Miller's Farm is this huge working farm out in the countryside about an hour from our town. They have all kinds of animals and crops, and they offer educational tours and activities for students.When we arrived, we met up with our tour guide, a friendly older man named Mr. Jenkins. He was dressed up like anold-timey farmer in overalls and a straw hat. Mr. Jenkins started by taking us around to see all the different animals they have on the farm.First up were the cows. They had a whole herd of black and white Holstein cows grazing out in the pasture. Mr. Jenkins told us that the cows get milked twice a day and that milk gets pasteurized and bottled right there on the farm to be sold. He let a few of us take turns trying to milk one of the cows by hand. It was harder than it looks!Next were the pigs. I'll be honest, the pig pen was pretty smelly! But it was cool seeing all the big pink pigs lounging around in the mud. Mr. Jenkins said they had just had a new litter of piglets born a couple weeks ago. We slowly crept along, feeling like explorers searching for a lost city of gold.Then, there it was in the distance - a crumbling wooden building silhouetted against the twilight sky. "That's it! We climbed up into the mining company's rusted processing buildings and factories, peering down into deep shaft openings in the earth.In one spot, we even found an old West-style saloon with a weather-beaten wagon sitting outside! The swinging doors and barroom inside made it look like the patrons had just gotten up and left one day. Sooo cool.Eventually, the light began to fade, so we set up a campsite on the outskirts of the ghost town. We built a roaring campfire and set up our tents, then sat around eating s'mores and telling spooky stories about the ghost miners who must haunt the place. An owl hooted mournfully in the distance.I've gotta say, sleeping out in a legit ghost town was one of the most thrilling yet terrifying experiences ever! Every creak and groan of the old buildings in the desert wind made me jolt awake, wondering if it was the restless spirits of the mining folk.The next morning, we packed up our camp and did one final explore around the ghost town before reluctantly heading back home. On the drive, we swapped stories about our favorite spots and sights, already making plans for our next adventure."That place was incredible! It was the best summer ever!The first few weeks, I just hung out at home playing video games and watching movies and TV shows. My favorite was this sci-fi series about alien robots. It was so cool! I stayed up way too late binge watching it.Then in mid-July, my family went on an amazing trip to the beach for a week. We rented this huge beach house right on the ocean. Every morning I would wake up to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. So peaceful and relaxing!During the days, we spent hours playing in the water and sunbathing on the sand. The ocean was bright blue and the weather was sunny and hot - perfect beach weather. I loved bodysurfing and riding the waves. A few times, I got crushed byhuge waves and got saltwater up my nose. Not fun! But most of the time it was awesome.In the evenings, we would have barbecues and make s'mores around the fire pit. The sunsets over the ocean were just breathtaking. Vibrant pinks, oranges and reds painting the sky. I tried to take some good pictures but they never quite captured how beautiful it really was.One day, we went on a snorkeling tour to see coral reefs and marine life up close. Putting on all the snorkeling gear was a hassle, but once we got in the water it was amazing! We saw so many tropicalfish in every color of the rainbow. There were angelfish, parrotfish, clownfish like Nemo, and more. The coral was vibrant purples, greens, yellows and blues. Like an underwater rainbow forest! I even spotted a sea turtle slowly swimming by. It was magical。
