You should say:what it iswhen it is celebratedhow it is celebratedand explain how you feel about this traditional festival. We have many traditional festivals in China, the most famous one being Spring Fes-tival, or Chinese New Year. But I’d like to talk about a festival that occurs every year around September or early October, called Zhong Qiu Jie, or Mid-Autumn Day. It is perhaps lesser-known outside of China, but it is personally one of my favourite fes-tivals and one that I look forward to every year.As the name suggests, Mid-Autumn Day should take place around the middle of au-tumn. The reason the date changes is because it should be the fifteenth day of the eighth month in the Chinese lunar calendar, and this changes in the Western calen-dar depending on the year. The reason it is one of my favourite festivals is because we eat moon cakes! As well as being delicious, moon cakes have a special meaning. They are round, which is a symbol of family and togetherness. They usually have a sweet filling, which represents a sweet and happy life. Moon cakes are generally only around at this time of year, so it’s important to make the most of them while you can.As you can tell, I’m a big fan of Mid-Autumn Day. It makes me feel warm, thinking about my family, and a little nostalgic as I remember all the years I have eaten moon cakes. I think it’s very important to keep these traditional festivals going as they rein-force Chinese culture and remind us to think about our families at a time when more and more people may live a long way from home.

Describe a traditional storyChang'e is the Chinese goddess of the moon. The lunar exploration-orbiting spacecraft Chang'e 1 is named after her.According to legend, Chang'e and her husband Houyi were immortals living in heaven. One day, the ten sons of the Jade Emperor transformed into ten suns, causing the earth to scorch. Having failed to order his sons to stop ruining the earth, the Jade Emperor summoned Houyi for help. Houyi, using his legendary archery skills, shot down nine of the sons, but spared one son to be the sun. The Jade Emperor was obviously not pleased with Houyi's solution to save the earth: nine of his sons were dead. As punishment, the Jade Emperor banished Houyi and Chang'e to live as mere mortals on earth.Seeing that Chang'e felt extremely miserable over her loss of immortality, Houyi decided to journey on a long, perilous quest to find the pill of immortality so that the couple could be immortals again. Atthe end of his quest he met the Queen Mother of the West who agreed to give him the pill, but warned him that each person would only need half the pill to become immortal.Houyi brought the pill home and stored it in a case. He warned Chang'e not to open the case and then left home for a while. Chang'e became too curious: she opened up the case and found the pill just as Houyi was returning home. She either accidentally or purposely swallowed the pill. She started to float into the sky because of the overdose. Chang'e kept on floating until she landed on the moon. While she became lonely on the moon without her husband, she did have company,a jade rabbit.。
Do you think teenagers should learn about tradition?
Yes, I do. It is quite essential for teenagers to learn about tradition, especially some in their own country. Because one cannot find himself or herself as truly a native by not knowing anything about the tradition. When some exotic people came from other places and want to know something about your hometown, then you could only tell the tradition if you knew it. Plus, it means so much about one’s identity, for instance, if you are studying abroad, then it really helps you to stand out from crowds by introducing the unique traditions your home country has.

Describe an interesting tradition in your country? What the tradition is? When do you celebrate it? How you celebrate it? and explain why it is interesting回答示例? India is rich in culture and tradition? The tradition I’m going to talk about today is saying ‘namastey’? We celebrate this tradition every day, in fact several times a day.? This is our way of greeting each other? We do it by folding our hands, palms facing each other, fingers pointing towards the ceiling, thumbs pointing towards the chest and this is accompanied by a slight bow.? This tradition is interesting because this is the biggest export of our traditions to the western culture.? When I say namastey, I mean to say that I am your humble servant.? It creates and aura of respect which is far more than saying hello or shaking hands? It is said that the human body is composed of immense energy.? We can turn it into a positive or negative energy? Then we shake hands we transfer positive as well as negative energy? But when we fold hands, we transfer only positive energy.? When we greet another person with namastey we have no physical contact? Because of this the other person cannot be affected negatively? Whenever anyone comes to our house we always say Namastey? No wonder this word has been adopted by all the English language dictionaries. 1. Why is it important to protect traditions? It is important to protect traditions because they are part of our identity and they bind us to our roots. As it is, in today’s global era, cultural traditions are being diluted under the influence of western culture, so it has become all the more important to protect traditions. Otherwise we will be totally cut-off from our roots.2. What’s the most important tradition in your country?India has a rich cultural and traditional background. It is difficult to pinpoint one. But, I think the most important tradition in our country is treating a guest like a God. We call it ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’. Whenever anyone comes to our house, we greet him with folded hands – palms facing each other, fingers pointing towards the ceiling, thumbs pointing towards the chest. It is accompanied by a slight bow, and say Namaste or Namaskar, which means ‘I am your humble servant’.3. What kinds of traditions have disappeared in your country? Many traditions are fading away, and some have disappeared altogether. People have started wearing jeans and T-shirts instead of traditional suits and saris. They eat global food, such as pizza and burger and not the traditional paratha.4. Why should children learn about traditions?Children should learn about traditions, because these traditions will bind them to their roots. Otherwise they will be totally cut-off from their origins and will be lost in the global world of today. They will be just nobody in a big crowd.5. What can governments do to protect traditions? They can organise cultural shows and encourage traditional singers and dancers to promote their art. Governments can fund them so that they don’t give up their talent.。
4W—When, Where, Who, What, Why;1H—How【真题实例】Describe a festival that is popular in your country. You should say:What the festival isWhat time of year it isWhat people do during this festivalWhether this festival has changed in recent years.【答题思路】以该例为代表的事件题最容易从时间,地点,人物角度入手探寻素材。
就该题而言,what time=when, what people do=how, 对照4W+1H, 我们还可以自己加三点提示,即where to celebrate, with whom to spend,和why it is important to celebrate。
【细节详解】卡片提示(4点)(what)The Spring Festival, is one of the\major traditional festivals in China.(when)It falls on the first day of the first lunar month.(what to do)Ways to celebrate the Chinese new year vary from place to place, but generally speaking, setting fireworks and firecrackers is a shared tradition and people across China decorate their house with the red color.(whether)In recent years, Spring festival is more like a time for family get-together and personal relaxation , not a tradition to celebrate.可增加的内容(3点)(where) Chinese people would like to spend the holiday at home, watching TV or playing mahjong.(who) On this day, family members who study or work away from home all come back and stay together. It is a time for family reunion.(why) It is essential to have such a festival to celebrate, coz it offers the working people a chance to slow down, to strengthen the family bond and more importantly, to remember their tradition.。
What kinds of traditions are popular in your country?
Our country is a big nation in which there are quite a few popular traditions from the north to the south. For instance, giving the Hongbao, which is a red pocket with some money, sometimes we call Yasuiqian that contains best wishes to the younger generation. It is a?tradition that is conducted by myriads of people in China. Personally, I love it because I can use the red-pocket money to buy something I want, but it’s kind of pitty that I haven’t received it after graduation from college since I am a grown-up now, grown-ups don’t get red-pocket money.相关雅思口语Part3词汇:myriads of people: 无数人conduct: 行为,实施red-pocket: 红包pitty: 可惜grown-up: 成年人(注意中间有个连字符)。
Why do you think people nowadays dislike visiting a historical site?
Well, that’s right. Less and less people nowadays are showing interest in visiting a historical site. I think one reason is that modern science and technology is developing with a faster pace than ever before. So many high-tech products and devices are available for modern consumers that
they tend to think science and technology is what life is all about, and they tend to care less and less about the humanities, histories and traditions. Another important reason is to be found in historical sites themselves, which are being damaged or even ruined due to the lack of protection and preservation. For many young people like me, these places no longer hold any appeal.
Do you think people’s reading habits have changed in recent years?
You bet they are! From my point of view, the most significant change is in the way people read. Thirty years ago, most people used to read newspapers and magazines and books as a lifetime habit
b ecause they didn’t have a TV or computer. But nowadays, few of us are doing this. Instead, we have got used to surfing the Internet for quick news and downloading mini-novels to our cell phones or iPods. In short, traditional reading habits are being replaced by modern ones that focus on speed and quantity rather than quality.
(请大家特别关注其中used to 和get used to的用法。
What kind of skill do you think is the most important for young people?
Young people today generally don’t have traditional social skills, which may include writing letters, giving a presentation and maintaining friendships. This is understandable because they have grown up in the
so-called Information Age. But the importance of these skills can be seen in many aspects of our daily lives. For example, if you know how to give a powerful speech at a meeting or how to write a persuasive letter to your boss, your chances of getting promoted are much higher than those of your colleagues.
