Frequent breaks to move around, expend some energy, and hit the resetspark button would work wonders for our engagement, attention spans and retaining information rather than passive zoning out.Have a Cozy, Comfortable ClassroomYou know what doesn't exactly create a welcoming, positive learning environment? Hard chairs, zero decorations, bad lighting and freezing cold temperatures. If our classroom feltmore like a cozy, inviting gathering space, I just know we'd all be able to learn and concentrate so much better.Having different flexible seating options like bouncy balls, lap desks, floor pillows and beanbags would give us a chance to work in whatever position feels most comfortable for our individual bodies and learning styles. Making sure there are lamps for softer, warmer lighting and playing ambient soundtracks with gentle music in the background would promote a calm, peaceful vibe. Filling the room with colourful decorations, soft rugs, class plants, and having a designated snuggly reading nook area would also make the whole space feel so much happier and more relaxing. 一、不要忽略身边的英语
以缩写单词为例。
UFO是“飞行物,飞碟”,那么我们在学这个时,就要把这个字母代表的单词写出来,而不是仅仅停留在这个缩写上:U为unidentified,意为“不明确的,不确定的”,F为flying 意为“飞行”,O为object意为“物体”,这样不仅学了单词还扩充了词汇量。
同样的例子还有p,我们可以这样记忆:“公园( park n.)里不能停车( park v.)”。
CEO为首席执行官,那么在学chief(adj.主要的)这个单词时,不妨把e和o也解释一下e 为executive(n.执行者,经理,主管人员),o为officer(n.高级职员)。
网络词汇“你out了”,out为“在外,出局,不流行”;演唱会上某明星问歌迷“嗨不嗨”(high不high),指的是今天开心不开心,情绪高不高,但(high)本意为“高的,高等的”。
来自影视剧中的英语:现代都市剧中,外企工作者说话都带着英语单词或句子:I support you我支持你。
Hr人力资源。
H为huaman (人,人类),R为resources(资源)。
I call you我给你打电话。
so easy(如此容易),借助这个广告词可以讲so的用法:so adv.修饰形容词或副词,学生借助这一广告语就很快掌握了so的用法。
你今天很fashion,有人会这么说。
忽略语法现象,我们就单词记忆来说,学生很容易从语句中记住这个单词,就是“时尚”的意思。
体育赛事中的英语:喜欢看NBA的同学,可不要只看比赛,多留意些会帮你记住好多单词:Miami Heats为“迈阿密热火队”,heat 意为“热的,加热”;洛杉矶湖人队是Los Angeles Lakes,lake(n.湖);雷霆队Thunder(thunder n.雷);马刺队Thorn(thorn n.刺);篮板back board。
二、新旧词汇联系拓展
比如,讲到culture(n.文化)时,我将picture(n.图片,照片)、future(n.将来,未来),adventure(n.冒险,历险)放在一起来教学生们记忆。
这几个单词的共同点在于都是-ture结尾,发音都是[-t∫(r)],学生根据读音很快掌握了这四个单词。
在不规则动词的过去式及过去分词变化表中,对于部分单词我是这样归纳的:
上面这五个单词的共同点是结尾的两个字母都相同(draw除外,是aw结尾),都是ow,其过去式都是把ow变成ew(show除外,show 的过去式为showed),过去分词都是动词原型加上-n。
三、歌曲学习法
我们来看whaterer(pron.无论什么)一词,whatever是由what+ever,同样的构词还有whoever,whichever, wheneve,wherever,however。
这些词都可用来引导状语从句(让步状语从句),其意为“无论什么(是谁、哪一个、什么时候、什么地方、如何)”等,相当于英语中的no matter what (who, which, when, where, how)。
如:Whoever comes to visit me, tell them I’m out.
除了这样的举例外,我们可以通过一首歌曲来掌握这种用法,这首歌即美国歌手Richard Marx作词作曲的Right Here Waiting(此情可待)。
有几句歌词是这样的:Wherever you go, whatever you do.无论你在何地,无论你做何事;I will be right here waiting for you.我就在这里等候你;Whatever it takes.不管怎么样;Or how my heart breaks.不管我多哀伤;I will be right here waiting for you.我就在这里等候你。
这时伤感而又浪漫的曲风给青春期的学生一种别样的唯美感觉,既学习了知识,又调节了学习氛围。
总之,在英语学习中,词汇量是关键,单词的记忆是一个反复的过程,只要我们多留意、多观察、多发觉、多思考,词汇教学也会充满趣味性。
