A habit is something we do very often. We can have good habits or bad habits. Early to bed, early to rise. Have you ever heard of this old English saying? It means that we must go to bed early at night and get up early in the morning. If we do, we shall be healthy. We shall also be wealthy and wise.

Is this true? Perhaps it is. The body must have enough sleep. Young people of your age

need eight hours' sleep every night. If you do not go to bed early, you cannot have enough sleep. Then you cannot think properly and you cannot do your work properly. You will not be wise and you may not be healthy!

Some people go to bed late at night and get up late in the morning. This is not good for them. We must sleep at night when it is dark. The dark helps us to sleep properly. When daylighl comes, we must get up. This is the time for exercise. Exercise means doing things with the body. Walking, running, jumping, swimming, playing games are all exercise. If the body is not used to it, _[t becomes weak. Exercise keeps it strong.

Exercise helps the blood to move around inside the body. This is very important. Blooj makes food for all parts of our bodies. The brains in our heads also need blood. We think with our brains. If we keep our bodies healthy and do exercise, we can think better.

Over twenty years ago, two spacecraft were launched , They were called Voyager land Voyager 2. The main reason they were sent was to explore the planets of the outer solar system. It took the Voyagers two years to get to Jupiter . It took them ten more years to get to Neptune . In between they sent back photos of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. These pictures are beautiful. They show the gases on Jupiter, in layers of colors like paintings on an egg. Scientists were surprised to find active volcanoes on a moon of Jupiter called lo. Volcanoes were also found on a frozen moon of Neptune.

Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 are still travelling and still sending data. They are speeding along at over 35, 000 miles an hour. Voyager 1 is now 7. 9 billion miles from Earth.

Each Voyager weighs about one ton. Both have enough fuel and electrical power to continue sending signals for about 20 more years. It takes almost 12 hours to send a radio message to Voyager 1, and nearly another 12 hours to hear back.

The Voyagers still have one last task. It is to find out where our solar system ends. Scientists call this point the helio pause. It is the boundary where the solar system ends

and the rest of space really begins. This boundary lies far beyond Pluto . It is the place where the wind from the Sun, which is really a small star, dies out.

The Voyagers will lose power around the year 2020. After that, they will continue to float silently into space, perhaps for millions of years. ?

The Voyagers were launched into space in 1977, but they are not the oldest active spacecraft. A spacecraft called Pioneer 10 is still flying and sending data back to Earth. Pioneer 10 was launched in 1972. It was one of the first spacecraft intended to go deep into the solar system and beyond.

( ) 26. Which of the following events happened first?

A. The Voyagers flew past Jupiter.

B. The Voyagers went beyond the orbit of Earth.

C. Pioneer 10 was launched.

D. The Voyagers flew past Neptune.

( )27. After 2020 the Voyagers will no longer send back information because they will__

A. be too far away

B. be out of power

C. crash on Pluto

D. return to Earth

( )28. Why were the two Voyager spacecraft launched?

A. To find out more about the planet Pluto.

B. To gather pieces from active volcanoes.

C. To explore the outer planets.

D. To travel to the nearest star.

( )29. You can conclude from the first paragraph of this passage that the last planet visited by the Voyagers was ___ .

A. Sun

B. lo

C. Neptune

D. Pluto

( ) 30. Based on this passage, which of these is a good forecast?

A. Within ten years a new spacecraft will overtake the Voyagers.

B. As the spacecraft travel, radio messages will take longer.

C. The Voyagers may reach the heliopause before 2020.

D. After 2020 Pioneer 10 will continue to send pictures.
