1My Hometown – Longxu District, Wuzhou City, GuangxiHello, everyone! My name is Xiao Ming, and I'm a10-year-old boy from Longxu District, which is part of Wuzhou City in the beautiful Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China. I'm so excited to share with you all about my amazing hometown!Longxu District is a place filled with natural wonders and rich cultural heritage. One of the most remarkable features of my hometown is the stunning Xianren Mountain, also known as the "Fairy Mountain." This mountain is not just any ordinary mountain; it's a place of legend and mystery. According to local folklore, fairies and immortals once lived on this mountain, and their presence has blessed the area with incredible beauty and tranquility. As you climb up Xianren Mountain, you'll be greeted by lush green forests, winding trails, and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. The mountain is home to a variety ofplants and animals, including rare species that can only be found in this region. One of my favorite things to do is to go hiking with my family on the weekends, and every time we reach the top, I feel like I've entered a magical realm straight out of a storybook. But that's not all! Longxu District is also famous for its delicious local cuisine. My absolute favorite dish is the Wuzhou Mifen, a type of rice noodle soup that's both savory and comforting. The noodles are made from rice flour and have a unique chewy texture that I just can't get enough of. The soup is typically served with a variety of toppings like pork, vegetables, and a special fermented bean paste that adds an incredible depth of flavor. Whenever my grandma makes Wuzhou Mifen, the whole house is filled with the most mouthwatering aroma, and I can hardly wait to dig in!Another thing that makes Longxu District special is its rich cultural heritage. Every year, during the Qingming Festival, our community comes together to celebrate and honor our ancestors. We visit the family graves, clean them, and make offerings of food, incense, and paper money. It's a time for us to remember those who came before us and to appreciate the sacrifices they made for our families. One of my favorite Qingming Festival traditions is the "Swing into Life" ceremony. In our village, there's a massive swing made from ropes and wooden planks, and during the festival, people take turns swinging on it. It's believed that the higher you swing, the better your luck and fortune will be for the coming year. As a kid, I always look forward to this tradition because it's not only fun but also holds such deep cultural significance.Speaking of culture, Longxu District is also home to the Zhuang ethnic minority, one of the largest minority groups in China. The Zhuang people have their own language, customs, and traditions that have been passed down for generations. One of the things I find most fascinating is their traditional dress, which features vibrant colors, intricate embroidery, and unique patterns. During festivals and celebrations, the streets come alive with the sight of people dressed in these beautiful outfits, and it's like stepping back in time.Another aspect of Longxu District that I absolutely love is the warm and welcoming community. Everyone in our neighborhood knows each other, and we all look out for one another. Whether it's helping an elderly neighbor with theirgroceries or organizing a neighborhood cleanup, there's a strong sense of unity and togetherness that I cherish deeply. One of my favorite memories from growing up in Longxu District is the annual Dragon Boat Festival. On this day, our community comes together to race dragon boats along the Xi River, which runs through our district. The boats are beautifully decorated with colorful flags and intricate carvings of dragons, and the atmosphere is filled with excitement and friendly competition. After the races, we all gather for a massive feast of zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) and other delicious treats. It's a day of celebration, unity, and pride in our cultural heritage. As a kid growing up in Longxu District, I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such natural beauty, rich cultural traditions, and a warm and welcoming community. Every day, I'm reminded of how special my hometown is, and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. So, if you ever have the chance to visit Longxu District in Wuzhou City, Guangxi, I highly recommend it. You'll be greeted with stunning landscapes, delicious food, and a warm and hospitable people who will make you feel right at home. It's like a magical land straight out of a fairy tale! There are towering limestone karst formations that look like giant stone pillars reaching for the sky. These incredible rocks have been carved by nature over millions of years, with intricate patterns and shapes that are simply breathtaking.Inside the park, there are also incredible underground caves to explore. This massive waterfall is located on the border between China and Vietnam, and it's truly a sight to behold. The thundering water cascades down from a height of over 60 meters, creating a mesmerizing curtain of mist and rainbows. I remember the first time I visited Detian Waterfall, I was completely awestruck by its sheer power and beauty. But Longzhou isn't just about natural wonders; it's also a place with a rich cultural heritage. Our town is home to the Zhuang ethnic minority group, one of the largest minority groups in China. One of my favorite dishes is the Wuzhou "ladu" rice noodles. These noodles are made from a special type of rice and then stretched and pulled by skilled chefs until they become long and chewy. They're served in a flavorful broth with various toppings like meat, vegetables, and pickled greens. Whenever my grandma makes ladu noodles at home, the aroma fills the entire house, and I can't wait to dig in!Another popular dish in Longzhou is the Zhuang-style sticky rice balls, called "niang." These sticky rice balls are filled with different fillings like sweet red bean paste, sesame, or even savory fillings likemushrooms or meat. They're wrapped in fragrant bamboo leaves and steamed to perfection. My favorite is the sweet redbean niang – it's like having a little bundle of deliciousness in every bite!Living in Longzhou has taught me so much about appreciating nature and respecting cultural traditions. I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in a place with such breathtaking natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Whenever I visit the karst formations, waterfalls, or attend the ethnic minority festivals, I'm reminded of how special and unique my hometown truly is.I can't wait to explore more of Longzhou's wonders as I grow older. Maybe one day, I'll even become a tour guide and share the stories and secrets of this amazing place with people from all over the world. For now, I'm just a kid enjoying the simple pleasures of life in my beloved hometown, surrounded by majestic mountains, rushing rivers, and the warm embrace of my family and community. If you ever have the chance to visit Longzhou District in Wuzhou City, Guangxi, I highly recommend it. Qingshitan means "Green Stone Beach" and it's this amazing place along the Xijiang River with bright emerald green water and huge limestone rocks everywhere. Therocks have all these crazy shapes and formations that make it feel like you're walking through a fairy tale land. There are even some rocks that look just like animals! My favorite is the one that looks like an elephant spraying water from its trunk. The whole area is surrounded by lush green mountains and forests too which makes it extra beautiful. Every spring there's a huge festival at Qingshitan where people go to admire the flowers, eat yummy local foods, and even swim in the bright green river!Another awesome natural spot in our district is the Shenyu Cave. This incredible cave system is one of the largest underground caves in all of China! It's over 3 million square meters big with high ceilings, underground rivers, stalagmites and stalactites everywhere. The cave is so massive that some parts of it haven't even been explored yet because it's too deep and dangerous. Can you imagine how creepy but cool it would be to go deep underground and discover a new section of cave that no human has ever set foot in before? Some brave explorers have already found ancient skeletons and pottery pieces hundreds of thousands of years old hidden in the Shenyu Cave which is just mind-blowing to me. They even found claw markings from prehistoric bears scratched into the cave walls! I really want to go on a tour through the cave one day but I might get too scared in the pitch black darkness. Even just the entrancearea is amazing though with its gigantic mouth that looks like a ferocious monster ready to swallow you whole!Longxu is also well-known for some of our local snacks and dishes. We have this super yummy dessert called "Wife Cake" which is made from glutinous rice, brown sugar, and crushed peanuts. The name "Wife Cake" comes from an old legend about a husband who made the cake for his wife because she was craving sweets when she was pregnant. Another beloved Longxu dish is called "Husband Slices" which is made from bamboo shoots, mushrooms, pork and a secret blend of spices. The name comes from a different legend about a wife who created the dish to thank her husband for all his hard work. I don't know how true those old legends are but I do know both the Wife Cake and Husband Slices taste incredible! We also have lots of fresh river fish, fruits and vegetables grown right here in Longxu since we have such a fertile region along the Xijiang River. One thing that makes me really proud of my hometown is our culture and traditions. We have a bunch of cool festivals and celebrations throughout the year. During the Qingming Festival in early spring, families get together and go sweep the graves of our ancestors to show respect. Then we burn offerings of paper money, clothes and other goods so that our ancestors can usethose things in the afterlife. For the Dragon Boat Festival in summer, we make this glutinous rice dish called zongzi wrapped in bamboo leaves and then there are dragon boat racing competitions on the river which are really fun to watch! The Mid-Autumn Festival in the fall is another big one where we eat sweet mooncakes and admire the bright full moon together with our loved ones. And of course, Chinese New Year is the biggest festival of all which we celebrate for like two whole weeks! There are fireworks, lion dances, giving out red envelopes stuffed with money...it's just the best time ever.We also have some unique folk customs in Longxu like the Dragon Boat Watching tradition. This happens at night during the Dragon Boat Festival when people will gather near rivers, lakes or ponds and watch for "dragon boats" which are actually just groups of fireflies flickering together in patterns that look like moving boats from a distance. It's meant to bring good luck and fortune for the year. Another ritual we have is the "Field Gods Parade" during the harvest season where people dress up as deities called the "Field Gods" and go marching through the villages to bring blessings and abundance for the crops. I absolutely love seeing the colorful masks and elaborate costumes they wear!Even though I'm still just a little kid, my hometown of Longxu District already means so much to me. It's where all my friends and family live. It's where I've made countless happy memories playing in the parks, swimming in the river, celebrating festivals together. The beautiful nature, the delicious local foods, the rich traditions - it's all just a part of who I am. When I grow up, maybe I'll move away to a bigger city for university or work. But no matter where life takes me, Longxu will always be my roots, my happy place, the home that I cherish forever in my heart. I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about this amazing place!。
