由于丙烯腈的腈基极性较强，可以增强PS中分子链的相互作用，所以冲击强度、拉伸强度及塑件的表面硬度均较HIPS为佳。

一般丙烯腈的比例含量愈高，其耐热性、刚性及耐溶剂性愈佳，但流动性愈差且塑料底色带黄，在注射成形(Inje ct io n Mo ld)时其机械性及尺寸安定性非常好，基于上述的优点A BS树脂成为一种优秀的工程塑料。
