Well, to be honest, I am no expert on Chinese food, but perhaps I can explain some of the basic things. Because of climatic differences in different areas, different foods are grown and eaten. For example, the people in the south tend toeat more rice, while the northern people eat more noodles. Personally, I prefer hot and spicy foods, but I realize my tastes are not the same as everyone else’s. cooking is really a highly developed art in China. They even have a theory about the “five tastes”: sweet, sour, spicy, salty, and bitter. Different foods are combined, which creates some very unique flavors.I also have noticed that the way foods are chopped or sliced, the methods of cooking and even the utensils are quite different from western food. I’ve never seen a wok or a pair of chopsticks in a western restaurant. Everything about Chinese food is refined. After all, China has a 5000 year history, so cooking has had a long time to develop. Chinese?(请问你这道菜中文应该怎么讲?我告诉她这句英语不太正确,她说:"这怎么可能呢?"我说:"您不妨去问两个真正受过教育的外国人."她问了之后,回来告诉我,那句英语确实是不太正确,就因为我今天所讲的每一句话,相信各位也随时随地可以去请教专家学者,所以我希望当你认为不可能的时候,能够提出来,千万不要在心里对自己说:"这怎么可能?"否则,我讲的话就算对你再有帮助,你会发觉你白来,我也白来了.我想现在我们就言归正传,谈到该如何学英语.谈到学英语,首先我们要彻底了解每一句英文句子为什么会这样讲,这句话听起来很容易,但就拿我刚刚提到的那句英语来说,有个英文老师就曾经问我:"为什么我们可以讲What do you call this in Chinese?却不能说How do you call this in Chinese?"我告诉他,文法上常常并没有绝对的为什么.譬如:我若要问一个外国人"椅子英文要怎样讲?"我可以对这个外国人说How do you say 椅子in English?我也可以说What do you call 椅子in English?为什么我用say的时候,用how就没有错,而用call的时候,却不能用how呢?这两句正确的英语又有什么不同呢?我们当然可以从文法上分析这些句子的结构,但事实上,这只是外国人讲话习惯上和我们中国人的不同,可以说是他们说话的特别语法,我想今天我们就从"特别语法"这四个字来谈到学英语的技巧我记得在不少语言中心担任班主任的时候,曾问过几位老师:"这个东西我买了两个礼拜"英语要怎么讲?他们很自然地回答:I have bought it for two weeks.这句英语用的是现在完成式,文法上应该没有错,但英美人士根本不可能那样讲,即使真的那样讲,也是指其他的意思,而不是指"这个东西我买了两个礼拜了".为什么呢?这牵涉到中文和英文第一个很大的不同:英文有分状态性动词和动作性动词,譬如说:I bought it last night(我昨天晚上买了这个东西.什么叫做买?我把钱给别人,拿了东西,这个动作叫做买.希望各位能记住,英文字buy 永远只表示一个动作,换句话说,如果你讲I have bought it for two weeks 可能表示"买"这个动作已经持续了两个礼拜,而决不表示"这东西我买了两个礼拜了".譬如:外国人可能对你说How long have you had this?表示"这个东西你买了多久?"他们用have(有这个字来代替buy(买这个字,因为中文所谓买了两个礼拜,所表示的就是从买这个东西到今天,你拥有它两个礼拜的状态.像这样的例子,英文中并不是很多,可是我相信随随便便我也能举出好几个类似的例子;我在此用一个最简单,最常用的例子来向各位说明.那位先生,能否请您用英语讲出"我认识他."这句话?I have know him很好,请您再讲"我两年前认识他的"I knew him two years ago 好.请您再讲第三句话"我认识他两年了"I have known him for two years很好,这位先生所讲的三句英语,文法上应该都很正确,可是第二句错了.因为英文字know(认识只表示一看到他就能认得他的状态.我认识他就随时都认识他,根本没有动作,可是两年前认识他,不管是经由别人介绍或自己主动认识,都是一个动作.所以外国人若对你说"我们大学时候认识的"他们很可能会说We met in college 他们用meet 这个字来表示"认识"动作.这就是为什么外国人刚和你认识的时候常常会说Glad to meet you!表示很高兴认识你,而不说Glad to know you!很多中国学生还把这句话中的meet 当碰面,遇见,其实遇见和认识都是meet 极为常用的意思.我曾经要十个托福考过六百分以上的学生用英语讲"我很久没见到他了."他们都说I haven't seen him for a long time.我又要他们用英语讲"你多久没见到他了?"有两位同学讲不出来,其他八位同学说How long haven't you seen him?这两句英语在文法上应该也没有错,换句话说,如果你学的是传统的文法这两句话应该是你照着文法规则所能造出来的最标准的句子,但事实是第二句又错了,为什么?只因为英美人士从不这样讲,这就是我所谓外国人说话的特别语法.今天,既然,我们已经谈到英文的结构,我想对英文文法做个简单的分析.我记得当学生的时候,老师常要我们背五类动词,你把一本所谓比较正统的文法书,一翻开动词篇,一定会谈到五类动词,但不懂无类动词的人,一样可以很轻易地学会讲英语.我再举个更简单的例子,应该就没有人不懂我的意思.譬如:我说一句英语She is a nurse (她是一个护士在英文文法的分析上,nurse 是所谓的主词补语,可是这句英语和中文的结构完全一样,而当初我会讲这句中文的时候,我并不知道"护士"是主词补语,那么为什么我一定要知道nurse是"主词补语",才能学会讲这句英语呢?当然更没有必要,所以我在教学生教到She is a nurse这句话的时候,决不会向学生分析所谓的主词补语.从头到尾我想告诉每一位听众的只是一个最简单的概念,那就是:数学有人考100分,也有人考零分;但我在三军总医院的精神病科曾看过一位精神病大夫在治疗一个白痴,他问这个白痴任何一个问题,这个白痴都摇摇头表示不知道,可是这个白痴最后被问得不耐烦了,他突然拉着妈妈的手用台语说:"妈,我们快回去,我肚子饿死了."我才发现那个白痴会讲话.对你来说,这个或许没什么,但你要了解世界各国的语言结构几乎都不一样,一个中国人讲:"我在新东阳上班."一个美国人讲话的句型结构却是"我上班在新东阳."你有没有想过,那个白痴为什么不讲"我饿肚子(台语"而讲"我肚子饿(台语"因为他懂得使用这个语言的结构.这只是要告诉各位,没有一位专家学者可以否认,语言的结构已容易到了任何人都能接受的地步,可是今天如果我们把五类动词,主词补语等等外国文法学家研究他们本国语文结构的一些名词术语都加进了这个简单的结构,而这些名词术语对我们学英文却不见得都有帮助,但却把这个简单的结构变得很复杂了,你想一个白痴可能懂得五类动词吗?当然不可能.这样,英文文法就变得像数学一样,是一门学问,当然有人学得好,也有人学不好.可是,如果我们能够把这些不需要的东西去掉,这把对我们学英文有帮助的规则保留,重新加以整理,成了一套所谓的最新文法,那你会发觉英文文法一开始就变得简单容易学,如果你能够再花点时间去了解以下我刚刚所说的特别语法,那你会发觉英文一开始不但变得简单容易学,而且你所造的句子都是最正确的句子.如果今天在座有您的弟妹子女正在念书的,不管是国高中或大专,只要您让他用这套方法学,因为简单,他学得有兴趣,而且他所造的句子才是真正正确的句子,我再次强调所谓"真正正确的句子",有个同学曾问我说,如果我要用英语讲:"我爸爸喜欢玩."我能否说"He likes to play"我告诉他外国人通常不会这样讲,但请问各位这句话在文法上有任何错误吗?问题是当您这样讲的时候,外国人不见得懂您的意思.以上只是我对文法上的一点概念,先提供给大家;接下来,我们来谈第二点,为什么一开始一定要先了解每一句英文句子为什么会这样讲,我们用几句最简单的英语来说明,譬如我说:"How did you get here?(你怎么来这里的?Why did you marry him?(你为什么会嫁给他?Where did you go ?(你刚刚去哪里?"你可以看到这三句英语代表三个不同的意思,但第一个字How,Why,Where都是疑问词,再来是过去式助动词did,再来是主词,最后是go ,get,marry等原形动词,三个不同的意思,用的却是同样一个句型.这只是告诉您,如果您能够了解一个句子为什么会这样讲,您就可以很轻易地造出其它类似的句子.不过我刚刚业已说明,单靠传统的文法,您不可能彻底了解每个句子为什么会这样讲,只有经由最新文法和特别语法,您才可以彻底了解每个句子为什么会这样讲.但这只是表示您可以轻易地造出其他类似的句子,并不表示您一定能很流利地讲出这些句子,相信没有人会否认,要能流利地讲出英语,只有经过一个过程,那就是"练习".可是我们来看一下,目前国内一般学生练习英语采用的方法,以及正确练习英语的方法.所谓五,六十人以上的大班制没有什么效,已是公认的事实,这点我们就不提了,但一,二十人的小班,效果通常也很有限,为什么呢?我们留在最后来谈,现在我们只要先了解这也是人人可见的事实就行了.第三种所谓最有效的方法就是干脆出国留学去.记得一年多前,我在台中市立文化中心演讲的时候,突然有个听众用英语问了我一些问题,他并且告诉我,他在美国,加拿大待了好几年,可是五分钟之后,他又改用国语和我聊天,他用国语讲的第一句话是:"对不起,扶先生,我讲的英语没有你流利,因为我没有你这种说英语的环境,听说你刚回台湾没多久."我很诚实地回答他说:"不错,我是刚回台湾没多久,那是我唯一离开台湾的时间,可是我是到金门去服了将近两年的兵役,难道你认为在金门才有讲英语的机会?"我并不是告诉大家环境并不重要,我是要您先看清楚到底什么叫"环境",英文中有句话说:Practice makes perfect 意思就是熟能生巧,套一句最白的中国话,就是告诉你,有环境就能学好.但是我更希望您能了解,今天我对您演讲的第一个原因是一条您很难接受但却绝对真实的故事:我高二以前,只要考英文,如果没有选择题,我考零分是很平常的事,可是高三的时候,有一次学校举办大专模拟考试,考了100题,很多都是课外的,同学中程度很高的,顶多考九十几,最起码错个好几题,二十分钟我就交卷,结果我考99分,那唯一被扣的一分,还是老师一时疏忽改错了.您可以说我是一个例外,可是我曾认识几个摩门教的传教士,他们在美国只接受了三个月的中文训练,第一天到台湾,竟然就敢上台用中文讲道.最后一件事是在座各位没有人敢否认的,因为那是有历史性的证据,就是美军在第二次世界大战时训练特务工作人员到德国,要一些士兵在两个月之内把基本的德语学的和德国人差不多,而士兵真的都做到了,当然原因之一是美国情报局提供他们一套很好的课程,但从Psycho-linguistics(心理语言学来看,最重要的原因还是那是军事命令,如果学不好,就把他们给枪毙,有谁可能学不好.可见,大家都能确定自己一定学得会,那么底下的演讲也才有它的价值存在.相信大家都很清楚,我和他们还有各位都是没有环境的一群,既然没有环境,我想给大家一个很诚恳的建议,我建议您千万不要去死背书,有些人认为学英语就是要多背多看,但是背的效果到底如何?让我们来看一下,那位小姐,我讲一句英语,您替我翻成中文好不好?我要讲那句话是Do fishing?(你平常钓不钓鱼?你可以把这句话背个几百遍,可是你连听都听不懂它的意思,又怎么可能用它来讲话呢?不过,如果我把这个句子的结构向您解释清楚,您只要在和别人聊天时用上几次,譬如你对人家说Do you ever go on outings?(你平常有没有郊游的习惯?Do you ever watch TV?(你平常看不看电视?等等,这句话就自然而然的变成你自己的语言了,又为什么要去背呢?我曾要我班上的几个同学用英语讲出"你们昨天晚上玩得好不好?"他们为个人都会说Did you have a good time last night?我又要他们用英语讲:"他喜欢玩."他们却讲不出来,有一位同学说:"这也不能怪我们,第一句我们背过,第二句我们根本就没背过."既然"背"行不通,我提供给大家一套方法,这套方法,开始时您或许会觉得很抽象,可是当您仔细听完之后,您会发现他对您在学习"听,讲,读,写"的过程中,一定会有很大的帮助.最好的方法是让别人来刺激你的大脑,让你自己造出一切你真正想讲,真正想学的句子,因为如果所有的句子都是你自己造的,印象一定很深,很不容易忘,那么再练习几遍,岂不就滚瓜烂熟了.有些人可能会说,会造句我还来听你演讲做什么?可是我们先来清楚,到底什么叫"英文造句"?一个普通高中毕业生,就懂得英文中除了现在式,假设语气的完成式,现在完成进行时,假设语气,被动语态,不定词,现在分词片语,过去分词片语等等,就很少有其他的东西了,整个英文的结构就以这十来个型式为主体,你再怎么变化,顶多变化成假设语气的现在式,假设语气的过去式,假设语气的完成式,过去完成式,过去完成进行式等等,顶多把这十来种型式变成几十种型式,相信也没有专家学者会否认,如果你把这几十种型式完全了解,融会贯通,你几乎可以造出所有的英文句子,因为所有的英文句子都是从这几十种型式演变而来,让人惊讶的是,这几十种型式,一个真正会教英文的老师,在三,五个小时之内,就可以把学生教会,可是我敢说,中国大专毕业生学了十年英文,能够把这几十种型式搞通的,绝对占不到10%,我们请那边那位小姐用英语讲出"你最近在做些什么?"好不好?What do you do recently? 很好,不过这句话应该是What have you been doing lately?或recently?用的是现在完成进行式,而不是现在式,这句话只是把英文中一个很平常的时态"现在完成进行式"一成不变的套上去,可是如果我问十个大专毕业生,通常只有一个会讲. 不过各位想想,如果英文中就只有这几十种型式,如果你能够在学今天所要学的句子之前,先花个二十分钟的时间了解一下这些句子的最新文法和特别语法,那你就可以很轻易的造出其它类似的句子;这时如果有位老师或录音带对你说:Ask me what I do(问我我从事什么工作.你就回答说:What do you do? (你从事什么工作?可能他们又对你讲第二句话说:Tell me you are a chef (告诉我你是一个厨师或大厨你就回答说:I'm a chef .(我是一个厨师或大厨.可能他们又对你说:Ask me if I like my job (问我是否喜欢我的工作?你就问说:Do you like your job? (你喜欢你的工作吗?这样你讲出来的话正好是What do you do? I'm a chef .Do you like your job?正好是一段对话,这段对话可以无限的延长,如果你担心自己造的句子有错,还可以一边把自己的声音录起来,等下参考答案,在这种情况下,所有句子都是你自己造的,又很正确,当然很不容易忘,那么再练习几遍,岂不就滚瓜烂熟了.最重要的是刚刚我只是从外在的环境向每一个人说明学习任何一件事物不外两个过程:一个是资料的整理,一个是资料的吸收.在资料的整理上,就因为我们没有这个环境,所以一定要求简单明白.什么叫"简单明白"?我们举个例子来说:如果要一个学生去背五百个句型,就算他每天花二个小时,背了两个月,应该还是背不起来,因为他们背到第三百句,前面的可能又忘了,可是如果让他花同样的时间去熟悉运用我刚刚所说的那几十种型式,三个礼拜的时间,他就可以搞得很熟了,毕竟记几十种型式,比背起五百个句型要容易多了,可是你把这几十种型式搞熟,对你在英文听,讲,读,写的发挥上,比背起五百句型还要有效,这就是为什么在资料的整理上,我们要求简单明白,就这几十种型式.而在资料的吸收过程中,更因为我们没有这个环境,所以一定要采用自己造句的方法才能加深印象.什么叫自己造句才能加深印象?我们也举个教学实证来说明,如果要教学生一篇英文短文,一个有经验的老师可能先带他们念几遍,发音没问题了,再解释单字,没问题了,再分析文法,最后替他们翻译,可是才刚教完,要学生用这篇文章中的句子来讲话,通常大家都做不到,一个礼拜之后,学生再看到这篇文章根本就没有什么印象,相信许多人都有这样的上课经验.可是如果我换一个方法来教呢?如果我连文章都不发给学生,譬如一篇文章刚好有60个句子,你知道英文句子一定有很多都是同样的句型,你把同样的句子放在一起,可能总共有九个句型的结构,不懂的单字他可以问我,可是我不教他们任何一句英文句子,我要他们自己造出这篇文章中的所有句子,譬如我如果告诉学生"你多久没见到他了?"这句话的句型结构他们就一定会讲"你多久没写信给你妈妈了?""你多久没去露营了?"等类似的句子.这样,我要学生自己造出这篇文章的所有句子,所以一上完课,他们早就会用这些句子讲话了,在一个礼拜之后,他们第一次看到这篇文章,会觉得很容易,因为这篇文章中的每一个句子当初都是他们自己造的,自己写的文章怎么可能难呢?在国内学英文有个奇特的现象,那就是许多学生连英语都不会讲.就在上英语作文课,试想,如果一个外国人连国语都不会讲,你有办法教他中文作文吗?你可能用英语教国文作文吗?但国内大部分的学生却真的用国语在学英文作文,而在语言学上,大家都很清楚,一定是先学语言才谈写文章或阅读,最起码也要同时学会,就像这套教学方法一样,学完一篇文章马上就可以用文章中的句子来讲话,这才叫学英语,可见,从外在的环境,这的确是一套最迅速,最有效的方法.可是这还不够,因为谈到学英语,除了外在的环境,一定还要谈到语言本身内在的结构,任何一个语言,再文明,再落后,都只包含了两个元素,一个就是我刚刚谈到的文法结构或叫句型结构,另一个就是单字和片语,你可以把它们合起来陈之为"字汇",语言中除了句型和字汇,你绝对找不到第三个元素,有些人可能说还有发音,不过发音只是单字的一部分,如果一个字你连念都念不出来,你怎么能算认识这个字.现在就让我们来看看中国学生学习句型和字汇的方法,以及正确学习句型和字汇的方法.中国学生常常把文法书读得滚瓜烂熟,可是真正要讲英语的时候,却不知道要用哪个时态,句型更是背了又忘,忘了又背,成了所谓背背忘忘的死背,这个我们就不提了.而学习字汇呢?记得有一次,我在一家语言中心教几个英文系的学生,我用了一个英文字extension set,意思是"电话分机",刚好他们都不认识,我就教了他们几个类似的字,譬如:extension cord(引线extension school(补校,cordless phone(无线电话机等,下课之后,他们就开始背单字,extensionset(电话分机 extension set(电话分机,我告诉他们,如果你用这种方式背单字,即使背了几千个,甚至上万个,如果你连句型都不会,这些字你根本用不出来,一样是两,三个礼拜不用,就忘得差不多了.在这种情况下,中国学生学习句型和字汇采用的方法都是背背忘忘,而语言中就这两个元素,当然这个语言他学得很痛苦,很困难了.可是如果我们换一个方法呢?也就是第一天老师只教你一个句型,马上就给你机会一直不停地把这个句型用于实际的会话中,第二天他教你第二个句型,就给你机会一直不停地把这两个句型混合起来用,第三天给你机会一直不停地把三个句型混合。

一、倡导积极肯定的评价方式与激励信心相结合从积极的角度肯定、鼓励学生提高学习信心,这也是教师课堂教学多样结合,双向互动不容忽视的问题。
如果在小学生的成长过程中你能用正面思考的方式对待他,他将来也会以正面的方式对待别人。
相反的,如果他从小接触的就是恶意的、否定的言词,他将来也会以“负面思考”看这个世界。
这说明教师要多用肯定的、良性的语气和方式面对学生,更能打动人心,促进交流。

在课堂教学训练时,小学生难免出现答非所问,牛头对马嘴,会感觉受到别人的嘲笑而伤了自尊心,内心产生自责甚至恐惧。
教师不应跟着哄笑,而应信心十足地望着这个学生的眼睛,快快乐乐地对他说:“你积极参加训练,这种精神很好。
下一回一定能说得更好!”唤醒自卑的学生,让他们发现自己。
自卑的学生往往喜欢一个人独处,沉默寡言,陷入顾影自怜、自我封闭的境地,他们很容易把问题片面化,只看到坏的一面,悲观、失望,这时候教师要以鼓励的语言开导他,安慰他,让他看到问题的另一面是最佳方法。
一个学习成绩一直很差的学生自卑感很重,平时就极少说话,课堂上更不主动发言。

我主编这套《双向征服英语》丛书也是基于我自己英语学习的亲身实践。
2007年哈佛教育学院学术委员会主席霍华德?嘉德纳教授向我发来邀请,邀请我访问哈佛并讲学,他要在哈佛教育学院为我创立的“有机主义教育观”专门组织一个专家座谈会。
当时离去哈佛仅有六个月的英语学习时间。
我在英语基础本身就很差,大学毕业十多年不用英语更是忘得所剩无几的情况下,用自己创立的“英语双向学习法”,六个月时间突破英语,到哈佛用英语讲学和学术讨论。
故本书副名为“我六月学成去哈佛”。
从哈佛讲学回来后,我一边从事学术研究,一边继续按“英语双向学习法”学习英语,一年后,我能够直接用英语进行教育学和生物学两门学科的研究。
((双向英语学习法))
从20世纪80年代至今,在英语学习过程中,由于人们缺乏语言环境的支持,传统的教学方法如双向式英语、AAA英语、疯狂英语、逆向英语等在教学实践中效果不佳,相当一部分人在学完10余年英语课程后,仍然不能运用自如。
在这种情况下,人们对英语的学习方法的选择出现了困惑,使学习效果受到了一定的限制。
为此,本文分析比较了以上四种英语学习法,提出了一些建议,希望对广大英语教师和英语学习者有所帮助。
1 几种方法的比较
(1)双向式英语。
双向式英语(double direction English)在20世纪80年代较为流行,它针对华人使用的英语教材较少,内容较为陈旧和不实用等特点,多以日常用语和商业用语作为教材的主要内容,同时也有配套的语音磁带,在那时的国内,这样的教材较少,不甚实用。
(2)AAA 英语。
AAA英语始于1994年,也称为“正向迁移”,它是“Assurance(安全感)Achievement(安全感),以及Acceleration(加速度)”的缩写。
正向迁移是指一个人,尤其是成人,在学习或接受一个新东西时,总要用自己已有的观念和知识来分析、评价这个东西。
其表现以“先人结构”作基础,而未消化吸收“后人”的成分,这样就可能造成语言上的错误和文化的误解。
但是只要学习者有意识地将两种语言和两种文化进行对比和对照,就能够发现在语言的背后有着引起误会和冲突的文化因素,也能够自觉地改变和调整自己固有的框框。
进而利用母语作为支持力量,以此作为一种优势,不仅不排斥它,而且大胆地利用它,就能造成正向迁移。
Assurance是指教材在内容单词和编排上比较接近中国学习者的心理,使其一接触教材就有一种安全感。
Achievement是指教材是按场景来编排,每学一个单元,熟悉一个场景,对这个场景所有的对话内容都了如指掌,学后就能使用,便产生一种成就感。
Acceleration是指由于教材通俗易懂,语法讲解详细,利用母语作支持,这就便于达到速成的效果。
所以说,AAA 英语一般的教材,从理论上讲头头是道,但实际操作起来却难以找到那种感觉,怎么看都觉得它只不过是一种英汉对照得比较古板的教材而已。
(3) 疯狂英语。
疯狂英语(Crazy English)流行于20世纪90年代。
在阐述了“一个典型的中国人学习英语的故事”以及“英语学习者的痛苦心声”之后,它提出了自己的解决方案。
它的学习理念是,首先要有以口语和句子为中心的学习方法(in“三最口腔训练”,“一口气训练”)。
提倡疯狂的学习精神是值得称道的,其实质就是学习者必须进入某种状态,即自我营造一个学习环境。
至于以句子为中心,其用意有两个方面:一方面是将语言的形式和材料进行记忆。
这样在记忆语言的形式时,就有了固定的参照内容,从而易于记住语言的形式。
另一个方面,这些句子表达了某些典型或思想,记住它就记住了语言的内容。
疯狂英语受到了很多人的欢迎。
它激发了中国人学习英语的热情,指出了许多学习者的误区,提出了很多的好的学习理念。
但是,它提出的解决方案,依然存在某些局限。
其一,尽管很多人都承认“疯狂”的重要性,但由于性格、环境等诸多问题的限制,要长久地保持“疯狂”的状态是十分困难的。
这一要求的本质,是希望依靠激情来消除人的惰性,或者改变某些人的性格。
其二、尽管它搜集了许多典型的流行甸子,但这些甸子之间缺乏有机的联系。
要把这么多缺乏联系的、缺乏现实实用环境的句子记住,是困难的。
尽管它也提出了意境想像的概念,但这种意境想像的随意性大,难以稳定、清晰和持久。
就背诵大量单句而言,即使是有快速记忆法的支持,也很困难。
因此,许多人在坚持了一段不长的时间后,就放弃了。
其三,它提出的一些关于英语学习的理念,仍有待于众多学习者的检验。
例如,关于不用大块时间学习英语的说法。
学习者必须意识到自己在性格、环境、工作性质、学习目的和时间上的诸多限制,理性地运用这些学习理念和方法。
(4)逆向英语学习法(Adverse English)。
钟道隆教授的学习方法,指出英语学习成效不大的原因有三点:一是基础不扎实,二是急于求成,三是得不到指导和鼓励。
对于这些原因,逆向法一一逆之。
对于基础不扎实的问题,逆向法以录音带上的声音为学习内容(不用课本,也不用教师一课一课地进行讲解),以录音机和各种词典为老师,进行“听、写、说、背、想”,由自己将录音机上的内容写下来,完全消化。
录音带上的内容可以是以前学过的课本,也可以是自己勉强可以听懂的语言内容。
对于急于求成的问题,逆向法要逆凭空的强化和提高,强调先扎扎实实地学好基础英语,主张树立长期刻苦努力学习的思想,同时特别强调在具体实施上要争分夺秒,一个词一个词,一句话一句话地学。
对于得不到指导和鼓励的问题,逆向法认为自己可以使学习英语成为一种兴趣,一种享受。
具体地说,是指在听录音的过程中,会遇到不懂的地方,将这些不懂的地方记下来,经过努力后听懂了,所取得的成绩明明白白地记在纸上,因此会很有成就感,由此产生兴趣而得到享受。
应该说,逆向法抓住了中国学生学习英语的通病,这就是基本功不扎实,基础不扎实。
语言的形式和内容知道一些,有时甚至是知道很多,但两者都是迷迷糊糊的,也未能进行有效的结合。
逆向法提出的解决方案,就是回溯到学习者力所能及的地方,通过心无旁骛地“听、写、说、背、想”,将听到的语言内容自己写出来,使学习者对语言内容及语言形式达到了深刻的理解。
逆向法没有否定传统的教学方式,只是提出一些改进的方法。
这种听录音带拾遗补漏的方法,能够极大地强化学习者的基础。
更重要的是,它比较符合中国的国情,可操作性强。
2 讨论
以上四种方法应该说不是相互排斥的,在学习过程中多了解这样一些方法,对自己的英语学习是有益的,但是,笔者认为这些方法在学习英语过程中,也是程度不同的有不足之处。
如逆向法,一是它过于强调脱离文字材料,只凭录音带一点一点地“抠出”录音带上的文字内容。
也许这种需要“抠”的地方正是学习者模糊的地方,但对于初学者来说,很多东西是他没有接触过的。
没有接触过就谈不上模糊,无论怎么抠都是抠不出的。
反复抠的真正目的,就是把它记住。
这种做法从效率上讲得不偿失。
实在抠不出就应该看文字材料。
将这些抠不出的文字材料记录下来,模仿其正确读音并进行背诵,应该是兼顾了效率和学习效果的更好的方法。
二是逆向法是一种精工细作的方法,它认为自己同时操练听力、词汇、句型、口语等多个方面,但从另一个角度看,却分散了学习者的锐气,使他们难以很快地形成关于英语的框架概念,难以在某一分支(例如词汇和阅读)取得迅猛的进展。
所以对于初学者和急于参加考试的人而言,修习它,需要有很好的耐心,需要非常充足的时间。
3 建议
目前,国内许多新兴英语学习方法都致力于营造“人工”的语言环境,都希望通过各种方式记忆所学内容。
逆向英语中“主要课文熟练到能背诵的地步”,“对所学的内容熟练到了‘化’的地步”的要求,疯狂英语中“脱口而出”的要求,可以说和图忆的背诵理论是吻合的。
由于图忆提供了具体的、可操作性强的大规模记忆方法,所以图忆要求学习者完全背诵。
对于超出学习者记忆能力的课文,图忆提供了快速复述的方法。
特别指出的是,从本质上说,图忆只是一种记忆方法,不是系统的英语学习解决方案。
但是它可以同其它学习方法和理念兼容,向其提供技术支持。
在此基础上,还需要精心选择、组织和编排教学材料,这样才能够提高学习效率。
但是就每个人而言,各有自己的实际情况和特点,唯有打好基础,肯吃苦,发掘兴趣点,善于通过对各种学习方法分析,启发自己,牢记语言学习的特点是记忆与运用,这应是不可缺少的观念。
