1.1Introduction

Fig 1.1 System structure diagram

Battery Management System (BMS for short) adopts the model of distributed control system (DCS), each module through the CAN bus to realize high-speed communication. Two way outside CAN communicate with the vehicle and the charger. Each module has the following basic functions.

Main Control Module:Communications with external devices(Vehicle、Charger、PLC、UPS)、Battery pack SOC estimation(dynamic calibration)、Cell SOH estimation、cell RESDC calculation、Alarm judgment、system whole current sample collecting;

High Voltage Module:The total voltage sampling, battery insulation grade calculation;

Human Interface Module:Various information display and parameter setting;

Remote Monitoring Module:Data display and storage, vehicle positioning, control function, users only need to open the browser and login Changsha xx BMS service web site to view the data;

Data Acquisition Module :Sampling of cell voltage, battery box, temperature, control heating refrigeration equipment;

____________________________________________________________________________ 1.2Features

CELL VOLTAGEDETECTION: A professional battery management chip for battery voltage acquisition, Margin of error of voltage < 10 mV;

BATTERY PACK CURRENT DETECTION: Using shunt and high-precision professional integrated chip for current sampling, which meet the requirements in a wide range, also meet the requirements of high precision, ±400 a full range of sampling accuracy is 1%;

BATTERY PACK TEMPERATURE DETECTION:Achieve real-time monitoring of body temperature;

SOC ESTIMATION:Master control module to complete the current collection, and estimate the battery charge state;

CHARGE AND DISCHARGE MANAGEMENT:Cut off the system according to the battery status alarm, if has a communication interface on load and charger, then the BMS can adjust the charge and discharge current according to battery status, this is more advantageous to increase the battery cycle life.

COMMUNICATION INTERFACE:2 way CAN2.0Binterface,1 way RS-485 interface,communications with the same interface devices, such as vehicle, charging pile, PLC, UPS, etc.

OPERATING RIGHTS MANAGEM ENTS:BMS can be set by the touch screen on the system, and has encryption management functions.

THERMAL MANAGEMENT:BMS could manage the thermal of the battery case and extend the battery cycle life;

REMOTE MONITORING:Send data to the server via remote management unit, the maintenance personnel can real-time understand the running state of system, can upgrade the system through the remote function;

Chapter2. Module Introduction

2.1 Main Control Module

Master control module is BMS internal management and communication with external devices, all the information (such as cell voltage, temperature, etc.) will be sent to the main control module, main control module will calculate the battery state according to the related information .Technical parameters as shown in table 1.1.

Positive view of module interface see Figure 2.1, Pin function as shown in Table 2.2;

2.2 High Voltage Module

The mail function of High Voltage Control Module is test the total voltage and the insulation

resistance between battery wires and the vehicle ,Insulation testing standard see GB/T18384. See Table 2.3.

Positive view of High V oltage Control Module interface see Figure 2.2, Pin function as shown in Table 2.4.

2.3Remote Monitoring Module

Remote monitoring module is mainly completed system positioning and the role of data interaction with the remote monitoring module; the remote monitoring unit can be used in different fields, such as electric vehicles, UPS power supply, energy storage, wind power energy storage, and other fields. Operator could know the BMS data information at the first time, to avoid problems spread fast. Technical parameters as shown in table 2.5.

____________________________________________________________________________ Chapter3. System Maintenance

3.1Notice

Before the maintenance of battery management system, you must ensure that the car keys hit the OFF position and cut off the high voltage output to avoid personnel injury;

Prohibit any joints and connectors of the BMS on the battery pack, for the unused thread you must be wrapped with insulating tape, to avoid causing short circuit between BMS and battery pack;.

For the use of tools such as adjustable wrench, you must be wrapped with insulating tape, to avoid causing short circuit of the battery pack.

Before the personnel install and maintain the system, you must wear insulated clothing, insulation shoes and insulating gloves.

If the tool drops to the car, you must use the insulated tools to take out.

Don’t open any module unit, internal high risk.

All BMS internal modules are precision components, install position should pay attention to waterproof and moisture proof.

Regularly check the connection of each module plug , when it’s found loosened, you should be reinforced in time.

3.2Common malfunctions and troubleshooting

If they are unable to solve the problem temporarily, please contact technical support.
