2 Purpose
This SOP describes the procedures and responsibilities of personnel concerned for the operation, monitoring and preventive maintenance (PM) of Chilled Water System in ChangPing Plant, Beijing Novartis Pharma Ltd.

3 Scope
The scope of this SOP is limited to the physical boundaries of the Chilled Water System in ChangPing Plant, Beijing Novartis Pharma Ltd. Main components are as follows: SOP
Two >Carrier< water chillers
Two >Grundfos< circulation pump for return water
Three >Grundfos< circulation pump for supply water
Control system
Water headers for distribution and collection
Pressure compensation tank and water top up device
Pressure, temperature and water flow measuring instrument

4 Procedures
4.1 Operation and Monitoring
The two chillers adjust their output automatically according to the load, the control system will put in the second chiller according to the load. The start and stop of the two circulation pumps for return water can be locked with the start and stop of the corresponding water chiller. The three circulation pumps for supply water are haired for two in use and one as spare. They are frequency controlled and can be single pump running or double pump running depending on water demand under the control system.
Operation of the Chillers
The operation on the chiller is fulfilled via a touch panel. Default page appears with a touch on the panel. On each side of the panel are the start/stop button and alarm indicator respectively. While the chiller is at the state of stop, running mode selection is achieved with a press of the start/stop button, and local start and remote mode can be switched. While the chiller is at the state of non-stop, running mode selection is achieved with a press of the start/stop button, and local stop and remote mode can be switched. Normally, the leading chiller is set as local start and the other remote mode. The alarm lamp will light up or blink when there is an alarm within the chiller. Click the main screen button in the default screen, the main screen will appear. Click the alarm button in the main screen, the alarm information can be read so that to cure the problem. Click the reset button in the main screen, the chiller will get reset. Descriptions on the operation buttons of the touch panel are as follows:

Operation of Pumps and Control System
Manual start/stop of the two return water circulation pumps are fulfilled via the inverters. Normally, the pump for leading chiller is set as manual start and the other automatic.
Manual start/stop of the three return water circulation pumps are fulfilled via the mode select switches. Normally, the pumps are all set as automatic.
The operation on the control system is fulfilled via a touch panel. The main screen appears with a touch on the panel. Each component of the system is shown with a symbol in the main screen and the symbol will be in different color for corresponding state of the component: green means running, white means stand by, yellow means alarm and red means stop of alarm.
System start operations are as follows:
1. set the two return water circulation pumps
2. set the two water chillers
3. login as a USER
4. select chiller start sequence
5. click start/stop button, select supply water pump start sequence and confirm,
system starting delay begins

System stop operations are as follows:

System supply water temperature setting point TT301 is 5 o C
Low limit for system pressure PT401 is 1.5 bar and normally the system pressure should be within the range of 1.5~2.0 bar
The target value of the pressure difference between supply and return water DPT304-2 is set as 0.75 bar and normally this pressure difference should be within the range of 0.7~0.8 bar

In case of alarm of any component, the yellow lamp in the control panel will light up and the color of corresponding symbol will be yellow or red. After removal of the fault, press the white colored reset button in the control panel, the system will be recovered, but the alarms in the control panel and touch panel will not disappear until the user reset to be done via touch panel. User reset operations are as follows:

2. click reset button, the alarms will disappear after a delay of a moment
