Ⅰ. 阅读理解AThe researchers’ findings will hardly come as a surprise to those who study airpollution. Previous research has shown that outdoor air pollution causes more than 3 million deaths annually and suggested that the figure could double by 2050. Another study suggested that air pollution causes 1. 6 million premature(早产儿)deaths annually in China alone. Policy makers across the globe have responded toair pollution with a number of new regulations, many of which focus on limitingpollution from coal. China stopped approval of new coal mines for three years at the endof 2015 and has issued strict requirements along the lines of those in the U. S. for new coal-fired power plants. Cities in China have also developed warning systems to getcars off the streets and limit industrial pollution during periods of intense smog. Buteven these policies may still be met by increases in mortality (死亡率)as agingpopulations are increasingly suffering from the problems associated with pollution. “China might move in the right direction in terms of air pollution, but it’s going tohave to continue revising policies just like the U. S. and Europe, ” said Dan Greenbaum, president of Health Effects Institute, which supported the research. And, while premature deaths due to pollution in the U. S. and Europe have declined in recent decades, cities in the West have still taken steps to reduce pollution. Air pollution kills more than 200, 000 in Europe and nearly 80, 000 in the U. S. each year, according to the research. The benefits of addressing air pollution extend beyond the people who experience the health effects of poor air directly. “One of the unique things about air pollution is that you can’t run, you can’t hide from it, ” said study resear cher Michael Brauer, a professor at the University of British Columbia, in a video accompanying the presentation. “But we know that if you improve air quality, everybody benefits from it. ” 1. What has changed under the new policies in China? A. No more new coal mines are allowed until 2018. B. Cars can’t be driven in big cities. C. Less aging population are dying from air pollution. D. Factories polluting air are forbidden to work. 2. What should China do according to Dan Greenbaum? A. Change the ways of dealing with air pollution. B. Seek for help from the U. S. and Europe. C. Release more strict policies. D. Adjust the policies constantly. 3. What can be inferred about the U. S. and Europe from the last but one paragraph? A. They have settled their environmental problems. B. They have cut their premature deaths to the lowest. C. Measures are still being taken to deal with pollution. D. Population killed by air pollution have increased. The National Park Service operates shuttle boats that take visitors to Isle Royale. The boats leave from two Michigan ports. A boat trip to Isle Royale takes three to five hours. Waters are often extremely rough.Modern copper mining began in the late 1800s, resulting in large areas of the island being burned. This led to settlement development. Soon, Isle Royale became popular for summer homes. It became a national park on April 3, 1940. The sunken wooden ship called The America is one of the most popular dive sites. The America carried passengers, mail, and supplies to many towns along the shores of Lake Superior. It first launched in 1898, and was used until 1928, when it was damaged. It sank to the bottom of the lake soon after.Visitors to Isle Royale share the trails with a well-studied population of wolves. Scientists believe wolves walked there during a freeze of the lake sometime in the 1940s. Researchers closely record their population numbers. Much of the research takes place during the winter, when the trees are bare. The researchers fly over the island to observe the animals from above.Animal research is the only winter activity going on at Isle Royale. The national park is closed each year in late October because of the terrible weather conditions and reopens in spring time the next year. But for the other months of the year, Isle Royale offers green forests, and clear blue waters. Its excellent scenery and unusual location keep visitors returning year after year.4. What is mainly talked about in the first paragraph?A. The access to the island.B. The island’s location.C. The little panda went without a name for his first hundred days in observance of a Chinese custom. The zoo officials said he probably wouldn’t be making his public debut until some time in December. Panda fans celebrated Tai Shan’s day at a z oo ceremony featuring performances by Chinese dance troops and martial artists.Tai Shan usually spends the morning with his mother, Mei Xiang. His handlers are slowly introducing him to the exhibit where he’s expected to go on public view within the next couple of months. I was busy preparing the traditional Thanksgiving turkey when the doorbell rang. I opened the front door and saw two small children in rags huddling together on the top step.“Any old papers, lady?” asked one of them.I was busy. I wanted to say “no” until I looked down at their feet. They were wearing thin little sandals(凉鞋), wet with heavy snow.“Come in and I'll make you a cup of hot cocoa.”They walked over and sat down at the table. Their wet sandals left marks upon the floor. I served them cocoa and bread to fight against the cold outside. Then I went back to the kitchen and started cooking. The silence in the front room struck me. I looked in. The girl held the empty cup in her hands, looking at it. The boy asked in a flat voice, “Lady, are you rich?”“Am I rich? Pity, no!”I looked at my worn-out slipcovers(椅套). The girl put her cup back in its saucer(茶碟)carefully and said, “Your cups match your saucers.” Th ey left after that, holding their papers against the wind. They had reminded me that I had so much for which to be grateful.Plain blue china cups and saucers were only worth five pence. But they matched.I tasted the potatoes and stirred(搅动)the meat soup. Potatoes and brown meat soup, a roof over our heads, my man with a regular job, these matched, too.I moved the chairs back from the fire and cleaned the living room. The muddy marks of little sandals were still wet upon my floor. Let them be for a while, I thought, just in case I should begin to forget how rich I am.1.Which of the following would be the best title for the text?A.Lady, are you rich? A.show that she was a kind-hearted ladyB.remind her that she shouldn't forget how rich she wasC.leave room for readers to think about what being rich isD.prove that she had understood what meant being richBWhat do you, the trees, and a bird have in common? 5 All living things must have water to survive, whether they get it from a water fountain, a rain cloud, or a little bottle attached to the side of a bird cage.6 Water makes up more than half of your body weight and a person can't survive for more than a few days without it. Why? Your body has lots of important jobs and it needs water to do many of them. For instance, your blood, which contains a lot of water, carries oxygen to all the cells of your body. Without oxygen, those tiny cells would die and your body would stop working.Water is also in lymph, a fluid(流体) that is part of your immune system(免疫系统), which helps you fight off illness. 7 Water is needed for digestive juices, urine, and poop. And you can bet that water makes up most of sweat. In addition to being an important part of the fluids in your body, each cell depends on water to function normally.8 Any fluid you drink will contain water, but water and milk are the best choices. Lots of foods contain water, too. 9 You could probably tell that if you've ever bitten into a peach or pear and felt the juices dripping down your chin! Vegetables, too, contain a lot of water — think of biting into a fat tomato from the garden.A.You need water to digest your food and get rid of waste, too.B.You all need water.C.Without water, your body would stop working properly.D.How much is enough?E.Your body doesn't get water only from drinking water.F.When you drink is also important.G.Fruit contains quite a bit of water.第四部分:短文改错I was at a party a few weeks before which was more excited than I had expected it to be. We were all having a good time as suddenly a fire broke in the kitchen. Someone shouted “Fire!Don't panic!” So of course people started to panic. There is smoke everywhere and we were all trying to find the way to out when someone found fire extinguisher(灭火器). It was my friend Charles. He put the fire out and was about to coming out of the house when the firefighters arrived. The fire chief praise my friend and told us that we all had a luckily escape. 第五部分:书面表达目前,许多学校对学生采取封闭管理,学生对此看法不一。
