we to believe Albert Camus, who stated” The place we are to get knowledge is in books”? Or are we better served by following Albert Einstein's counsel that “The only source of knowledge is experience”? Although books have their place in one's learning, there is no substitute for experience; indeed, it is experience that is ultimately the most important source of knowledge.First, let us consider the knowledge needed to undertake a profession-for example, that of a physician. Knowledge gained from books provides the foundation of a doctor's training: study in a medical school begins with a near-overload of reading on anatomy, physiology and maladies both rare and common. However, during this time the medical student is also learning through experience, beginning with dissecting cadavers from almost the first day of medical school. Then, the aspiring physician must complete four years of residency, consisting of actual supervised experience at a hospital in which he or she now must put into practice all of the knowledge he or she has edge of dealing with patients, prescribing medication, and the joy and sadness of saving and losing patients; in other words, it is through experience that these residents finally learn what it means to be a doctor. What about knowledge other than professional expertise-for example, knowledge about another culture? In this realm as well, both books and real-life experience enrich and edify us. For example, Paris is perhaps the most talked-about and written-about city in the world. We could read Hemingway's A Moveable Feast, in which he describes the excitement and intellectual spirit-as well as the restaurants and plentiful red wine-of Paris in the 1920's. Or, we could travel to Paris and eat at bistros, walk across the Pont Neuf and look at the river Seine, visit the Louvre museum, and have adventures of our own. Clearly, most people would have attained more lasting and vivid knowledge by visiting Paris on their own rather than reading about it secondhand. In summary, experience, rather than books, is more central to our quest for learning, especially with regard to professional expertise. With regard to learning about another culture, experience is also irreplaceable. Yet not everyone in the world will have the health or financial resources to carry out a trip to Paris. But many people have access to a local library where they can borrow A Moveable Feast and, at no cost, read Hemingway's vibrant descriptions of Paris. We cannot forget the complementary and unique knowledge afforded by books, but experience is the most precious source of knowledge. Some people say that computers have made life easier and more convenient. Other people saythat computers have made life more complex and stressful. What is your opinion? Use specificreasons and examples to support your answer. Some universities require students to choose a variety of subjects; others only require students tospecialize in one subject. I deem the first one as the premier choice. Among countless factors, there are three conspicuous aspects as follows. The main reason for my propensity that students should take classes in many subjects is that theycan make full use of the abundant resources that a university has to offer. A university has plentyof educational and research resources. It is a very good idea to make full use of these valuableassets while studying in the university. The best way to achieve this is to take a variety of subjectsas much as possible. Through learning these courses, a student can get access to knowledge andresources in different areas. On the contrary, if a student only specializes in one subject, he willnot have a chance to get access to other resources offered by the university.Another reason can be seen by every person is that by choosing many subjects students can broaden their knowledge and make a solid foundation for their future concentrated study. Whatever the student will concentrate on in his senior years in college, it is necessary that hechoose a wide range of subjects to build the knowledge foundation. Take the field of BusinessManagement for example, the student has to acquire knowledge in writing, accounting, economicsand human resource management before he can successfully start his major concentration argument I support in the first paragraph is also in a position of advantage because studentscan be more adaptable in their future career if they choose a variety of subjects during theiruniversity study. It is obvious that the development of modern society requires people with inter-disciplinary and comprehensive knowledge. The new guidelines improved the situation in all there areas discussed in the passage.First, the new guidelines state that before any construction project can start, the construction site has to be examined by archaeologists to see whether the site is of archaeological interest or value. If the site is of archaeological interest, the next step is for the builders, archaeologists and local government officials to get together and make a plan for preserving the archaeological artifacts, either by building around them or by excavating and documenting them properly before the construction is allowed to proceed.Second, an important part of the new guidelines is a rule that any archaeological work done on the construction site will be paid for by the construction company not by the government. The construction company has to pay for the initial examination of the site, and then for all the work carried out under the preservation plan. This is a whole new source of financial support. The funding from construction companies has allowed researchers to study a far greater range of archaeological sites than they could in the past.Last, the new guidelines provide a lot of paid work for archaeologists, work that didn’t exist before. Expert archaeologists are now hired at all stages of the process to examine the site for archaeological value, then to help draw up the preservation plan to do the research in a professional scientific manner and finally to process the date and write reports and articles. The increased job and career opportunities in Archaeology have increased the number of professional archaeologists in Britain, which is now the highest it’s ever been. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
