通读全句，考查点是谓语动词和多重定语，以及固定搭配。本句包含的信息比较广；首先，“没能够做到某事”对应的英语表达是fail to do sth.；其次， “没能做到的事情”是“提供事实”，即supply facts；第三，“与案件有关的”relevant to the case则是定语，修饰“事实”；而“正在讨论（中）的” 则是“案件”的定语，对应的英语词组是in question；这部分因此应翻译成 failed to supply the facts relevant to the case in question。

一、分析句子结构，掌握各种从句
做中译英时，并不一定要按中文排列的顺序逐字翻译，而要仔细分析中文句子，找出主要成分和附加的修饰成分，先把英语译文的主要框架确定下来，即确定句型。这就涉及到了各种从句的结构。在历年的从句考核中，状语从句、定语从句和宾语从句似乎考到次数最多的。下面主要以上海高考卷中的一些翻译题为例，简要说明一下各从句中的要点和难点。
例5 多参加些体育锻炼，你就不那么容易感冒了。(If…) （2004年春季高考） If you take/have more physical exercise(s), you will not catch/are not likely to catch a cold easily. 该句考的是条件状语从句。If引导的条件状语从句，从句用一般现在时，主句用将来时。
例3 彼得每月留出一点钱以便在不久的将来购买一辆新汽车。(set aside)（1998上海高考） Peter sets aside some money every month so that he can buy a new car in the near future. 该题考了so that 引导的目的状语从句，so that 后面有情态动词的一般为目的状语从句，没有的一般为结果状语从句。

高考英语中译英评分与解题技巧(不看不知道一看有门道)

高考英语中译英评分与解题技巧评分标准如下：单词拼写、标点符号、大小写错误累计每两处扣１分；语法错误每处扣１分，每句同类错误不重复扣分；译文没有用所给单词扣一分。

纵观历年高考中译英题，大家就会发现每一题中都含有两三个词语和一两个句型，由此可见要做好中译英题首先要掌握词语和一些常见的句型，在此基础上结合语法知识，按照英语表达的习惯，才能译出准确达意的句子。

例如，要翻译下面的句子他在网球比赛中输的原因是他不习惯与那个左撇子运动员打球。

（ａｃｃｕｓｔｏｍ）首先，通读全句，想一想可以用什么词语和句型来表达。

“．．．．．．的原因是因为”的英语表达句型是The reason why …is that…，“在比赛中输“可以用lose the game或be beaten in the match来表述．＂习惯做某事＂如果用accustom来表达，应该用be accustomed to doing 这个词语，“左撇子运动员”则应该用left-handed sportsman。

再考虑一下整个句子发生的时间是在过去，所以确定基本时态是过去式，而句中的其他动词的时态则应该与之呼应。

这样就可以写出：The reason why he was beaten in the tennis match was that he was not accustomed to playing with the left-handed sportsman.再检查一遍，检查一下动词的时态和呼应是否正确，名词的单复数和冠词的使用是否符合句意，标点符号是否漏写。

照此思路进行一些针对性地练习，定能做到事半功倍，准确度也会大大提高。

我们可以按下述步骤来进行考前训练.首先，复习并能熟练运用各种句型。

其中简单句的重点之一是掌握可以带复合宾语的若干动词。

其基本句型为:主语+谓语动词(及物)+宾语+宾语补足语（复合宾语）常用动词有see, watch, hear, observe, feel, find, listen to, suppose, notice以及get, ask, have, leave, keep, make 等如：a. Her lecture got us interested in the subject.(宾语补足语)b. Nobody noticed him entering the room on tiptoe.c. The book left all of us in deep thought.d. The little boy is cutting the cane short.e. The government supplied the victims with food and water.f. They even had the light on during daytime.上述句中的划线部分均为宾语补足语，它们分别由过去分词、现在分词、介词短语、形容词、副词和不定式构成。

1.忽悠fool you这个中译英，堪称是最经典的一个例子，在发音上fool you,可不就是福建话里的“忽悠”吗？再者，fool you和忽悠，都是两个字，形式很接近，最后，在意思上也很接近。

fool本来就是愚弄的意思，fool you ,愚弄你，就是忽悠的意思。

2.单身狗Damn Single看到这个翻译，一下子笑喷了，Damn Single，大家读得快点，看一下是不是跟单身狗的发音？一摸一样在意思上，damn在英语中是咒骂，加强语气词，single是单身的意思，那么damn single相当于说“活该你单身”，可不就是单身狗的意思么？3.不折腾No Z-turn在国外生活过的小伙伴可能知道，在道路上有种叫作"No U turn"的标语，意思是不能U型转弯。

在这里呢，No Z turn，是翻译者改编出来的，这里的Z特别形象，一会朝左，一会朝右，那可不就是折腾吗？所以，No Z turn的意思就很明显了—不折腾，而且在发音上No Z-turn 和不折腾也很相近。
