The Internationalization and Modernization of Higher Education
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. today I will share with you some of my thoughts on the topic—The internationalization and modernization of higher education. China has drawn world’s atten tion for its great achievement since reform and opening up, appearing in the international stage in the image of a young, vigorous, and responsible country. So, as a college student, are you ready for this trend? I think my answer is definite.
In college, landscape architecture is my major. For the international part, on one hand, since the development of global exchange is speeding up, a large number of my college classmates decided to go to developed countries for further study. On the other hand, for the rest of us who chose to stay also have the chances to get international influence. For these years, there started to be some international competitions and lectures in our campus. Look back to my 4 years in Chengdu, one of the most rewarding things in my learning career is in 2011, the Biennale of landscape and architecture is held that summer, our teacher took us there to attend the lectures. On the first day, we met the master from America, and learnt a lot from his inspirational speech of eco-design. And that impressed me a lot even in the following years. Last but not the least, now, school is sending teachers to study abroad for a term every year. We all believe that it really helps to elevate the educational system and widen the knowledge and thinking mode of our school teachers.
For the modernization part, I have 3 points to show the changes in our high education. First, it can be found in the changes of curriculum system and the direction of specialized courses. Nowadays, our college is gaining new courses every year, and it all highlight the importance of teamwork. Secondly, it is obvious to find new technique being used in nowadays class teaching, and it seems that, computer plays the indispensable part of learning and teaching. Thanks to the development of internet, people here today could be able to search for information at any time. Moreover, the modernization also reflects in the changes of our educational theory. In the past, It has
been reported that our university graduates are facing the increasing pressure of finding jobs, in my opinion, one of the reasons due to this social reality is in our high education. But now, the lessons are becoming more and more practical, and I strongly believe that in the near future, this situation will be improved obviously.
We are lucky to be born in this 21st century, the age of information. Open our mind and take an active part in is not just a slogan. The main point is what to do.
For student, hold the chance in international academic exchange, use the modern tools when doing research.
for major, provide more international activities, bring more possible ways to enrich the teaching methods.
For campus, integrate different countries` education methods to find out the most suitable way for our us.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is impossible to accomplish in one action to fulfill the task, there is still a long way to go. Let’s work together and make our concerted effort to make it! The future is not blowing in the wind, but testing in our very hands.
高等教育的国际化和现代化
女士们，先生们，早上好。今天，关于高等教育国际化和现代化这个话题，我将与大家分享一些的我的看法。自其改革开放以来，中国所取得的的伟大成就已经引起了全世界的瞩目，我们正在以一个年轻的，充满活力的，负责任的大国形象出现在国际舞台上。所以，在此背景下，作为一名大学生，你是否已经做好准备来迎接这个趋势了呢？我想我的答案是肯定的。
在大学里，我的专业是园林景观设计。对于高等教育的国际化部分，一方面，由于全球化的经济交流正在加速，我的许多大学同学决定去发达国家进一步深造。另一方面，对于其余选择留下来的我们，也有机会得到一些国际化的影响，这些年来，校园里开始引进一些国际化的比赛和讲座。现在回顾在成都的4年时光，我的学习生涯中最有意义的事情之一是在2011年，那年夏天景观和建筑双年展在这里举办。我们老师带着我们去那里参加讲座。第一天，我们认识了来自美国的设计大师，从他充满启发性的关于生态设计的演讲中,我们学到了很多东西。那场讲座让我在之后的几年中仍然印象深刻。最后但并非最不重要的一点，现在学校每年都会派教师到国外学习。我们都相信，它确实有助于提升教育系统，并拓展了我们学校教师的知识面和思维模式。
对于高等教育的现代化部分，我将从3点来展现我们专业的变化。首先，现代化可以体现在专业课课程体系和方向的变化。如今，我们每年都在增开新的课程，而这些课程都在强调团队合作的重要性。其次，在当前的课堂教学中，很明显地可以发现新的科学技术被应用在教学环节中。现在看来，电脑似乎成为了学习和教学不可缺少的一部分。感谢互联网的发展，今天我们在座的各位都能够随时通过网络搜索到的我们所需的信息信息。此外，高等教育现代化也反映在了我们的教育理论的变化上。据报道，我国的大学毕业生面临着越来越大的就业压力，在我看来，导致这种社会现象的原因之一就在于我们的高等教育环节。但是，现在，我们的课程正在变得越来越具有实践性。我坚信，在不久的将来，这种情况将得到明显改善。
我们何其幸运，出生在这21世纪这个信息时代。开放思维和积极参与现代化和国际化进程不仅仅是一个口号。重要的是我们应当做些什么。
对于学生来说，要抓住国际学术交流的机会，使用现代化的工具去学习；
对专业来说，要提供学生更多的国际化活动，引进更多可能的方式来丰富教学方法。
对高校来说，要结合各国的教育理念找出最适合自己的教育模式。
