I’m delighted to know you are interested in traditional Chinese festivals. You might have never heard of Chong Yang festival, but it is actually my favourite. It falls on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month. Since nine is the largest single number, it is viewed as Senior Citizens’ Day. People often do activities like going hiking and admiring flowers on this day.
As for me, I had never thought about doing anything for the elderly until I learnt about the festival at school. Our teacher asked us to do a nice thing for our grandparents. For the first time in my life, I washed my grandma’s feet. I’ll never forget the sweet smile she wore and the happiness I felt.
You see, I like Chong Yang festival not just because of the popular activities. The most important reason is that it serves as reminder that I should do something to show my appreciation of my grandparents’ love for me. (150 words)

Dear Chris,
This term with my friends I took part in a meaningful activity in our school. And I’d like to share it with you. It was an activity aimed at helping us form good habits in 100 days.
After making up our mind to participate, my friends and I started to come up with what to do in the coming three months. Running, keeping dairies, etc. all flashed through our minds, but we finally decided on reading. After that we got online to search for the bestselling books and made our book lists. It was really challenging. Sometimes we felt it hard to persevere because of our busy schedule. Sometimes we really wanted to quit because of the heavy homework load. But we reminded and encouraged each other to set aside 30 minutes for our goal. Gradually, we found ourselves hooked on reading. We read wherever and whenever possible, in the library, in the playground and even on the subway.
100 days went by silently. And we became keen on reading. Everybody was overwhelmed with a sense of achievement and pride. More importantly, we fully realized that perseverance is what it takes to achieve a goal.
