新教的教派主要分布在美国南部和中西部。

比较大的新教派别有浸礼会、卫理公会、长老会、加尔文教派和路德教派等，它们的成员都在100万人以上。

各大教派下面往往又有许多宗教组织。

例如浸礼会下有∶美国浸礼派教会(1907年建立)、全美浸礼派大会(1880年建立)、美国全国浸礼派大会(1880年建立)等。

卫理公会下有∶联合卫理公会、非洲卫理公会主教派教会等。

美国新教各派在海外的传教会约有30个，传教土达35000人。
