Anne Of Green GablesAnne, the Green Gables, is a sweet description of children’s lives. This book mainly tells us: Matthew and marera are living in plain life in Green Gables. In order to find a helper for Matthew, who had a heart attack, they were going to adopt a boy from an orphanage, and the orphanage was sending a red hair. The chattering eleven year old girl, Anne. Little Anne was naive and passionate, full of romantic imagination. In her imagination, the naughty brook laughs under the ice and snow; if the roses talk, they have to tell us a lot of funny stories...Anne is a bitter child. She won the love of Matthew and siblings with the kindness and effort of her own, and left her in the “green mountain wall”. After several misunderstandings, everyone slowly liked the strong and optimistic Anne. Anne did not like the simple dress of his own, but soon he would be happy to imagine her skirt as a princess skirt with lace. Anne studied hard, and at last she was able to go to college with a scholarship. But at this time Matthew died, and Maria’s eyes were almost blind,so Anne dropped to college and left to teach to accompany Maria.Anne in the hard face of adversity, never complained, always put it all into a perfect fantasy, then happy mood. The cherry blossoms, the ponds, and all the scenes are perfectly perfect in her eyes, and she will always give a nice name. When he came to the green wall, Anne felt that he was the luckiest man in the world. She rewarded Matthew and siblings with a grateful heart, making Matthew and siblings feel happy never! She is willing to help others, like a happy bird, like the tinkling stream, like a spring breeze, always bring you a fresh feeling of happiness.Anne not only loves the fantasy, but also is optimistic, to the heart. In response to the unfortunate life and experience, she had no complaints, but was always smiling. Mary asked Anne before. “You are so poor, but why are you so happy?” Anne answered seriously: “life is like a mirror. If you smile at it, it will laugh at you. Instead of worrying about your face every day, you can live happily every day, so that I can make peace with my parents in theheavens.” What an insightful view is this! That’s true of our lives! There is a Anne of many who are not the quality of gratitude: adoption Matthew stimulated sudden death, Mary graduated from the school hardly wished to live., Queen Anne to take care of another adopter -- at Marilla, put down the dream of self - stay in the University, Anvili taught, as Anne I said: “the futur e is like a straight road, the road is now turning, I believe there must be a very good scenery.” After reading the book “Anne of Green Gables”, I deeply condemned myself in my heart: I hated myself for not thinking about my parents, clamoring for my parents to buy books for me everyday. Thanksgiving, these two words like a hammer on each of our hearts, how many children at the moment know how to be grateful?

The kind of language used by the two characters:Anne Shirley’s:According to Marilla's thoughts(p47), I know that there is nothing rude or slangy in what she does say .13. Which one of the two characters I think is more interesting and the reason.I think Anne Shirley is the one who is more interesting.Being an extremely imaginative girl, she makes some funny mistakes, such as"the affair of the amethyst brooch"(p106-116),"the haunted wood mistake"(p185-p188),"the liniment cake mistake"(p196-p200),"themistake of dyeing her hair green"(p239-p247).I can't help laughing during the reading.14. Which one of the two characters I think is more influenced by their culture and the explanation. In my opinion, Anne Shirley more influenced by her culture.Firstly, She no longer easy to lose her temper and be tolerant toward the person who laugh at her (p247).Secondly, She learnes to let her imagination run riot within reasonable limits(p279).Thirdly, she gives up her unrealistic dream of becoming rich and realizes that the best best place is home (p267).Fourthly, she grows from mistakes and behaves in right way and finally win people's trust and appreciation (p280-p281).15. Question for discussion:Why the author put emphasis on describing the female characters and pays little heed to the male characters in the novel. It 's evident that most of the female characters play the dominant role and they are smart,kind-hearted,and successful. While the male characters are quite the contrary.Do you think the author tends to be a feminist?I think the author tends to be a feminist. Here below I list some characters appeared in the novel to prove to your satisfaction.Female characters:Anne Shirley:She is the leading character in the novel. She is interesting(p7,p40,p180),smart(p60,p123,p230),full of curiosity and imagination (p40,p67,p184,p234-p236) and loyal to her friends(p99,p148, p150, p327) .Marilla Cuthbert :She is amiable and has a secret soft side. Her love to Anne is silent(P230,p311).She appears in almost every chapter.Diana Barry :She is pretty, good and smar(p66)t.she is Anne's bosom friend and loyal to Anne(p166).Mrs. Rachel Lynde : Although she doesn't appreciate Anne in the beginning, she changes her attitude to Anne(p280-p281). She is helpful(p131-p135,p224-p225), and loves doing work for the church.she also makes a dress for Anne(p224-p225).Miss Muriel Stacy:She is a bright, sympathetic young woman with the happy gift of winning and holding the affections of her pupils and bringing out the best that was in them mentally and morally (P214).All the students in her class aimed at passing the entrance exam at Queen's College do not let their parents down(P296).male characters:Gilbert Blythe :He is the hidden leading male character but he failed to appeal Anne's attention(P124).The frequency of his appearance in the novel even less than that of Diana Barry's.Matthew Cuthbert :He is Marilla's brother and it is he who first wants to adopt Anne(P33).His love towards Anne seems much deeper than Marilla's,but he palys an insignificant role in the novel.Thomas Lynde:He is a meek man whom Avonlea people called Rachel Lynde 's husband. He is only mentioned on a few brief occasions, and never speaks(p2).Mr. Phillips: He spells Anne's name without an 'e'(P126).He humiliates Anne by punishing her and only her when a dozen pupils arrive late, and by making her sit with Gilbert Blythe(p128-p129). He keeps an ambiguous relationship with his pupil(P120,p159). He is not a competent teacher(P132).Mr. Bentley:He is lack in imagination. He was a widower when he came, and a widower he remaind(P190-p191).In the novel ,the author lavishs praise on the female characters and seldom describes the male character even though some of them are kind enough, let alone those who are not noble-minded.It seems that the author ignores the male characters deliberately. So I come to the conclusion that the author tends to be a feminist.0912010430 Susie。
