Thousands of people have been killed in a massive earthquake in Japan. The quake -- the most powerful to hit Japan in more than 100 years -- caused massive damage and many people are missing and feared dead. The 8.9 magnitude quake struck Friday(March 11) off Japan's eastern coast, and prompted tsunami warnings (海啸警报)across the Pacific as far away as South America and the U.S. West Coast. Several days after a 8.9-magnitude earthquake and resulting 10-meter-high tsunami devastated the coastline. The United States Geological Survey says it was the fifth largest earthquake since 1900. The largest, with a 9.5 magnitude, shook Chile(智利) in 1960.

In Japan, the tsunami swept away boats, cars and hundreds of houses in coastal areas north of Tokyo. The quake shook buildings in the Japanese capital and caused several fires. All train and subway traffic in Tokyo has been stopped, and thousands of people there were unable to get back home. People are just trying to find clean water. Food supplies are running out. How can we get rid of garbage? Do we have enough energy sources to meet our future energy needs?

These are two important questions that many people are asking today. Some people think that men might he able to solve both problems at the same time. They suggest using garbage as an energy source.

For a long time people buried garbage or dumped it on empty land. Now, empty land is scarce. But more and more garbage is produced each year. But garbage can be a good fuel to use. The things in garbage do not look like coal, petroleum, or natural gas; but they are chemically similar to these fossil fuels. As we use up our fossil-fuel supplies, we might be able to use garbage as an energy source.

Burning garbage is not a new idea. Some cities in Europe and the United States have been burning garbage for years. The heat that is produced by burning garbage is used to boil water. The steam that is produced is used to make electricity or to heat nearby buildings. In Paris, France, some power plants burn almost 2 million metric tons of the city's garbage each year. The amount of energy produced is about the sane as would he produced by burning almost a half million barrels of oil!

But there are problems in using garbage as a fuel. Garbage that burns easily, such as food scraps and paper, must be separated from metals, glass, and other materials that do not burn easily This separation process is normally costly. Another problem is that burning garbage can pollute the air.

Our fossil fuel supplies are limited. Burning garbage might be one kind of energy source that we can use to help meet our energy needs. This method could also reduce the amount of garbage piling up on the earth.

With all the wars, fighting and sadness in the world today, it's not only necessary, but also essential to have a good sense of humor just to help us get through each and every day of our lives. Putting a smile on someone's face when you know they are feeling down in the dumps ( 处于沮丧中), as the saying goes, makes me feel good and warms my heart.

How would you feel if you could not joke around with your wife, husband, child, co-worker neighbor, close friend, or even just someone that you are standing in line with at your comer store? I am always saying things that make others smile or laugh, even if I don't know the person I'm joking around with. My Grandma always found humor in everything she did, even if it was the hardest job anyone could imagine. This not only relieves stress in any situation, but also is common courtesy (礼貌) to speak to others that are around you.

I know of a few people that don ’t have a funny bone in their bodies, as they say. Everyone around them could be rolling on the floor after hearing a great joke and they would sit there without the slightest smile on their face. They don't get the joke that makes others laugh. I am busting a gut while they just sit there, looking at me as if I were from outer space. How can people not get a really funny joke?

Laughing is essential to keep your stress levels under control. Without humor we would find ourselves with a lot of psychological problems, or on a lot of medications to keep us from going crazy. There is too much sadness in this present world. It drives people crazy. We all need to find a way to bypass the sadness and bring a little light into our lives.So, I believe our best medicine is to get together and tell some jokes and have some fun

laughing together.

巧。词汇中有很多合成词和派生词,在具体的学习中只要记住自由词汇的含义也就等于学会了更多的词汇。在英语中还有很多是由单词主体和前缀、后缀构成的,在学习过程中只要掌握了这些前后缀,就等于学习了更多的词汇。 二、掌握必要的语法知识 在现如今的高中英语阅读中,句子的结构比以前的结构更加复杂,并且变得越来越长,所以,在分析句子的过程中只有掌握了必须的语法知识才能将复杂的句子简单化,将长句子变为短句子。例如,在遇到长句子时,句子中有很多陌生的单词,这就要发挥语法知识的作用。在高中英语中我们会学习到八种时态,包括一般现在时,现在进行时,一般将来时,过去将来时等等。句子还包括简单句、复杂句。在复杂句子中还有主语从句、宾语从句、表语从句等等。要想把握句子的整体含义,就要将句子的各个部分都分析清楚。 三、联系必要的文化知识 学生在学习过程中除了要学习必要的理论知识外,还要了解必要的文化背景知识和生活常识。在高中英语的学习中,会涉及很多西方的背景知识,例如,西方的节日和西方的传统。在阅读中会出现Easterisland(复活岛)等专有名词,当然还有可能包括一些书籍名称,在了解之后学习会变得更加简单。 四、培养良好的阅读习惯

小学英语阅读教学的心得体会 杨晴 2015年9月22日,我有幸参加了枣庄市“小学英语阅读与写作衔接育人行动方案”专题培训。本次活动旨在更好地探讨小学英语阅读教学策略,学习先进的阅读教学模式,提升课堂教学质量。 英语阅读教学,本来就是件难事。针对小学生,就是难上加难。pep教材结构从对话开始,在简单的问答上开始累积知识点。在学生的潜意识里,英语就是你问我答,从没把整体的阅读放在重要的位置,以至于他们见阅读就害怕。作为老师,我也有这样的恐惧感。阅读教学不知从何下手?看惯了师生之间的互动,阅读教学老师们都从对话入手,在对话中解决问题,殊不知我们竟忽略了阅读的目的reading,把读远远地甩在了课的最后环节。 在听完报告之后,我受益匪浅,对小学英语阅读教学有了更进一步的了解。 新型的阅读课要求将阅读看作是提高英语水平的途径,强调学生通过阅读巩固语言知识,通过阅读来学习英语。所以在教学过程中,应注重培养学生的自主阅读能力。而我在这方面是有所欠缺的,该给学生更多的自主空间,而不是赤裸裸的将生词教授给学生。老师可在学生阅读之前及时给学生提供有关课文内容的背景知识材料,指导学生预习。不主张老师包揽一切,象教词汇、句型那样面面俱到,培养学生的自主学习能力在阅读教学中很重要,让学生们自己根据上下文猜意,理解。让他们根据老师所设置的任务寻找信息,记录一些有用

的词语等。以上这些能力的获得都离不开老师的悉心启发与指导,比如:怎么让学生忽略一些生词寻找出关键词句,怎么在书上做各种标记,怎么根据上下文猜意,怎么推测结果等等。当学生获得了这些学习策略,他们的阅读能力自然也会随之水涨船高。 培养学生的自主学习能力并不等于什么都得让学生独立操作,有些难度较高的阅读篇章可以让同桌或在小组成员一起合作完成。但是小学生的阅读能力毕竟十分有限,因为他们的语言量小。老师对阅读方式的指导直接影响到他们对阅读的兴趣与信心。老师可对一篇阅读材料设置几个有针对性的任务,先设置最简单的任务,学生粗粗浏览一遍就可以找到答案,然后逐步增加难度,在完成教师精心设置的任务的过程中,学生从粗略地阅读逐步进展到精细地读,直至读懂,读透全文,最后学生的感觉是凭自己的能力找到各种信息与答案,让学生对阅读有成就感,从而激发他们阅读的兴趣。 在阅读的过程中,学生随时可以向教师提问,请求帮助。通过略读和细读的结合,每名学生都能透彻理解全文。如果效率高,速度快,余下的时间还可以进行朗读比赛或创造性表演。 老师也可通过情景创设引导学生学习语言,真实自然的语境的创设,贴近学生生活,更利于激活学生参与学习的热情。 听完阅读课培训后感觉有些方向,但实施起来仍然有些棘手。小学英语阅读教学是一个新生事物,还需要我们不断去实践、去研究。作为小学英语老师,我深深体会自己责任重大,也看到了自己的不足。在以后的教学中我一定要勤于反思和总结,也只有这样才能不断提高

2018年12月20日,来自郑州市第十一中学的高级教师谷占峰为我们进行了题为《基于核心素养的初中英语阅读教学》的分享。 谷老师先分析了中高考的大趋势,指出未来中考单选题可能会取消,变为短文填空题的形式,另外还会增加人机对话的口语考查。这其实也给作为英语老师的我们提出了更高的要求:在课余,我要挤时间练习听力和口语了。 在2017年《中国考试》、《英语学科核心素养及其测评》中提到:语言能力是指在社会情境中以听、说、读、看、写等方式理解和表达意义、意图和情感态度的能力。那什么是素养呢?1997年经济合作与发展组织指出:素养是超越知识和技能的,它涉及在一个具体情境中,如何运用和调动所有的认知和社会资源去解决复杂的问题。因此有一句我认为很经典的话:Read the world through the words.素养包括人文素养、文学素养、艺术素养、媒体素养,这些都是核心素养的重要组成部分。素即本色,养指培养,素养是指“经过后天的教育和培养而形成的一些特点和素质。”英语学科核心素养即学生通过英语学习形成的能够适应个人终身发展和社会发展所需要的正确价值观念、必备品格和关键能力。它主要涵盖两大方面:学会做人、学会做事。怎样做到这点呢?谷老师指出可以通过整合式英语学习活动设计评价来实现。那么仍需注意:活动目标要体现学科核心素养;活动主题要引领语篇、语言、文化、技能和策略,围绕一个主线,形成一个活动整体;活动任务要体现认知维度、形成关联性,具有可操作性、可达成性;活动内容要体现学生实际;活动方式要为学生学会学习创造条件。这给我上阅读课给予了启发,也就是说阅读课的活动设计要有整体的眼光,放眼全局,贯穿主线,而不能碎片化。 因此,我以后在上阅读课时要牢记整合式英语学习活动设计评价的要求。北京语言大学的谢小庆教授曾提出审辩式思维的3个核心要素:不懈质疑、包容异见、力行担责。英语学科的特殊性使得它理所当然地具有包容性,因为它涉及跨文化方面的内容,我们英语老师更应该具有审辩式思维,有意识地运用在教学实践中,使它发挥更好的作用。有了理论的支撑和引领,更重要的是落实,这是任重道远的一件事,需要我们为之努力!

高中英语阅读课流程 阅读课应该是我们的传统课,是核心课,也是成熟的课型。大家对阅读课模式已经深入人心,但对其内涵还需要进一步解读和完善,尤其是青年教师。 一、读前(Before reading ):leading-in 1.导入,简洁明了,直奔主题,目的是激发学生阅读兴趣。 这次老师们导入都没有超过三分钟,把宝贵的时间留给了阅读,留给了学生。非常好。有的利用图片,视频,话题等直接引入。 2.预测 本文非常值得预测,而且课文中也提示这样做。预测之后检查预测,就形成了fast reading,同时告诉他们阅读策略。但并不是每篇文章都需要预测,要根据文章话题,结构而定。 3.生词处理 生词是否要处理(目的和需要)?何时处理好(时机)?怎样处理(方式)?阅读课的目的是为了理解,培养阅读能力和阅读微技能。生词处理的目的也应该为了阅读,为了更好的理解文本而服务。生词是否需要处理要根据生词的量而定。如果太多影响学生理解或即使学生猜测也不能理解的话,就很有必要处理,绝不能回避。本文共39个生词,既有生僻词汇,专有名词,也有重要词汇和重点短语,因而需要处理。 何时处理好(时机)?分散与集中相结合。根据文章需要可以在读前如专有名词,在读中如skimming, scanning中进行。如在回答问题中,在问题中,在答案中让学生通过句子和上下文进行猜测或者在同义词替换,或者举出一个语境来猜测。也可以在careful reading集中处理。 怎样处理(方式)?①给出英语解释;②在语境中猜测如use up。My money has used up, and I have to ask parents for help. I have run out of my money, and I have to ask parents for help. I have no money now.③用图片的方式在问题中或回 答问题中进行。如alternative energy ,利用图片展示wind energy, water energy, solar energy然后在组句Wind energy, water energy and solar energy are the forms of the alternative energy.这样学生就可以理解了。再例如,问句What people won’t have to pay for?中won’t have to pay for means free of change。④在长难句翻译中猜测。All forms of recreation, such as cinemas, bowling, softball, concerts and others will be provided free of charge. Free of charge means for free or needn’t pay for.⑤直接给出汉语意思。⑥部分不影响篇章理解的词汇可忽略。 二、读中(while-reading )Input:有序输入(top-down-top) 分层阅读并限时进行。限时要有依据,文本有多少单词,高一学生需要几分钟,高二学生设定几分钟,高三学生要几分钟。这些不仅要根据文本的长短,还要依据本文的生词量多少,文章的题材(说明、议论、记叙、新闻报道等),文章的

3、能有效突出语言的表意功能。 四、故事教学的基本步骤和相应的活动设计: (1)阅读前活动设计 (1)介绍故事背景或预测故事内容。 (2)适时、适度地介绍教学新的语言点。 (2)阅读中活动设计 (1)速读故事,了解故事大意,验证阅读前的猜测。 (2)逐段阅读,获取细节信息,了解故事进程及线索。 (3)复读全文,再次从整体上理解故事内容,巩固学习效果。(3)阅读后活动设计 (1)表演、复述和改编故事。 (2)个性化学习活动。 五、新课程下如何进行故事教学: 1、挖掘教材内容,激发学生对故事的兴趣 (1)挖掘故事中的矛盾点,激发学生对故事的兴趣。 (2)帮助学生构建生活经验,激发学生对故事的兴趣。

The head of the Sphinx represents Khafre, the Pharaoh who ruled Egypt at the time. About two thousand years later, around 570 B.C., sand had covered all but the head of the Great Sphinx. The people living in the area had forgotten the history of the statue, so they imagined that the head represented the sun god Ra and began worshiping it. The son of Pharaoh Amenhotep II heard the head speak to him in a dream. The Sphinx’s head made him promise to clear the sand from the statue’s body. The son, Thutmose, kept his word and did what he was told in the dream. He also built walls around the statue to prevent the sand from covering it again. After all of the sand was cleared away, Thutmose made a large stone tablet that told the story of his dream. He placed this tablet between the two front feet of the Sphinx, where it stands to this day. For hundreds of years, the Sphinx attracted people both as a religious monument and as a work of art. 新课标下农村高中英语阅读能力的培养 摘要:《高中英语新课程标准》明确要求:高中英语教学应“侧重培养学生阅读能力”。因此,阅读理解在高中英语学习中占据着重要地位。目前,《课标》对阅读理解教学和检测提出了更新更高的要求,如何培养学生英语阅读能力是一个当务之急的课题。英语课程标准目标要求能读懂简单读物和报刊、杂志,克服生词障碍,理解大意。能根据阅读目的运用适当的阅读策略。但由于农村中学学生使用英语环境面狭小,学生手头资料少、课外补充阅读少,学生的阅读能力还有很大的欠缺。本文就我所处的农村中学英语阅读教学所面临的困难做了细致的分析,找出合适的对策予以解决,并指出了掌握科学的阅读技巧和阅读方法是提高英语学习水平的重要手段。 关键词:农村中学阅读能力阅读方法能力培养 一、现状与影响学生阅读能力的因素 农村中学较之城市中学在资源配置上差距很大。城市学校设施齐全、资料丰富、师资强,而农村学校在各条件上正相反,不要说语音室,就连资料都不齐全,教材也有城市化倾向,总体讲是起点高、难度大、内容多,农村中学师生均不能很好适应。其次,在生源上,以我校为例,学生高一年的录取成绩是整个福清地区最后几名,很多学生在初中时的英语基础就很差,对英语的兴趣不高,尤其是在阅读方面,进入高中,随着难度的加大,学生的兴趣也在慢慢呈下滑趋势。本人对进行英语学习和教学活动的学生和教师进行了调查,结果反映出影响农村英语阅读的因素

学生本身的语言认知水平、智力水平、生理发展水平、心理因素等一般因素外,影响农村中学英语阅读教学的相关因素还有以下方面: 1、语言基础知识对阅读理解的影响 目前农村中学学生接触的英语材料大都只有课本及练习,英语阅读课在很大程度上还停留在以文章作为实体而非载体的基础上,通过阅读材料传授语音、词汇、语法等语言知识,忽视了培养学生运用科学的阅读策略和方法去获取信息的能力,忽视了语言运用能力的真正养成,学生独立学习能力相当有限。新课程强调从学生的学习兴趣、生活经验和认识水平出发,倡导体验、实践、参与、合作与交流的学习方式和任务新的教学途径,发展学生的综合语言运用能力,使语言学习的过程成为学生形成积极的情感态度、主动思维和大胆实践,提高跨文化意识和形成自主学习能力的过程要提高阅读的理解能力,丰富的词汇,扎实的语法知识和熟练的习语等对学生来说都是至关重要的。 (1)词汇量 影响学生阅读的第一关是词汇量。一个人掌握的词汇越多阅读时所遇到的障碍越小;反之,掌握的词汇少,容易曲解其含义,误解整个句子,甚至整篇文章。扩大词汇量的方法有多种。如:注重学习与积累,我们知道词汇的积累是一个循序渐进的过程,掌握科学的记忆方法,多看多读,积少成多;掌握构词法,通过词的合成,转化,派生来记忆单词,不仅能扩大词汇量,而且有助于记忆如;通过近义词,反义词等联想对比法以及对于熟词偏义,具有特殊意义的词加以记忆
