Seated in a convertible (敞篷车) with the top down at 60 miles an hour, Mary looked at the flies that sat on top of Mark’s hair. How could they stay there? She wondered.

Mary had not seen Mark in years, until the other day when he came into the café wher e she worked. His appearance was different from when he was in high school. Now, he was a bit fat and thick glasses covered his eyes. However, that didn’t change Mary’s feelings for him at all. He had just bought a brand new red sports car and asked her if she would like to go for a ride and then have dinner with him. Her heart beat with excitement as he opened the door for her. She noticed something very strange as Mark got into the car and started to drive away. On the hair was a group of flies just sitting there.

Mary stared in amazement. It seemed the faster they drove, the more determined the flies were to stick to his hair.

Mary remained silent. She leaned forward and turned the radio on, to try to divert her attention away from the flies, but sh e couldn’t help thinking about them. She looked up at Mark, who was completely devoted to what was going on and continued to sing to the music while driving merrily along.

Finally, Mark pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road beside a diner and looked in the mirror and said, “Mary, I would like to comb my hair before we get something to eat. Could you reach under the seat and give me my hair cream?”

Mary reached under the seat and pulled out a camping backpack, which contained a round jar and started to laugh wildly as she pointed to the label (商标).

In order to increase their job chances after college, Chinese students are turning to a special practice—Eiffel Tower nose jobs (鼻整形手术). The latest trend in plastic surgery promises to create a nose that is similar to the curve of the Eiffel Tower.

Surgeon Wang Xuming said: “We are influenced by the beauty of the Eiffel Tower. We are not content to just add something to the nose; we reconstruct it.” The surger y costs about US$ 10,000 and involves the enlarging of the nose using tissue from the forehead.

Hundreds of posters advertising the procedure are put up all over Chongqing city, where surgeon Xuming runs his private practice. They show a western-looking woman with an almost-to o-perfect nose, against an outline of the Eiffel Tower.

Interestingly, many young women in China are eager to achieve a western appearance, as they believe it will give them an advantage in the highly competitive job market. “Some students face a lot of employment pressure after graduation. If their facial features are good, they’ll have more chances of finding a job,” said surgeon Xuming. “We’ve had students getting the Eiffel Tower nose; it’s helped them a lot.”

Apparently, Chinese employers are quite particular about appearances and prefer attractive candidates. Some of them even go as far as putting height and weight requirements in their employment ads. Plastic surgeons across the country are reporting an increase in the number of students choosing beauty “improvement”.

According to a Mr. Li, hospital manager at surgeon Xuming’s clinic, most of their customers are female and the bill is taken care of by the family. “They usually come in with their mothers,

and tend to be from well-off backgrounds.” he said.

Personally, I don’t think it so important to “improve” our appearance as long as we are skilled at our jobs. We can’t decide how we look, but we can decide how well we live and work.

Move over Psy. There’s a new viral music video on the Internet that’s getting millions of people dancing and laughing. Psy is a singer who created Gagnam Style, a music video which featured a catchy tune and interesting dance.

The new music video called The Fox (What does the fox say?) has recently gone viral. At 123 000 000 views, it may even c atch up to Gagnam Style. The video asks the question, “What does the fox say?” It’s a good question. And it seems, at least according to the music video, there is no good answer.

Actors in the video dress up like the animals they’re singing about. One of the brothers dresses up like a fox. There is a surprising and silly dance in the video that takes the viewer a bit off-guard. The video’s appeal is the song’s simple rhythm and catchy chorus (副歌). The makers of the video never expected the video to do well or even to be taken seriously. In fact, it started out as a joke. The song was written by two brothers from Norway, Vegard

and Bard Ylvis Ker. The brothers have their own late-night talk show in Norway. They thought the video would be so bad that it would give them something to talk about on their show.

On their website, they say the video was “supposed to entertain a few Norwegians for three minutes —and that’s all.” But people started loving it. Some people say that once you listen to the delightfully silly song, you want to listen to it again and again.

The brothers have been guests on some major North American talk shows. They say they’re happy about the success of their video, but they know that tomorrow something else could come along and be even bigger.

Last weekend’s concert, organized and performing by the students of the Welsh Community

第I卷阅读题 一、现代文阅读(9分) 阅读下面的文字,完成文后各题。 猴年说“猴” 杨志忠 代表申年的生肖是人们喜爱的猴子。在中国古代,常将猿猴连称,人们喜爱猿猴,还因为古人将它视为长寿的象征。《抱朴子》一书中就有“猴寿八百岁”的记载,伴随长寿的自然是安详平和,生活幸福。 猿猴长寿而面目又似老人,加上长臂善于攀援,因此猿猴在中国古代传说中还被赋予更为神奇的色彩。最脍炙人口的故事,当属《吴越春秋》中所记越女和袁公比剑术之事,当对搏三击之后,袁公飞上树梢化白猿而去。而中国古典小说中更为神奇的猿猴,还是小说《西游记》中那位神通广大的猴王孙悟空,在书中被喻为“心猿”。他那猿猴头而身穿人类服装的有趣造型,今天已是家喻户晓、老少熟知,并被作为中国画、年画以及面塑、剪纸、风筝等民间工艺创作的题材,更是活跃在戏曲舞台和电影、电视屏幕之中。特别是孙悟空竖起“齐天大圣”的大旗,身披铠甲大闹天宫的无畏形象,更被视为中华民族英勇抗暴精神的象征。 谈起行者孙悟空那猴首人装的艺术造型,则需追溯到明代《西游记》小说成书以前,至少在隋唐时期,十二辰(十二时)中的“申”像,就已经从写实的猴子被塑造成猴首人躯身穿袍服的形貌。就是由历史上唐玄奘西天取经而铺衍的故事中,出现有随行的猴行者,《西游记》也非首创,至少在五代时已经出现。甘肃敦煌榆林窟西夏时期的壁画,有西行求法高僧礼拜普贤菩萨的画像,在高僧身后随有驮经的白马,白马旁立有合什礼拜的猴首人身的猴行者。这些猴行者的形貌,正是后来孙悟空艺术造型的前身。 除了猴首人身的神异造型以外,中国古代文物中更多的是写实的猿猴造型艺术品。其中年代最早的是史前的原始陶塑。在湖北天门市石河镇新石器时代遗址中出土的小型陶塑动物中,有高度不及5厘米的小陶猿猴。由于形体很小,史前艺术家只塑出它的大轮廓,但是已能掌握猿猴的体质特征,极为古拙传神。 历史进入青铜时代,猿猴造型仍是人们喜爱的艺术形象,常被采用为青铜器的装饰图像。山西省闻喜县出土的青铜刖人守囿挽车的车盖上,就饰有一只立体塑的蹲猴。到秦汉时期西南地区的古代滇族文物中,更是常有以猿猴造型为题材的青铜艺术品。云南石寨山滇族墓中出土的一件圆形镶嵌饰牌,周缘攀伏着一群镂空的猿猴,首尾相连,前面的猴把尾巴翘绕到后随的猿猴头上,后面的猿猴又用前爪抓住前面猿猴的躯体,虽然猿猴都呈同样的姿态,但是回环往复,呈现出颇为强烈的动感。

湖北省荆州市沙市区四中2020-2021学年高一上学 期期中语文试题 学校_________ 班级__________ 姓名__________ 学号__________ 一、现代文阅读 1. 阅读下面的文字,完成下列小题。 ①“人类命运共同体”理念是中国特色大国外交思想的重要内容。那么,它的特色究竟“特”在哪里?我们究竟应该如何认识其思想文化本源? ②客观地说,世界上主要文明地区的政治文化中都有命运与共、共同体、世界主义的政治思想,例如西方基督教世界秩序及西方永久和平论、印度思想中的“不害”、伊斯兰世界的“天下一家”、中国古代的“天下大同”等观念。总的来说,早期这些共同体观念解决的只是内部秩序问题,还没有很好地解决不同文明之间如何共生共处的问题。其中,历史上不少共同体思想还受到二元对立世界观的局限,它们所强调构建的共同体是以一个假想或现实的敌人为目标的,这种思想很容易导致世界陷入对抗之中。事实上,直到今天,这种思想还在影响着个别大国的外交政策,值得我们去辨别和防范。 ③我们倡导的“人类命运共同体”,其思想文化本源来自传统和现代两部分。所谓传统,中国古代有丰富的中外秩序资源,在当时地理所及的范围内,形成了一套处理中外关系的思想和实践做法,这套思想和做法在今天需要创造性转化。所谓现代,“打造人类命运共同体”还需要从马克思主义中寻找本源。马克思主义关于社会共同体和人类解放的思想中,包含着国际主义以及很多“人类命运与共”的资源。马克思主义政治经济学中关于世界不平等、剥削以及世界政治经济秩序根源、改造的论述等等,都是我们理解“人类命运共同体”的重要思想本源。同时,这些思想也是“人类命运共同体”理念从学理上区别于既往及现在流行的一些共同体理论,如各种带有宗教色彩的联盟、大西洋共同体、“民主”价值观联盟等的重要依据。 ④以往绝大多数国际秩序思想和实践,要么服务于强者,要么用来结成一个国家联盟以反对另一个国家联盟,要么是一种宗教秩序的外在表现。马克思主义政治经济学思想中蕴含的“人类命运共同体”理念与它们的区别在于,其并不是从排他性国家联盟的角度来狭隘地理解共同体,而是从世界范围不平等经济秩序的变革、大多数人实现自身解放从而结成联合的高度来理解共同体。 ⑤值得一提的是,我们今天倡导的“人类命运共同体”,并不否定其他文明中关于人类合作的合理的思想资源。人类命运共同体是一个开放的概念,不同的思想文化都可以从中找到适合自己理解的位置。这个概念将随着全球人、
