Internship ReportI.PurposeThere is no doubt that every college student needs to have an internship, which is a great integral part of our school life. As for me, a junior student in Zhengzhou University of Light I ndustry, it‟s high time for me to had field work. According to the arrangement of school, on twenty fourth, March, I was sent to Zhengzhou Professional college of Light Industry for one month. As my dream is being a teacher in the future, and I know this internship is important for me, so I had worked assiduously during this period. As time flies, the short but memorable internship has ended. In retrospect, I had experienced so much and also learned a lot. Therefore it‟s really meaningful to me.As a student, I do think the internship is a great chance for us to improve ourselves. It‟s true that we have taken in a lot of kno wledge, but we cannot transform our knowledge into skills which is more important to us in practical work. How can we acquire enough experience and skills? The answer is taking some part-time jobs and doing more practical exercises. With the internship, we can learn how to put our knowledge into practice and we can get much experience, which is advantageous to our future work. In addition, with the internship, we can have a better command of knowledge that we had learned in class, and it‟s good for our future studies. Except that, we also become more mature not only in psychology, but also in spirit. When we are in school, our teachers, parents and friends always offer us help without hesitation and they all want to take good care of us, so we do not involve ourselves in the society too much. We just livein a good condition without worry or anxiety, not to say enduring hardship. Consequently, we do need to have some opportunities to meet a few challenges in the society so that we can integrate ourselves into the society better.As is known to us all, the number of college students has increased drastically during the past several years. Accordingly the opportunities of finding a satisfying job for students are less than before. As experience has always been valued by most of the companies, we must promote our abilities and accumulate more experience in order to be more competent in future work. In order to offer the chance for students to learn more knowledge which cannot acquire in class and help them to adapt to the society better, our teachers have organized this filed work. At the same time, for improving students‟ capacities of practical work and broadening our horizon so that we can know our strengths and weaknesses, the teachers try their best to find some better places for us to do the work.In the course of three-year study in Zhengzhou University of Light Industry, I‟m always searching for knowledge with strong passion which I had held in my senior high school, not only having a good command of knowledge but also reading a great amount of English articles in my spare time. The efforts of studying I have made enable me to be confident enough to face the challenge.Ⅱ.ContentThe first day, I went to the target school following my teacher and had a meeting there. Mr. Feng turned out to be my tutor who told me that I was going to teach the freshmen. The first week, what I need to do was sitting in classroom, listening carefully to my tutor and paying attention to the method of teaching. From the class, I hadlearned that a good teacher should have enough interaction with students in class and something others, and after class he gave me a lot of suggestions about how to be a qualified teacher.The next week, I was asked to give a lecture to the students, since this was the first time for me to stand on the podium as a teacher, without any doubt, I was so anxious that even can‟t speak in front of so many students. However, I became confident later because of Feng‟s encouragement---…just believe in yourself, and you can do it‟and I began the class with a brief introduction of myself, then I gav e them the topic “parents‟love”for discussing in ten minutes. I took comfort from their active participation in class. There were a great many volunteers who wanted to share their opinions, and I calmed down gradually.After class, Mr. Feng told me that the class I gave was excellent as a whole, but there were also some flaws. Fo r example, I didn‟t have enough eye-contact with students and lack of interaction with them. Besides, I needed to raise my voice. It took him a lot of time to instruct me and inform me of my weaknesses in class, and I listened to him carefully. At the same time, I began to reflect my performance from the beginning to end in class. I found that what he said was absolutely correct, and there were a lot of problems. After that, I took action immediately to overcome those problems. I began to do more and more exercises in my room and tried to make progress as much as possible.On Friday morning, I had my second chance to give a class to those freshmen, and this time, I was in a better condition than last time for I was not so stressed and nervous like before. With a good plan, I had a good control of my time in class. Besides, I really had agood collaboration with those students, and their active participation leaded in a fantastic class. Gradually, I began to be relaxed and not nervous at all. After class, Feng told me that my voice was still not so high, and those students who sat at the back of the class could not hear me clearly. It would be better if I could speak more aloud.Because I clearly realized my weakness, in the third class, I paid special attent ion to my voice, just as an old saying goes “practice makes perfect”, this time I had done a good job. The moment I heard Feng‟s comment—“perfect”, the feeling of pride and delight in my heart was beyond description. Totally, I gave them four classes, and I really had gained a lot from the four classes I had given. The experience of teaching enables me to realize teacher‟s great responsibilities and how laborious teachers are.Ⅲ. GainsFirst and Foremost, during the internship, I have learned that interests are of extremely essential to students. A good teacher can arouse students‟ interests to a largest extent. Also, a good teacher is capable of teaching knowledge in a relatively relaxed atmosphere. The central parts of class are students, so it would be better if teachers can find effective means to keep students active and positive in class. In addition, a qualified teacher must be patient enough to help students to overcome their shortcomings. It could be better if teachers give students more praises and encouragements, because they might be confident and courageous if they got positive comments. Except that, as a teacher, one should realize the importance of making good preparations before work, not just in teaching but in all of our work. No matter what we do, good preparations are necessary to us all. During the internship, I have adeeper understanding of the profession of teacher. A qualified teacher possesses the lofty spirit and the quality of sacrifice, and they always try their best to give what they have learned to students for training more talents to our country. How venerable they are!From the internship, I have learn ed a lot of things which I can‟t acquire from the books. For example, I have learned how to keep good relationship with others, and how to collaborate with others and so on. Also, it enables me to be conscious of my weaknesses, and w hat‟s more important is that it give s me the chance to promote myself in all kinds of aspects, and it‟s really the mos t meaningful activity in my lif e. In future, when facing challenges, I won‟t be timid or coward anymore and I will face up to them bravely and never give up. This internship also exerts good effect on choosing our future job. With the internship, we can have a better understanding of the profession, and it‟s good for us to determine what we will do in the future. By doing the job for a short time, we can find what we really want to do, thus we can make a definite goal, which is very significant to us.Just as people say that school is an ideal place, indeed, there are great differences between school and workplace, between study and work, and between students and staff. After graduation, we need to adjust several aspects of ourselves to fit into the society. Maybe some of us are always complaining that so many companies do not employ fresh graduates, while I don‟t think that this kind of deeds is proper. What we need to do is refl ecting ourselves. Why they don‟t want to employ fresh graduates? Just imagine that if you were the manager, will you employ one who has little work experience? If you cannot bring benefits to his company, why should the manager employ you?It is the internship that provides us with the opportunities to be involved in workplace so that we can get experience which is of great necessity for our future work. And we all know that many companies pay much more att ention to employee‟s work experience all the time. So having enough experience is a great advantage for us when we are finding jobs.Ⅳ.Problems and solutionsAs far as I am concerned, I am clearly aware of lots of my shortcomings. T he first one is lacking experience so that I can‟t separate what‟s important from what‟s accessory. As for this problem, I will take some part-time jobs in my spare time, and pay more attention to the accumulation of experience. Then, I‟m not so positive about my work, when there is no task, I do not want to do extra work and always want to be relaxed. From now on, I will ask for more work voluntarily or do some extra work to promote myself. Another problem is that I‟m not sophisticated enough to keep good relationship with others. As students, we just communicate with classmates, teachers and parents, but after graduation, we have to deal with more complicated relationships between the leaders, colleagues or clients but no matter whom we communicate with, we need to be careful enough and handle them properly.The third problem is that my pronunciation is poor, and the same word may have different pronunciations when it is used in different contexts. While sometimes I fail to choose the correct pronunciation, and that is really an embarrassing thing. In order to solve the problem, from now on, when I find a new word, I will consult dictionary at once. Besides, I will listen to more English songs to improve my pronunciations. Where there is a will, there is a way. I truly believethat if I work hard, I will make progress.All in all, this internship is meaningful to me. From it I learned how to keep good relationship with others and how to be a qualified teacher. I‟ll remember this internship, because it inspires me to forge ahead. In addition, it enables me to be more mature and experienced. After graduation, I would like to be a teacher and I would never give up my dream.。
