书面表达:A possible version:

Dear Li Hua,

I’m glad that you didn’t cheat in examinations. What you have done is right, even though your performance may not be so pleasing.

It is universally acknowledged that cheating in studies has bad effects on our personal development, which suggests our total lack of honesty. What some of your classmates did is completely wrong, despite the fact that they might feel self-satisfied with the minor false success. If they are not aware of their mistakes, they will undoubtedly lose in time. As for your paren ts, you might just as well share your ideas with them, trying to get their understanding and encouragement.

From my point of view, we are supposed to focus on adequate preparations before examinations.

As you know, we take various examinations to test how well we have learned and then make necessary adjustments. Therefore, w e can benefit more from honest scores rather than cheating in examinations. What does matter is that we should be brave to face setbacks and challen ges. To end this, I really hope that you will work hard and make scientific preparations in advance, and wish you every success in future.

Yours sincerely

Wang Lei

M: Are you familiar with the culture of afternoon tea? Let’s sum up a few things you need to know about this traditional English custom.

While the tradition of drinking tea dates back to more than 3,000 BC in China, it was not until the mid 17th century that the concept of “afternoon tea” first appeared in the UK. In 1840, Anna Maria Russell, started asking for a tea tray with butter, bread and cakes at 4 pm every day, as she found she was hung ry at this time and the evening meal was served late at 8 pm. Traditional afternoon tea, which is typically served between 4 pm and 6 pm, is technically a

small meal, not a drink. It consists of a selection of sandwiches and fruit jam and cakes. Of course, tea or coffee, served with milk and sugar, is also provided.

Then, here is the etiquette of afternoon tea.

1. When you drink your tea, take small sip s rather than “glugging” it down. The actual drinking of tea can take place throughout the “meal”.

2. Similarly, the food served should be eaten in a restrained fashion as well. Sandwiches are eaten first, followed by th e sweet snacks, such as cakes, pastries and scones.

3. If you take milk with your tea, pour the tea first and then add milk.
