In America, joining the drill team (啦啦队) is like a dream come true for every girl.
April 27th was a big day for me. It was the tryout day for my school’s drill team. The drill team is more famous as the Lancer Dancers. They dance at American football and basketball games.
If you want to be a Lancer Dancer, you have to try out. All the dancers trying out spent a week practicing the dance every morning before school. I had to wake up at about 5:30 in the morning to practice dancing with my partner. That week was probably the most stressful week I would never forget!
It worked out fine in the end though. After that week of dance, tryout day finally came. I was stressed out because there were so many girls! It’s common to see schools in China use exercise books from the US or the UK. But now, it’s our math exercise book going to the UK.
Yi Ke Yi Lian, or One Lesson, One Exercise, is a series (系列) of popular exercise books for primary and junior high schools in Shanghai.
