Some activities are held across the country, but most of the celebrations will take place at a local level that comes from local customs. Also, local government usually hosts all kinds of activities for the festival, such as folk culture performances, food tasting and so on.

I sighed． Part of me wanted to say how good she looked, but another part stopped the words coming out．Jenny was in such good shape that she'd look good in the outfit．Sometimes, I regretted choosing a best friend who was so pretty．God，why can't I be the one with the rich parents and the great look?More and more， I was envious(妒忌的)of her．

“You think so?"Jenny said doubtfully．
“Just believe me．We'll find something better，"I told her，pushing her back into the dressing room．“You just can't buy the first thing you see．”I did my best to get Jenny out of the store，away from that outfit．As we left，Jenny gave the sweater one last look．Just down the mall，we passed a yogurt place．"My treat，''Jenny said，pulling out her wallet．

A few minutes earlier，all I had heard was about saving my babysitting money．I had hated the fact that Jenny could ask her parents for anything，and they'd buy it for her．This time，though．I heard more．I heard the voice of someone who loved and cared me for who I was．I

I arrived at my mother's home for our Saturday family dinner. The smells of food flew over from the kitchen. My mother was pulling out quilt after quilt from the boxes, proudly showing me their beauties. I knew they were all made herself. She was preparing for a quilt show on TV. When we began to fold and put them back into the boxes, I noticed something at the bottom of one box. I pulled it out.
"What's this?" I asked.
"Oh?" Mom said, "That's Mama's quilt."
I spread the quilt. It looked as if a group of school children had made the pieces together. "Grandmother made this?" I asked in surprise. My grandmother was a master at making quilts. This certainly didn't look like any of the quilts she had made.
"Yes, right before she died. I brought it home with me last year and made some changes," Mom said, "I'm still working on it. See, this is what I've done so far."
I looked at it more closely. She had made a line straight. At the center of the quilt, she had stitched a piece of cloth with these words: "My mother made many quilts. She didn't get all lines straight. But I think this is beautiful. I want to see it finished. Her last quilt."
"Oh, this is so nice, Mom." I said. I was sure now that by completing my grandmother's quilt, my mother was honoring her own mother. I realized that I held in my hands a family treasure. Babies like sitting in the prams which are pushed by their mothers along the road or in the park. They sit in the prams eating, drinking, laughing or sleeping.
But have you ever heard of the Pram Race before? It is held in Hull, England once a year. You might see some people running along the road and pushing the prams as fast as they can. Last weekend, I took Lucy to a park, where she discovered a track with large bumps(凸块)and sharp tums. At first, I thought Lucy was able to ride her bike along the track, but she quickly found that her bike was too low to the ground and kept getting stuck on top of the bump.
Lucy looked at me with fear because she was still a biking newbie. I tried to encourage her too, but really, I was thinking﹣this is going to be a disaster. Not because I thought she would get hurt. More because I thought she wouldn't be able to pick up enough speed to balance, then get really discouraged, and give up quickly. I imagined her throwing her bicycle to the ground and then
crying all the way home.
But I was only half right. Lucy did have a lot of trouble riding the bike. She couldn't find her balance. She fell many times. At one point, she almost started crying because younger kids were getting angry that she was slowing everyone else down. But she did not give up. She kept picking herself up and trying again. She even took the bike off the track and into the main park to practice pushing off and picking up speed on a flat ground. When she felt more confident, she came back. Then she did it over and over again until she finally reached her goal of going around the whole track without falling once. Then she didn't want to leave and everyone was cheering her on.
