Those talented musical performers, however, are only some of the people involved in making the music you enjoy. Most people in the music industry work "behind the scenes", but their roles in the music-making process are very important.SongwritersBefore you can hear a song, a songwriter must imagine it Some songwriters work alone, but many songwriting teams include someone who writes the song’s words, and another person who writes the music. Pop music legend Elton John’s best-known songs, including Tiny Dancer and Your Song, were written to accompany the words of Bernie Taupin, whose name you might not know.ArrangersAfter a song has been written, music arrangers make it more appealing by deciding which instruments will be used, what speed the song will have, and the song’s pitch. A good arrangement can make a song a “classic” that people will remember and want to hear again and again.Recording EngineersRecording engineers also play a major role in creating the final sound that you hear. First, they set up the recording studio, the room where the performers play. Next, they use electronic equipment to record the music. Finally, long afterthe musicians have finished, recording engineers use a mixing board to balance the sounds of each musician, and sometimes to incorporate special sound effects or additional tracks.Studio MusiciansMany talented singers and musicians aren’t stars, but work in the background as studio musicians. These artists aren’t mem bers of one musical group. Instead, they are hired for recording sessions that eventually become the music you buy, as well as the music used in television shows, movies, and radio ads. Many people make a living with music. You may not recognize all of their names, but all of them work together to create the songs you love to listen to.1.What is the best title for this passage?A.The People Behind the Music B.The Music ManC.How Music Is Made D.It’s More Than Just a Song2.Who usually decide what instruments are used in a song ?A.Songwriters. But according to researchers in Germany, there may be a reason why we find it hard to get up on winter days. No, it’s not laziness—it could be because we need more sleep during the cold months. A team of scientists studied the sleeping habits of almost 200 people. During the study, the participants (参与者) had been asked to go to sleep at the same time as usual, but they were told not to use alarms. The participants were tested for several days each month over a year. The results showed that people got more REM sleep in winter than in spring—about 30 minutes more on average. REM, which means rapid eye movement, is important for brain development. Dreams usually happen during REM sleep. And we’re more likely to remember these dreams. There are different stages of our sleep, and REM usually starts 60 to 90 minutes after we go to sleep. However, we leave this stage several times, and most of our REM sleep actually happens in the second half of the night. The body tries to get as much REM sleep as it needs—so if you’re getting more, then it’s for a good reason, say experts. All those who took part in the German study had sleep problems, and similar studies will need to be done on people who don’t have problems sleeping, say the researchers. However, they think their results might show it could be a good idea for us to change our sleeping habits at different times of year.41.What were the participants asked to do?A.Use alarms as usual. B.Be tested every day.C.Solve their sleep problems. D.Go to bed at the same time as usual. 42.How long did the study last?A.Several days. B.A month. C.Over a year. D.A week. 43.Which of the following is TRUE about REM sleep?A.We keep this stage all night.B.It starts as soon as we go to sleep.C.Our eyes move slowly during this stage.D.We probably remember the dreams we have during this stage.44.Who took part in the German study?A.People who like to sleep in winter. B.People who have sleep problems.C.People who don’t have sleep problems.D.People who don’t like to sleep in winter. 45.What can we know from the passage?A.We need to sleep more in winter.B.The longer we sleep, the healthier we are.C.More REM sleep is bad for health.D.More people are having sleep problems.根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

In Ghana,India and Singapore , Englishis used as a working language, for example, between bosses and secretaries and between doctors and patients, although there are other languages for everyday use.In China and many other countries,English is the. most important toreign language that children learn at school, because when they grow up, it will be quite possible for them to meet people from other countries. They will need a mon language to municate with each other. English is now used by nearly a quarter of the world's population, and anywhere you go in the world, there is a good chance that you will meet someone who speaks English.大约有4亿人说英语,主要在美国、英国、加拿大、澳大利亚、新西兰和南非。

Research in aspects of verification and validation is widely spread ranging from tools employed during the digital design phase, to methods deployed for prototype verification and validation. This paper reviews the standard definitions of verification and validation in the context of engineering design and progresses to provide a coherent analysis and classification of these activities from preliminary design, to design in the digital domain and the physical verification and validation of products and processes. The scope of the paper includes aspects of system design and demonstrates how complex products are validated in the context of their lifecycle. Industrial requirements are highlighted and research trends and priorities identified.Article Outline1. Introduction2. Concluding commentsAcknowledgementsReferencesLean Production and information technology: Connection or contradiction?Original Research ArticleComputers in IndustryDesign verification and validation in product lifecycle Original Research Article CIRP Annals - Manufacturing TechnologyReuse of single-use devices is common in most countries worldwide. We provide an overview of the issue from an international perspective. In many developing and transitional countries reuse of cheap single-use devices (needles, syringes, surgical gloves) is common leading to large numbers of unsafe interventions, specifically injections and, as a consequence, infection with hepatitis B, C or HIV. There are various reasons for reuse: limited resources, insufficient knowledge of healthcare workers and the belief of patients that injection is more beneficial than oral medication. Reuse of cheap single-use devices should cease and both medical staff and the public should be informed about potential safety risks associated with injection. In developed countries, reuse of single-use items is less common but may include expensive technical products. Reuse is regulated in many countries (e.g. US, Canada, some European countries) demanding ethical and legal considerations, high standards of reprocessing and training of staff, risk assessment, management and validation of reprocessing. Well regulated reprocessing can decrease the number of single-use devices reprocessed. In developing as well as developed countries, a decision to reprocess single-use devices should only be made after a critical reflection of advantages and disadvantages.Article OutlineIntroductionMethodsResultsSurvey during IFIC congress and situation in South AmericaEuropeUSACanadaAsiaAustraliaAfricaArab countriesDiscussion and conclusionsConclusionReferencesA Markovian model for the hybrid manufacturing planning and control method ‘Double Speed Single Production Line’Original Research ArticleComputers & Industrial EngineeringMapping the structural properties of production process and product mix Original Research ArticleInternational Journal of Production EconomicsIn this paper, the hybrid production planning & control method Double Speed Single Production Line (DSSPL) is presented, modelled and its performances evaluated and compared to classical Production Planning and Control methods (PPC). DSSPL combines JIT/kanban and Material Requirement Planning for the production of different classes of products (A- and B-items based on a market or customer oriented analysis) on one single production line. By the use of a Markovian birth–death queuing model of a single-stage, two-product production system, the performance and the behavior of the basic DSSPL concept are analyzed and compared to the classical MRP concepts. Its capability to cope with limited resources is illustrated with an industrial case study where DSSPL has been implemented to solve coordination problems between a plastic molding feeder shop and the final assembly line of a micromotor producer.A multiple-vendor single-buyer integrated inventory model with a variable number of vendors Original Research ArticleComputers & Industrial EngineeringArticle Outline1.
