1. fifteen percent of our students 15% 的学生

“分数或百分数+of+名词”构成的短语作主语时,谓语动词要由of后面的名词决定。名词是复数,谓语动词用复数形式;名词是单数,谓语动词用单数形式。这是因为短语中后面的名词是中心词,而短语中前面的量词是修饰语。

2. surprised 作形容词,意为“感到惊讶的,出人意料的”,在句中多作表语,主语多为人。
